From The Principal’s Desk Message from Mr David Lloyd, Director, Orange Education Office I am excited to advise that Ms Melissa Tracy has enthusiastically accepted the relieving Principal role at Holmwood Public School for 2019 with the possibility of extension. Melissa’s appointment will ensure continuity of learning for students and staff. Ms Tracy is currently relieving Deputy Principal at North Sydney Demonstration School and has a rural heritage and strong experience working with rural schools. In 2015, Melissa was the NSW English Advisor and in this capacity worked with small schools across the state to support program development for multi age classrooms through conceptual programming and innovative structures. Thus Melissa brings to Holmwood a very high level of teaching pedagogy on which she is looking forward to building partnerships with students, parents and the community. Regards David Lloyd

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Our end of year celebration to Bathurst Aqua Park (which is located on Chifley Dam) is fast approaching. If you have not returned your notes it would be appreciated if this could be done asap. Students will travel to Bathurst via bus. Students will depart HPS at 8.30am and return to HPS by 3pm. Parents are also invited to attend, but will need to find their own transport to and from the Bathurst Aqua Park.

FAMILIES ARE REMINDED THAT THE NEW FORMAL UNIFORM HAS NOW BEEN INTRODUCED.

There is no cost for students to attend this end of year celebration as our wonderful P&C is covering the entry fee for students to attend and the school is covering the cost of the bus. Parents are required to pay their own entry fee into the park, which is $25.00.

The formal uniform is to be worn on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We would like all students wearing the new uniform for the commencement of 2019. If you would like to purchase the new uniform for your child/ren and would like to discuss a payment plan, please call into the school office and Anthea will assist you. Our students, particularly our school leaders, are attending more out of school special occasions where the formal uniform is required to be worn. Occasionally students have Gymnastics or other extra sporting activities, when these are on students are to wear their sports uniforms, otherwise the sports uniform will be worn on Wednesday and Friday. Uniforms are available to purchase from the school office and the girl’s formal skirt can be purchased from Central West Uniforms located in the Centre Arcade in Kendal Street. You may claim a $10 refund on the purchase of your 1st formal skirt when you present your receipt to the school office. This is to help offset the cost as the girls new formal uniform is a little more expensive than the boys.

It would be appreciated if parents and caregivers could ensure that their child comes to school dressed in the correct school uniform, please note that thongs and sandals must not be worn to school. When the school holds their Mufti days students are not to wear singlets, thongs or sandals to school, this is a Health & Safety direction.

Please read all the information provided carefully, sign and return all forms including the permission note to school by Thursday 29th of November. If you require further information please do not hesitate to phone the school or you can google “Bathurst Aqua Park”.

We would like to advise that the cookie dough has now been ordered and will be delivered to the school on Tuesday 18th of December, the last week of school. 2019 CLASSROOM BOOK REQUIREMENTS I would like to advise families that HPS will once again be supplying all of the classroom requirements for students in 2019 for the small cost of $30.00 per student. This cost also includes the provision of coloured pencils, rulers and other necessities such as photocopy paper. This will mean that families will not have to purchase any items for the students to use in the classroom at the start of the 2019 school year. Payment for these packs may be made at the school office.
