This week we welcomed our 2018 Kindergarten students for their very first Kinder Orientation session at CPS. More than 50 bright-eyed, smiling faces walked through the school gates on Tuesday and spent a wonderful morning session in our Kindergarten classrooms. Mrs White, Miss Causton and Mrs McFarland planned a fun-filled literacy lesson based around the book “Dear Zoo”, and the children created their own artworks that resembled a character from the story, sang songs and unlocked special packages from the zoo using the interactive whiteboard. We look forward to seeing all our new Kinders again next Tuesday from 9:30am-11:00am.
AECG meeting - AGM - 2pm Last weekend was the annual Cowra Show and it was lovely to see so many CPS families there enjoying NAIDOC Public Speaking State Challenge - Dubbo

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
the day! The CPS Stand in the Pavilion looked amazing and was filled with many wonderful artworks created by our students. A big thank you must go to Mrs Montgomery and her Stage 2 helpers for setting up the display, to all the teachers who turned up to man the stall over the weekend and to Mr Murray and Mr McGill who carted everything from school to the showground and back again on Monday. There were entries from CPS students across all of the different categories, and many of these were recognised with awards and prizes! Thank you also to our hard-working P&C members who ran the delicious BBQ and raised valuable funds for our school.
Whole School Assembly 2pm On Wednesday night at the P&C meeting, the draft School Uniform Policy was tabled. I would like to Year 6 Transition Day - Cowra invite parents to view this document and provide feedback for discussion at our next P&C Meeting which High School

will be held on Wednesday 15th November. A copy of the policy can be collected from the front office at school, or viewed on the school’s website – www.cowra-p.schools.nsw.edu.au. Keeping all our children safe is of primary concern to our school community. With recent roadworks happening across the town, we have noticed an increase in both the volume and speed of the traffic around our school during the morning and afternoon drop off times. Please make sure you allow plenty of time to get from home to school or work, and observe the 40km per hour speed limit. Cowra Council and Cowra Police have been notified of our concerns and will be monitoring this to ensure all our children arrive to school safely. Making sure our children are safe on-line is also of great importance and the school has been made aware of students accessing social media sites where strangers have attempted to gain information about their personal lives. These sites have not been accessed at school as our internet filters are very secure, however it is a reminder to parents to make sure you know which sites your child is visiting on their devices at home, and what information they are sharing with others on-line. The Jump Rope for Heart ‘Jump-off’ day was held on Wednesday this week. I would like to say a huge thank you to our PE Teacher Miss Dunk, for her organisation of this worthwhile event. Students rotated through a range of fun and energetic skipping activities and raised a whopping $3600.00 for the National Heart Foundation! What a fantastic effort CPS! Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal

C1 SING AT COWRA NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE On Friday, students from C1 performed as a choir at the Neighbourhood Centre. They were extremely excited to be singing in front of an audience and conducted themselves beautifully. Bella really enjoyed singing ‘Home Among the Gum Trees’, Sienna and Michael’s favourites were singing a Wiradjuri song taught by Aunty Esther and Mr Murray. Aunty Esther was very impressed with their performance. Maddon loved singing ‘Maggalina Haggalina’ as Memphis strummed along to the chorus with his ukulele. Tom was chuffed with the delicious food the Neighbourhood centre provided, Azaria and Trinity loved the cupcakes and Will couldn’t get enough of the sausage rolls. Thank you to the parents who came and watched and a big thanks to the Neighbourhood Centre for providing this opportunity to perform and connect with our community. Miss Gorham

Cowra Show 2017
The Cowra Show held over the past weekend was a great opportunity to demonstrate and celebrate to the greater public the academic and creative prowess of our students. The Cowra Public stall was colourful, interesting and stimulating. Thank you to all the contributors of work and to the staff and parents who helped to put it all together. The Show was also a wonderful opportunity for our students to show their talents in areas that our Primary/ Infants School curriculum does not cover, and to this end we have had a number of students that entered into the various competitions and received awards for their entries. Well done to all our Cowra Public Students who contributed to our local show!!
Professional Wrestler James “High Octane” Lanham On Tuesday 17th October, 2017 our primary students had the opportunity of meeting James “High Octane” Lanham. James spoke to our students about the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
