From the Principal’s Desk We have had another very busy week at HPS. Students have been practising for their School Spectular which is being held later this term in Sydney. We are also practising for our bi-annual Concert to be held at the end of the term. Bandanna Day – CanTeen’s Annual Fundraising Day – Supporting Children Living With Cancer Tomorrow we are holding our annual Bandanna Day. Students are to come in mufti, with a gold coin donation to help raise money for this worthy cause. Bandannas are also for sale at a cost of $5.00. If you wish to buy a bandanna they are available from the office. New School Discipline Procedures At the last staff meeting the School Discipline Procedures were reviewed and amended. Attached to this newsletter please find a copy of the new procedures. Please take the time to read these and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at school. Student Banking A friendly reminder that Holmwood School are reintroducing Student Banking to our school beginning Term 1, 2018. We propose to offer Complete Freedom Student Accounts from St George Bank. This account is a fee free account that has unlimited transactions and no fees. To commence the process we would like parents to indicate if they would like their child/ren to participate in Student Banking. Attached to this Newsletter please find additional information. Banking will take place at school once a week. Please contact the school asap if you wish your child to participate in student banking. As soon as we have finalised arrangements we shall send the details home to families.

Heather Bray Fundraising – School’s Spectacular Fundraiser We have extended our major fundraiser for our School’s Spectacular participants. TOMORROW is now the last day for all orders to be returned to school. This is an exciting opportunity for our school to participate in such a huge event, and to offset the cost of this event it would be appreciated if students could assist by asking family and friends if they would like to order some of the yummy cookies and slices available. LIBRARY DAYS I would like to remind families that THURSDAYS are Library days. Please ensure your child returns their Library books every Thursday. If they would like to keep the books for another week they may bring it in and re-borrow it. CLOSING OF SCHOOL GATES Due to WHS Regulations we would like to bring it to the attention of parents, caregivers and visitors to the school to please close the gates when they enter or leave the school grounds. Thank you for your co-operation. PAINT SHIRTS At the end of last term students took their paint shirts home for washing. Please ensure your child returns their paint shirt to school to avoid getting paint on their school uniforms. CHANGES IN CONTACT DETAIS It is extremely important that families notify the school if you have any changes in contact details. Please ensure you contact the school office and notify them immediately if any of your contact details change. SIGNING STUDENTS IN AND OUT OF SCHOOL Please ensure you attend the school office and sign your child in should they arrive late for school. If you need to collect your child early from school it is also a requirement that you call into the office and sign them out. VALUABLES AND PERSONAL ITEMS We would like to remind families valuables and personal items should not be brought to school. Should your child bring any of these items to school it is their responsibility to look after them.
CHANGE OF MORNING ROUTINE Effective immediately. Students are advised that when they arrive to school in the morning they are to leave their bags under the cola where they normally line up. No bags are to be taken to the classes until after roll call. Thank you. ATTACHMENTS New Discipline Procedures Canteen Meal Deal P&C CANTEEN MEAL DEAL Tomorrow Friday the P&C are once again offering their Special Meal Deal. This will be macaroni and cheese, cheesecake and a bottle of water for a small cost of $5.00. Please ensure that you return your order TOMORROW if you wish your child to order the meal deal. P&C NEWS The following matters were discussed at our last P&C meeting: A new uniform was discussed and when a sample is available it will be displayed in the front office of the School. Parents will be notified when this is available for viewing via the Newsletter. The P&C have voted to trial alternate meeting times – One month at 3pm held at the School, the next month at 7pm held at the Cowra Services Club. We are hoping those that cannot attend one meeting time may be able to attend the other. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 16th November 7pm at the Cowra Services Club. We look forward to seeing as many parents/caregivers as possible at these meetings as your input is valuable to us as well as being a way of keeping in touch of what is happening at your school. The P&C have voted to contribute $1000 towards the cost of this year’s School Spectacular. School Excursion - $4000 contributed towards the 2017 snow excursion after consultation with Kris Pagett The P&C have voted to become an Incorporated Entity. This does not change the way the current P&C operates other than; Enables us to apply for funding and grants from outside sources

Roadside puddle – Katie Kerr has brought this puddle to the attention of council. Council has agreed to survey the area, with any remedial works to be funded by council. Thank you Katie! Festival 2018 – We are investigating possible dates for 2018, with options to be presented at the next P&C meeting End of year commemorative tea towel with portraits drawn by children and staff will be on sale towards the end of the term. It was decided to purchase a large freezer that will be owned by the P&C for canteen.
The P&C have available for sale 4L tubs of vanilla ice cream at a very special price $3.00 a tub. Please see Natalie Crutch on Friday afternoon – or contact the school office - if you would like to purchase some of this ice cream. Also due to the limited amount of change available if correct or close to correct change could be paid it would be much appreciated. Thank you Holmwood P&C Committee
