MULYAN PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Term 2 ~ Week 4
www. mulyan-p.schools@det.new.edu.au
Dear Parents, Welcome to Week 4. Congratulations to all the Year 3 and Year 5 students who sat for the NAPLAN Assessments last week. All the boys and girls seemed to take it in their stride and undertook the test with little stress and great enthusiasm. Well done! During Term 3, the results will be sent back to school and we will then forward them on to the students.
Working Bee
Thank you to the parents, grandparents and students who came along to the P & C working bee last Sunday. We had a small but willing group of helpers who did a great deal during the day. Four gardens were completely transformed and look absolutely fantastic. It was a big day but well worth it. Thank you to Jane Jeffries who organised us all so very well and also to all the workers who came along. When you come up to the school, please have a look because they look fantastic.
Sport
On Monday of this week our boys’ and girls’ hockey team travelled to Orange to play in the first round of the PSSA knockout against Calare Public and Orange Small Schools respectively. Both teams played extremely well and as a lot of them had never played hockey before, they picked up a lot of skills. The girls played first and after a very close start to the game, gradually got on top and were able to come out winning 5 goals to 0. The game was played in great spirit and the girls showed a lot of enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Well done. After this, the boys played and after a very close start once again, unfortunately, Calare proved to be the better team. This game was also played in great spirit and a lot of enthusiasm. Congratulations, boys. The girls will now go on to the second round of the knockout. In other sports news, good luck to our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams who play over in Molong tomorrow against Molong Central School in the second round of their knockout. Good luck to both teams. Then on Friday, the District Cross Country carnival is being held here in Cowra and we have over 30 going down to the carnival and trying to make the District team. Good luck to all our long distance runners. To finish the week off, our boys’ Rugby League team will play against Raglan Public School in the Westmont Shield. Good luck boys.

Cowra Eisteddfod The Cowra Eisteddfod started last Friday and we have already had four groups compete in this community event. Both our Infants and Primary choirs competed last Friday, and even though neither of them gained a place, both groups sounded delightful and are a credit to their choir masters; Mrs Gregory and Mrs Cummings respectively. Then yesterday, both our Stage 3 and Stage 1 Verse Speaking Choirs competed and both groups were awarded Highly Commended and sounded wonderful. Congratulations, Mrs Statham and Mrs Ryan for your work with these groups. Next Tuesday, we have the dance section of the Eisteddfod. Good luck to these groups.
Stage 2 Theatre Excursion
Next Wednesday, our Stage 2 students are off to Orange to see the performance of The Peasant Prince. It is a great opportunity for our students to see a live performance and all that live theatre is about. I know that our students will enjoy this production. Thank you to Mrs Cummings and Stage 2 teachers for making this opportunity available. John Smith
