P u b l i c S c h o o l Term 3, Week 7

Wednesday, 30th August 2017 All School Payments can be made as of the 11th September Dear Parents, Welcome to week 7. This term is rapidly moving along. Hopefully the weather will start to improve from here on in and the terrible spats of flu and illness will start to decline. Also on the weather warming up the children normally come to school with a jumper and as they run around they usually take it off and often forget to pick it up and take home. If it has a name on it, it is easy to give back to the correct student, however if there is no name on it quite often the jumper sits in lost property for a long period of time. Please ensure that your child’s uniform (particularly jumpers) are labelled clearly so that they can be reunited with their owners. Peachey Cup — Legends Day Congratulations to our Peachey Cup Rugby League team which competed in Sydney last week against 30 other schools from right across NSW in the winners section of the Peachey Cup. Our team played some great football and ended up winning their pool and advanced to the quarter finals. Unfortunately, they lost their game but ended up coming 6th overall. This is a great achievement and one which the team, school and their families can be justifiably proud of. Well done to all the players and to Mr & Mrs Beale who coached and managed the team. Thankyou also to all the parents who helped out with transport and support.

in the State Carnival against Regional teams from right across NSW. The girls performed very well and played some great games against some very strong opposition. Mackenzie was selected as captain of the team and performed this role magnificently. Well done and congratulations Mackenzie and Talieka. Today the girls touch football team are playing their next round PSSA match against Molong Central School. Good luck girls and details about this match will be in next weeks newsletter. This Friday several of our students will travel to Dubbo to take part in the Western Region Athletics Carnival against athletes from right across the Western part of NSW. Good luck to all our athletes who have been selected as part of the Cowra District team. Father’s Day BBQ and Sports Day This Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day and to help kick celebrations off we hosted our Father’s Day BBQ and traditional sports day here at School. (I enjoyed playing marble’s once again!). I hope all the Dads have had a great day today and wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday. Debate Tomorrow afternoon our School Debating team will have a debate against Eglington Public School as part of their round robin competition. Good luck to all our debaters. I know that you will put up a good set of arguments.

Sport

Peer Support

In further sports news our girls’ soccer team travelled to Parkes yesterday to take part in the Western Final against Middleton Public School. The girls played fantastically and came away with the win 4-0, making the team the Western Region Winners. Congratulations girls and their coach Deehan Crook. Thankyou to Mrs Bronwyn Johnson and the parents who helped with transport and support.

On Monday our Year 6 students will take part in a training day to become Peer Support Leaders. This training will be run by Mrs Wilson and Miss Boyd. After the Year 6 students have finished this training, groups of children from Kindergarten to year 6 will be formed to work on the theme ‘Anti-bullying’. Lessons will be conducted by our leaders for the last couple of weeks of this term and continue through to mid term 4.

Last week Mackenzie Crook and Talieka Burns took part
