b l i c S c h o o l Term 3, Week 8

Wednesday, 6th September 2017 All School Payments can be made as of 11th September Dear Parents, Welcome to week 8. I hope that the warming trend continues and that hopefully we can get a bit of rain very, very soon. We had a very, very busy week last week with a lot of events taking place both here at school and on the sports field. The term is moving rather rapidly and we will soon be up to the Spring Holiday period. Sport

will continue on with this momentum and go all the way to the State Finals. Well done Debaters. Father’s Day BBQ and Traditional Sports Afternoon

Last Wednesday, we had a lovely BBQ followed by a sports afternoon. We had a large number of dads, grandfathers, uncles, carers, etc. at school for this lovely event. I know the children loved it and I hope the dads and other visitors did as well. Thank you to Mrs Murray, Mrs Jeffries and Mrs Johnson who organised this event. I hope that all the dads had a lovely Fathers Day last week.

In lots of great sports news, we have some very successful athletes and teams who have competed over the past week. On Wednesday, our girls touch football team played against Molong Central School and in a nail biter of a game, came out eventual winners 54. They certainly kept the excitement going right up to the end. Congratulations, girls and Mrs Wilson and good luck in the next round.

Outdoor Classroom Day

On Friday, members of our school travelled to Dubbo to take part in the Western Region Carnival as part of the Cowra District team. All athletes performed very well and many produced PB’s — time, heights and distance. Well done. Particular congratulations to Blake Sandry, Charlotte Gray, Bailey Callaghan, Bailey Beale, Jayden Williams and Jessica Hayes who produced fantastic results and have been selected as part of the Western Region team to compete at the State Carnival later this year. Bailey Beale set a new Western record with a throw of 30.56m. Congratulations, Bailey.

Tonight the SRC is hosting a Disco for our Year 3-6 students. I know our students will have a great time. The disco runs from 6-7.30pm. Get your dancing shoes on, boys and girls and come and join in.

Debating

Tomorrow, our Kindergarten students are walking up to Carinya Pre-school to visit. While they are there they will read a story to the pre-schoolers as well as play games and have lunch with them. This should be a great treat for all involved.

Our school debating team held their final round debate against Eglinton Public School last Thursday and came away as winners. In a closely fought debate on the topic, ’School canteens should sell junk food’, we were the affirmative team and mounted some very strong arguments. This means that we are the Zone Champions and will now go on to meet the school who is the champion of their particular zone. Hopefully, we

Tomorrow, we are taking part in a national program called Outdoor Classroom Day. This day is designed to show the benefits of playing and working outdoors. Some of our classes will be taking part for some of the day or if the weather is fine, most of the day. SRC Disco

Teddy Bears Picnic On Friday of this week our Infants Department will be hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic for our local Pre-schools and our K-2 students. This should be a great day for all. Thank you, Mrs Murray for organising this. Kindergarten Excursion

Peer Support On Monday of this week, our Year 6 students took part in Peer Support Leader training before the first whole school lesson today. The students did a great job
