Term 3~ Week 5 www. mulyan-p.schools@det.new.edu.au Dear Parents, Mr Smith is on leave this week so I have the pleasure of writing this fortnight’s newsletter. This is our first newsletter since our school’s Open Day and Mini Fair. It was wonderful to have so many visitors to our school who took up the opportunity to look at the children’s work and visit our wonderful classrooms and enjoy the SRC Mini Fair. It was a very successful day and the money raised will be used to purchase equipment for the children to utilise. Thankyou to all parents and friends who were able to attend. The smiles on the children's faces showed us that they love showing off their hard work at school and how proud they are of their efforts. Stage 1 Excursion On Friday,31st July the Infants students enjoyed a fantastic excursion to Orange Theatre to see “The 26 Storey Treehouse”. From all reports the children were very well behaved and had a wonderful day. Thanks Mrs Ryan for organising this for our Stage 1 students. NED Show The Stage 2 & 3 students were entertained and thrilled by a performance called “The NED Show” here at school. This was a fantastic show full of lots of yo-yo tricks and magic. The underlying message was that we all need to strive to become: N-never give up E-encourage others D-do your best Yo-yos were then on sale all week for the students to purchase and practise their skills. There are some still available at the school office if you are interested in purchasing one. Sport Last Friday, students from our school went to the District Athletics Carnival in Canowindra. A report by Mrs B. Johnson will appear later in the newsletter. I would like to especially mention the number of lovely comments I heard about the attitude and behaviour of our students who attended the carnival. They were incredibly supportive and encouraging of each other and displayed enthusiastic school spirit. All the Mulyan children were cheering each other on enthusiastically and loudly. They all should be very proud of their efforts and all tried to do their very best. A variety of results were achieved, some PB’s made, but the main thing was that all children had a great

day, were supportive of each other and did our school proud. Congratulations to all the children who attended and their supporters who attended. Thanks to Mrs B Johnson for co-ordination our school district team. Dance Last week, four of our students had the honour of attending a dance workshop in Sydney conducted by the State Dance Company, through the DEC Arts Unit. Kate Rowston, Ebony Ingram, Lucy Murray and Lowanna Murray all had the opportunity to work with professional dancers to further their own talent and had a wonderful time. What an amazing experience. Well done, girls. Thanks Mrs Statham for organising this and to the parents for their support. Spelling Bee On Thursday, the primary students will be participating in the School Spelling Bee finals. Children have been selected from each class and we wish them all the best. Parents are welcome to attend. The winning student for each grade will then participate in the Regional Spelling Bee Final later this term. Thanks Mrs Ryan for co-ordinating and training our Spelling Bee finalists. Assembly Stage 1 will be having their assembly this Friday, 14th August but the primary assembly has been moved to the following Friday, 21st August. P&C Quiz Night This Saturday, 15th August, the School Quiz Night organised by our school’s P&C promises to be a wonderful night with lots of prizes kindly donated by the community and lots of fun to be had. I hope you have been reading up on your general knowledge. Please contact Cath Sutherland to purchase tickets 0428 510 992. Staff Changes Mrs Julie Bryant has taken leave for the remainder of this term. We welcome Ms Melanie Bryant to our school and know she will have a lovely time working with our students in the Library.

All the fun of the Mini Fair

The school has once again registered for the Woolworth Earn and Lean promotion. This promotion starts today and runs until 8th September. For every $10 spent, a sticker is gained which is placed on a sticker sheet and once completed. This is placed in a collection box either at school or at our local Woolworths. This is then redeemed for educational resources. In previous years, we have been able to gained much needed classroom and sporting resources for our students. So if you or anyone you know happens to be shopping at Woolworths, please ask them to collect the stickers for our school. They will be wisely used.

Kindergarten Enrolment It is about this time each year we ask for the names of Kindergarten students for the coming year. If you have a child who has turned 5 or will turn 5 before the 31st July 2016 and you wish to enrol them at our school, please contact the office. We will take their names and will send out enrolment forms later in the term. Details of the Orientation Program will be sent out to children on our list later in the term along with an invitation for the child to participate in the Orientation Program. If you know of anyone who has a child ready to start school, please remind them of our school. If you are not sure if your child is ready for school, please contact us and we will be happy to give you some advice and guidance. It is important that we get accurate projected numbers for 2016 as this affects our staffing, as well as funding.
