Cowra Public School NEWS NSW Department of Education and Communities

Dear Parents The school is looking forward to welcoming the Easter Bunny this weekend and with it the extended period of Good Friday and Easter Monday. Today the school was in full Easter swing with the Easter Hat Parade followed by a parade down the main street of Cowra. Again our children shone with outstanding manners and enthusiasm in celebrating this special time of the year. Congratulations to all of the children and their teachers who put great effort into their wonderful Easter Hats. This week the school held combined scripture to tell the story of Easter and its significance in our calendar. I commend the outstanding attention of our children during this great scripture event and the wonderful scripture teachers who volunteer their time in providing such an important service to our school and children. Huge congratulations to Tyahla Munro who was awarded a state recognition award for Public Speaking. This award was part of the Nanga Mai awards and was presented to Tyahla in Sydney on Tuesday. We are extremely proud of Tyahla’s achievements and could not ask for a better ambassador for Cowra Public School and Cowra. It isn’t hard to see the great work being completed in the school when I look

through the weekly schedule of events and achievements. To see so many students moving forward in the PBL reward (Gotcha) system is fantastic. This is added to by the outstanding Aussies of the Month being Tatianna Hazell and Amellia McCulloch, who have always displayed the strong values of our school. Mr Murray is very excited about the strong possibility of some of our football players making a Cowra District Team after the trials being held this afternoon. These boys will then represent Cowra at the Western Region trials later in the term. Good luck to all boys participating. Miss Gardoll has taken students to Bathurst today to compete in the Western Region PSSA tennis competition. Miss Gardoll is extremely confident that our students will play to their best ensuring a very good chance of a win. Mac Webster has also been named in the Western Region Cricket team for the second consecutive year and will compete in the state championships in Term 4.

events in this newsletter. I would like to thank all the staff members of the school for their work in my absence over the last few weeks. The school is running exceptionally well and I recognise their high level of professionalism and approach to their roles, all of which make the school run. I would like to thank Mrs Cole who relieved in my position for her incredible ability to manage any situation. Finally I would like to wish everyone a marvellous Easter period and remind parents to be watchful of their children near the road with the increase in traffic over the Easter weekend. I hope the Easter Bunny arrives with special gifts and everyone enjoys the time at home. Regards

Brad Tom

Finally in sport we are holding the Athletics carnival next Friday, 1 April. All parents are welcome to attend the day to cheer and encourage their children. Mrs Duncan has again been speaking with the weather gods and has assured the children of a marvellous sunny day. We are expecting some outstanding races next week with several children in the running to attain new school records. It is evident that our teachers’ swimming team is not the fastest, having been beaten for four consecutive years. However we are hoping to redeem ourselves with a relay race or a hundred metre sprint race depending on interest. If you would like to participate please make yourself available at 1.00pm on Friday. Teams will be formed then. To say that Mr Garlick is confident is an understatement. Soon the school will be looking towards Term 2 and our winter events including the Stage 3 Pie Drive and the Stage 2 Excursion. Please look for details of these
