GOOD LUCK TO OUR SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR STUDENTS

Another busy week has flown by! Stage 2 and 3 choir and dance students selected to be a part of this year's "Schools Spectacular" are currently having a wonderful time in Sydney with Mrs Oborn, Mrs Ryan, Mrs Cobcroft and Mrs Long. Amongst the many hours of rigorous rehearsals, the students have enjoyed sampling the city life with a paddle at Manly beach, a ride on the Ferry and the chance to explore the city centre. All of their hard work will be put to the test during performances on Friday and Saturday at Sydney Olympic Park. We wish them all the best as they perform with over 5000 students from Public Schools all across NSW. What an incredible experience! This week the Infants playground has been buzzing with excitement as our new shade structure is put into place. Excavators and a large crane provided plenty of entertainment for students and staff alike! The new shade structure will sit over the playground equipment ensuring a sun-safe area for our K-2 children to play in during the hot summer months. Thank you to the P&C for their financial contribution towards this structure! At last Thursday’s Primary Assembly, the 2018 Student Leaders were announced. Congratulations to the following students; School Captains – Niamh Webster and Sasha Paki Vice Captains – Bridie Smith and Samson Miller Prefects - Hannah McKay, Zali Pearce, Jim Hazell, Brody Fiene Sports Captains – Annabelle Sturgiss (Brigalow), Kaili Buckley (Myall), Janet Cheng (Wandoo) and Ella Kilby (Kurrajong). All of our school leaders were elected by their peers and staff, and I look forward to working with these outstanding students as part of the Student School Leadership Team in 2018. Tomorrow our school will join with students and staff from Cowra High School as part of White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. At 12pm, students will march down Kendal Street and make their way to River Park where local identities, including Mayor Bill West, members of Cowra Police and other sporting groups will talk about respectful relationships. Following this, we will take the White Ribbon Oath, have lunch and participate in a variety of sporting activities to promote acceptance, tolerance and respect for one another. Notes to participate in this event went home earlier this week. If your child does not bring a note, or you do not wish for your child to participate in this event, supervision and alternate activities will be provided at school. A big thank you to Mrs SherylAnn Pulling and Ms Samantha Dunk for their coordination of our school’s participation in this event. At this time of year all schools are collecting data in order to write their Annual School Report. As part of this process we are required to evaluate aspects of our school policies and practices so that we know what is working really well, and which areas we may need to focus on improving. This year we will be evaluating “Satisfaction” and “Creative Arts”. Included with this week’s Newsletter are two surveys which we would appreciate you completing and returning to school by Friday 8th December. Your child is asked to place your surveys in the collection box located in the Office, so that all surveys remain anonymous. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this. Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal

NO STOPPING - REMINDER We would like to remind all parents that the NO STOPPING signs displayed around the school, in particular on the Coles carpark side, are not to be used as parking spaces or a drop off area. We have received several reports from concerned parents who have been walking their children to and from school and have almost been hit by cars pulling up in these areas. Cowra Police have been notified of this and will be increasing their patrol in these areas. The fine for stopping in a “NO STOPPING” zone during school times is $330 and 2 demerit points. Please be mindful of this and help us to keep ALL of our children safe!
