Term 4, Week 9

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT It’s hard to believe we are at the end of another school year! Thank you to all parents, family and community members who attended our end of year Presentations this week; your support is greatly appreciated! The wide range of academic, cultural, sporting and leadership awards that were presented to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 was astounding! Performances from the school band, the Schools Spectacular dancers, Mac’s public speaking award-winning speech and the school choir were first class and really highlighted the well-rounded education all students receive at Cowra Public School. A special thank you to the teachers and Year 6 leaders for their efforts in ensuring each Presentation ceremony ran so smoothly. With class parties being held today, I’m sure students AND teachers enjoyed the opportunity to let their hair down, relax and have fun with their friends!

COWRA CHRISTMAS STREET FESTIVAL Cowra Public School Primary Choir is joining in the combined choir for the Cowra Christmas Street Festival on Friday, 16 December. Choir members are required to be in full school summer uniform but are encouraged to accessorise with a Christmas hat or antlers, bells etc. I look forward to seeing you on Friday, 16 December at 5.30pm in Kendal Street. Mrs Gay Hilton Choir Master

IMPORTANT DATES Last Day for students Friday, 16 December 2016 Year 1 - 6 students return on Monday, 30 January 2017 Kindergarten students begin on Tuesday, 31 January 2017

This week I am pleased to announce that Mrs Sheridan Oborn, Mr Albert Murray and Mr Greg Garlick have been successful in applying, through Expressions of Interest, for the three relieving positions of Assistant Principal at Cowra Public School for Term 1 2017. I congratulate each of them and look forward to working with them as part of the executive team in the new year. Interviews were held today to fill another permanent teaching position at the school, with the outcome of this likely to be advised early next year. Tomorrow is the last day of Term for all students and our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be held at 2:30pm in the auditorium. I would like to wish our outgoing Year 6 students all the very best as they embark on the next phase of their educational journey. I’m sure the grounding they have received whilst at CPS will serve them very well as they begin their secondary education. We are very proud of all of you! Staff will spend next Monday’s Staff Development Day completing professional learning activities around the “8 Ways of Learning” Aboriginal pedagogies and finalising class preparations for the 2017 school year. A reminder that school resumes for students in Years 1-6 on Monday 30th January, whilst our new Kindergarten children will have a staggered start beginning on Tuesday 31st January. On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish all families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday! Until next year… Kind Regards, Jenny Lewis

THANK YOU I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community and parents for their support and friendship over the time I have worked at Cowra Public School. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the students, teachers and parents and it has been a privilege to be part of such a committed and dedicated team of workers who strive to develop and nurture students so that they can take their place in society. To be part of a school that meets and extends the personal and social needs of students while recognising, valuing and developing each student to their fullest potential was an honour and I value the input from everyone over the time I have worked at Cowra Public School. Thank you everyone and have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year. Jan Pomering
