Year 2 Learn To Swim Year 2 Learn to Swim is starting on Monday 27 November for 2 weeks. The cost is $20 if you don’t have a season pass. Notes will be sent home

Dear Parents/Caregivers, Another busy week has flown by and it is pleasing to see students across the school settled and working hard in their classrooms. On my walks around the school this week I have been particularly impressed with how focused and ‘on task’ our students are and have enjoyed popping into the classrooms and seeing H12 working hard on their spelling activities, C2 and A2’s wonderful recorder playing, V3’s computer coding lessons and some very impressive writing from our Kindergarten students! Our PBL values are certainly being upheld with students being safe, respectful and on task. On Wednesday our Girls League Tag teams travelled to Grenfell to compete in a Gala Day. Miss Noble and Miss Dunk have been coaching the teams for the past few months and were very impressed with the skills and great sportsmanship shown by the girls. Congratulations to all the girls who attended and were excellent representatives of our school and thank you to Miss Noble and Miss Dunk for accompanying them on the day. Mrs Lisa Willis, our fantastic canteen manager has put out an urgent request for helpers to assist in the canteen. We are very lucky to have some fantastic regular helpers on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays but desperately need helpers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you can spare a few hours to help out with basic food preparation and serving, Lisa would be very grateful. Just pop in to the canteen and see her anytime from 8:30am onwards. At the last P&C meeting, the draft School Uniform Policy was tabled. I would like to invite parents to view this document and provide feedback for discussion at our next P&C Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 22nd November. A copy of the policy can be collected from the front office at school, or viewed on the school’s website – www.cowrap.schools.nsw.edu.au. Next Monday Tahlee-Pearl Beckett and Jake Roberts will be representing Cowra Public School at the State NAIDOC Public Speaking competition in Dubbo. Tahlee-Pearl and Jake have been practicing hard with their coach Mrs Long, and will compete against speakers from five other schools from across NSW, in what is sure to be a very tough competition. We wish them good luck and hope they enjoy this wonderful experience. Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal

Year 2 Excursion to Canowindra Year 2 Excursion

On Thursday year 2 had a fantastic day in Canowindra. As part of our history program we visited the Age of Fishes Museum and the Canowindra Historical Society Museum. The fish fossils were very interesting, especially using the magnifying glasses. At the historical museum everyone enjoyed the very old buildings, one being an old school room with dip pens and ink wells. We saw an extensive range of very old machinery. The shearing shed, complete with the sound of sheep bleating and dogs barking was a hit. We all had a well-earned lunch at the picnic area behind the Age of Fishes Museum, followed by a play in the park. We finished our excursion by walking along Canowindra’s historical main street.

Stage 3 Excursion !!!REMINDER!!! Full payment for the Stage 3 Excursion is due on the 17th November

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART On Wednesday the Primary school held their Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off Day - and what a success it was! 13 stations kept the students active and jumping, showing their teachers and fellow students all of the new skills they have learnt over the last 7 weeks. Students were able to showcase individual, couple and group skipping skills as well as tricks they had mastered such as cartwheels, the worm, skipping a small rope within a larger rope, double unders and double dutch. Stay tuned for the final Jump Off collaboration video on the school’s Facebook page to see our students in all their jumping glory! Infants Jump Off will be held during sport next Friday (weather permitting).
