P u b l i c S c h o o l Term 3, Week 5

Wednesday, 15th August 2017 Make a Payment Dear Parents, Welcome to week 5, the halfway point of this term. We have had a wonderful week with a few successes on the sports field, in academic areas as well as a lot of other very enjoyable activities taking place right across the school. SCHOOL PAYMENTS CLOSED As of Friday 18th (this Friday) payments of any kind, online or cash, will no longer be able to be made to the school. This is due to the new department system closing the current banking accounts and opening the required new accounts. Payments can once again be made as of Monday 11th September. Thankyou for your understanding and co-operation during this time. Debating Congratulations to our Premier’s Debating team who since last newsletter have competed in two debates. Firstly, against Bletchington Public School and then against West Bathurst Public School. In both debates our teams put forward some very strong arguments and really impressed the adjudicators, both debates ending with wins for our team. Congratulations Mackenzie, Jessica, Montana, Zoe and Kayne and to your coaches Mrs Baratto and Mrs Statham. Earn and Learn Our school has once again enrolled in the Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion. Please consider putting your stickers in the boxes for our school. At the end of this promotion we will once again be ordering equipment for the classroom based on the number of stickers collected by our community. Illness At the moment we have had a lot of illness going around affecting both students and staff. Quite often in the last fortnight we have had well over 30 students away on any given day as well as several staff members. If your child is ill please ensure that they stay at home to recover and hopefully lessen the

spread of this particularly bad flu strain. Thankyou for your help with this. Science Week This week is Science week and today we have had a wonderful day of experiments based around the theme of Science. We have had wonderful helpers from the students of Cowra High School who have been leading the students in their experiments. The children have had a wow of a time and have not only enjoyed each of the science activities but learnt a great deal from them. Thankyou to all the people involved in the organisation and the activities on the day, in particular Mrs Jeffries for her co-ordination of the whole day. A great opportunity for our students. Sport Last Friday, the District Athletics Carnival was held and we had several successes. Children who performed well and placed in the top 2 will now be granted opportunity to represent the Cowra District at the regional carnival at Dubbo later this term. Further details to follow. On Monday our girls Touch Football team travelled to West Wyalong for a very early game. In a very hard fought and what seemed like a very tense game our team come out winners, 3-2. Congratulations girls on a great win. Now our team will move onto the next round. Also on Monday, the boys touch football team played against Raglan public School and came away with a 10 -3 win. Well done boys and good luck in the next round. Good luck to our girls soccer team who play their next round match against Wallerawang Public School here in Cowra tomorrow. Next Wednesday our Peachey Shield team will be travelling to Sydney to take part in the ‘Legends Day’ against all the other winners of the local Peachey Shield days from right across NSW. This will be the second year our school will be represented at this day.
