P u b l i c S c h o o l Term 2, Week 10

Wednesday, 28th June 2017 Make a Payment Dear Parents, Welcome to the last week of term 2 for 2017. This term has been an incredibly busy one with lots of wonderful activities and events taking place as well as some incredibly valuable learning in classrooms. Some of the many events that have taken place this term include: NAPLAN, Eisteddfod, Operation Art, Excursion for Public Speaking to Dubbo, Mother’s Day Concert, Sport (lots of it!), NAIDOC Week Celebrations, to name but a few. We will continue the busy pace right up until the end of the term with some further NAIDOC events, activities and a bit more sport! Diamond Debutante Ball Last Friday night the Annual Diamond Debutante Ball was held at the Civic Centre. We had 6 stunning Debutantes presented to our special guests Mrs Ros Ryan and Mr John Smith. It was a lovely evening for all who attended. Congratulations to the organisers and to all who were involved. I am sure that it is a night that will be remembered by all who attended for many years to come. Particular thanks to the driving forces behind this wonderful night Jo Densmore, Penny Smith and Beatrice Murray who, I know have spent many, many hours making sure that it all came together on the night. Congratulations ladies.

positive influence on thousands of students and their families. Mr Ryan has contributed to our school and the wider Cowra community in a huge way from his work with sporting teams, to students who need support in their everyday life, to his exemplary classroom teaching. Quite often I have been told by parents, carers and other teachers how well the students in his class do, how much they enjoy being there and how well prepared they are for the following years. The final Primary Assembly, which is being held tomorrow afternoon, (Thursday) will be Mr Ryan’s last as a teacher and will include some surprises! On behalf of the entire Mulyan school Community I would like to wish Paul all the best in his retirement, that he enjoys what his new life has to offer and that he remembers Mulyan Public School, its students, staff and community with affection. All the best Paul!

Mr Paul Ryan

Sport

This week Mr Ryan will be finishing up a wonderful career in Public Education and in particular at Mulyan Public School.

We are still competing in lots of sport and some events that have taken place in the last week include:

Mr Ryan commenced his career in 1979 at Wyangala Public School where he was first appointed. In 1984 he was then appointed to Mulyan Public School as a classroom teacher. In the 34 years that Paul has been at our school he has worked with children from Kindergarten to Year 6 and has had a huge and

exceptionally well but were unluckily beaten 18-12. This was a great effort against a school that is more than twice our size. Today, the Peachey Cup and Richardson Shield teams are in Dubbo taking part in the Western finals of the competition. I know that this team will represent us well. Thankyou to Mr and Mrs Beale and Mr Ryan for coaching the team and all the parents who have helped with transporting them. On Friday of this week, some of our Stage 3 students will be attending the Indigenous Sports Day as part of NAIDOC week. This sport day is held annually against students from Cowra Public School and is an enjoyable way to end the term.

Kindergarten Enrolments It is at this time of year that we start looking for kindergarten enrolments for the following year. The reason that we start so early is that this helps us with planning and also the number of students we have enrolled ensuring that our funding is maintained. If you have a child who turns 5 later this year or early next year and you want them to start school in 2018 please contact the school to put your child’s name on our list. Similarly, if you know of any families with children ready to start school in 2018, please urge them to contact the school. We are happy to show parents around the school.
