Term 3, Week 8 Wednesday, 7th September 2016
Dear Parents, What an exciting week! On Monday we were very privileged to host a visit from the Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove. While they were at our school their Excellencies visited two classrooms: 5B and 1J and spent some time speaking to the students about the students’ work, and where they live and what they like to do. Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove moved to the VTS for a whole school assembly where they were welcomed by our School Captains and entertained by our Aboriginal Dance group. Sir Peter spoke to the student body about his role as Governor General. Sir Peter invited the children to ask some questions and he was very accommodating in all the answers that he gave to each of the questions no matter how complex or how simple. All in all, our visitors were with us for approximately 45 minutes before they had to move on to their next appointment. Thank you also to all the parents/carers who ensured that the students were beautifully presented in school uniform. Now on to the school musical Mulyan On Broadway! School Musical

All our classes have been busily rehearsing their particular item. Parents and staff have been busy sewing costumes and making props and we are just about ready to go. Yesterday, we had a rehearsal up at Cowra High School hall where every class had the opportunity to

Lost Property At this time of year it is quite common for us to have a lot of lost and forgotten property that is taken off as the weather warms up during the day. Often this is just left lying around as the students hurry back to class after playing at lunch time. If names are on the uniform it is easy to return it to the correct student. Pieces of clothing including hats and jumpers without names end up in the lost property box. Sometimes children accidently pick up pieces of uniform without looking at the name on the label and it does not belong them. This oversight could go on for a period of time and the child who has lost their piece of uniform can be quite upset. Could I ask parents to check and ensure that your child has the correctly labelled piece of uniform and if not return it to school as soon as possible. We can then return it to the correct student. Please make sure that your child’s name is clearly marked on every piece of uniform or clothing they wear to school. Leave Starting next Monday, I will be taking some long service leave for the last two weeks of this term and the first 4 weeks of next term. While I am on leave, Mrs Cummings will be Relieving Principal and Mrs Beale will be Relieving Assistant Principal—Stage 2. Sport Congratulations and commiserations to the boys’ Rugby League team who travelled to Wagga Wagga for the next two rounds of the PSSA Knockout.
