2016 KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS
P & C MEETING Thursday, 19 November 6.00pm in the staffroom
Dear Parents This week our school has enjoyed some very exciting events within and out of the school. To begin with the students in Year 1 had a marvellous excursion visiting the many local attractions of our main business area. The children discovered that many buildings that they pass each day with their parents have a lot of history behind them and some interesting stories as to what they have been used for in the past. Our school children also enjoyed a fantastic night of fun at the Term 4 Disco held on Tuesday night. The Stage 1 children really enjoyed the songs and dancing on the night and some of the teachers showed they have the moves while instructing some of the finer points of the Macarena. The Stage 2/3 disco was a chance for both the boys and girls dance groups to show what all of their practise has been for with some fantastic displays of dance being on show. This demonstrated once again the wonderful opportunities that the school provides for children, no matter what their interests.
Also tomorrow Stage 3 will be participating in a parliamentary video conference in the Library. This conference will showcase the House of Representatives, the Federation Chamber and the Senate. The school is gearing up for some very busy weeks with next week seeing our Stage 3 classes travelling to the Sport and Recreation camp in Narrabeen. The children will be enjoying the week completing activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, high ropes course, sailing and a host of other amazing activities. The staff and children

Tomorrow E2-3 and H1-2 will be participating in a special education Tball competition at Cowra High School.

The School Spectacular dancers will be travelling to Sydney the following week and will be refining their rehearsals ready for the big performances that begin on Friday, 27 November at lunchtime. At this performance the audience of nearly 3000 will contain 50 students and staff from Cowra Public School who will be travelling down to watch the show. Today we are opening up tickets to Year 2 students as we still have a very limited number of seats on the bus. If you would like your child to attend please be quick. Our school sunglasses have been a huge hit with strong interest and sales. The glasses are being sold at cost price by the school and are at the cost of $12. These glasses are seen to be a very strong move to providing protection to your child’s eyes and we hope many parents will see the value in this product. Our school bags can also be ordered at the school now and will be available ASAP ready for next year. Our senior indigenous boys have been enjoying a special program run through Cowra High School in the last few weeks called Bro Speak. This program looks to develop awareness and pride in local culture, enhancing respect and tolerance in students whilst setting goals and aligning achievement. Our hard working teachers are currently collating the student assessment results and have commenced the task of reporting. This is one of the most important times of the year ensuring that we accurately relay student achievement to parents. Enjoy the week.
