Last day of Term

YOU ARE INVITED…. This Friday 1st September at 10.30 KW, accompanied by Mrs White and Mr Murray, will be performing at the Neighbourhood Centre. Parents and community members are invited to come and watch and enjoy morning tea.

Dear Parents/Caregivers, What an amazing week we have had at Cowra Public School! Last Thursday’s Book Parade was a sight to see as approximately 350 students and staff made their way down Kendal Street in celebration of Book Week! The range of book characters was incredible - from Harry Potter to Thelma the Unicorn, the Cat in the Hat and Bear Grylls; from superheroes to spacemen, princesses to pirates, the effort that students put in to their costumes was absolutely fantastic! A huge thank you to the Kendal Street businesses that supported our parade and to the families who turned up to watch. It was terrific to see all the CPS staff getting into the spirit as well, and the hotly contested “Best Costume Group”, judged by the students, was narrowly won by the primary teachers who dressed up as characters from “Alice in Wonderland”! As Mrs Oborn said “It’s official CPS rocked BOOK WEEK!” This week the P&C have hosted the annual Father’s Day Stall and students have enjoyed purchasing special gifts for their dads, uncles and pops. Thank you to Mrs Sarah Casey and her team of helpers, for organising this event. I hope all our dads have a wonderful day on Sunday and enjoy being spoilt by their children! Tomorrow we have 20 students from our school heading to Dubbo to compete in the Western Region PSSA Athletics Carnival. We wish them all the very best and hope they enjoy the experience. Thank you to Miss Sam Dunk and Mrs Shavaughn Duncan for their efforts in supporting our students by holding athletics training sessions during lunchtimes over the past few weeks. Good luck to all students, and go CPS!! Excitement is building for tonight’s Schools Spectacular Social! The theme is ‘Chase away the Winter Blues’ and children are encouraged to come dressed in their brightest clothes and wear their dancing shoes! The cost is just $2.00 per student. The Infants Social will go from 5:00pm – 6:15pm with Primary to follow from 6:30pm-8:00pm. All proceeds will go to the Schools Spectacular fundraising effort. In addition, the school was very excited to receive a sizeable donation last week from a friend of the school to assist our students attending and performing at the 2017 Schools Spectacular. We are very grateful for such amazing support from our local community. Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal
