name suggests proceeds will go towards the annual Outward Bound expedition in Semester 2.
Dear Parents The P&F Association is your organization and is there to promote the school and its people, and about creating good connections among our school family members. In this and in their generous financial support of the school they are an enormously successful body. Your participation will make it even better. Tonight at 7pm in the Staff Room the P&F will gather for their Annual General Meeting.
Earth Hour is coming and Stewardship is a moral obligation on every Christian (at least) and Earth Hour is a valuable experience for the young to learn more about living lightly on mother earth. March 28 8:309:30 (and any other time and date you can manage.)

Catholic Schools Week was well marked in Cowra: the CSW Assembly, Open Classrooms, Parents Morning Tea, Stage 6 mapping, K-10 Lunch and Heritage Day. Thank you for your support and participation during CSW as well as in all those other weeks of the year. Lent is progressing in the midst of all else that’s happening – core business should be reflected clearly in our daily priorities. Therefore, if our relationship with our God is central to our beliefs then it needs to be evident in our days. Stage 6: Year 11/ 12 progress: Our proposed subject offering is almost finalized. So early in Term 2 Stage 5 students will be invited to try an unofficial “selection” to gain an idea of how lines might be composed. The draft Stage 6 Course Handbook has been completed. Early in June we will conduct a major information session for parents and students about finalized courses. That event will mark the start of the selection process which will be undertaken family by family.
Help me to grow this Lent in an awareness of the gifts you place in my life and in a greater appreciation for your care. Give me the courage to ask for help. Amen

monumental ‘stacks’ that provided everyone with entertainment. After dinner students participated in a Games night, which students enjoyed. At the end of this, the extremely exhausted students had supper and headed to bed. The next morning students were up at daylight getting ready for their morning duty in the kitchen.

The Study Centre @ St Raphael’s Do you need a quiet place to do your homework and assessment tasks?? Come along to the Study Centre @ St Raphael’s where teachers are on hand to assist you! 8:00-8:45am Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Primary: Computer Lab 2 Secondary: Computer Lab 3 Year 6 Burrendong Camp Year 6 gathered at school with excitement on th Wednesday 4 March, to board the coach to Lake Burrendong for the annual Year 6 camp. The coach rolled out as the buzz of students’ conversations filled Miss Slaven and Mr Colemane’s ears. The students arrived at Lake Burrendong and were greeted by Sport and Recreation staff. After a quick meeting and designation of lodges, the students were in the pool to complete a swimming test. After lunch, students headed off to grass skiing and archery. It was great to witness the technique and accuracy of some archers and the balance and skill of students grass skiing. There were also a lot of P.O. Box 7, Cowra 2794 Tel: 6342.2940
After breakfast the groups headed off for canoeing, rock climbing and slip and slide activities. Unfortunately the strong winds blew the canoeists half way across the dam and this activity had to be aborted. Students made their way through the low ropes course instead which was quite challenging. It was great to see some students overcoming their fears and accomplishing personal milestones. The support and encouragement from peers was awesome and reflects what our school is all about. Following a yummy dinner the St Raphael’s students joined Blaxland Public Year 6 at a Dance Party which was enjoyed by all. By the time supper finished, there was plenty of yawning and rubbing of eyes from both students and teachers. Needless to say that it wasn’t long before discussions and antics in the lodges ended, replaced with some sounds of snoring. Daylight arrived and lodges had to be cleaned and ready for inspection before breakfast. The girl’s lodge was certainly the cleanest with the boy’s lodges showing signs of ‘first time cleaners’. They were also not the most fragrant places to be at camp! After breakfast students participated in Paint Balloon Combat. This brought out the team work and competitiveness in students. An exhausted and multicoloured group of students headed for lunch, then said their goodbyes before a reasonably quiet trip back home.

It was great to witness the team work, encouragement, support, bonding and personal growth of students during the camp. The students received accolades from the Sport and Recreation staff for their manners, participation and resilience. We’re sure the students would have slept well on Friday night!! Sports Uniform Year 3 and 4 Year 3 and 4 will be wearing sports uniform this Wednesday for Physical Activity. They will still wear sports uniform for normal Sport on Thursday. Primary Rugby Union 7’s Due to a clash of dates with the Diocesan Swimming Carnival we were disappointingly unable to attend the local Cowra leg of the NSW Primary 7’s Rugby Union Competition which was held on Tuesday 9th March. Sadly this has been the first year St Raphael’s has not been able to represent at a Rugby Union Competition in Cowra, since its conception by Mr Scott Hudson and myself approximately eight years ago. Therefore, last Thursday 12th March, St Raphael’s Rugby Union team travelled to Bathurst to compete in the Bathurst Region leg of this competition. The level of competition was tough with the boys gallantly representing St Raphael’s achieving two wins, a draw and a tight loss to the eventual Runner-ups. Game One we matched up against St Philomena’s Bathurst, where we were unable to gain regular possession. When we did have the ball we capitalised scoring some impressive tries. Alex Brown, Nick Brown and Bill Statham lead with some excellent runs and tough defence. As the hooter sounding Riley Langfield made a brilliant break with no defence in sight, disappointingly the final score being two tries each! Game Two against Cathedral Bathurst, was a different story with the team playing as one, capitalising on mistakes and regular turnovers. Kelsey Pollard was unstoppable in the backs scoring 4 tries from as many possessions in as many minutes. Noah Keen and Hugo Skene were impressive the entire game with brilliant defence and multiple possession turnovers. St Raph’s were run away victors 7 tries to 3. Game Three against All Saints Bathurst, was straight after the lunch break. The boys put in a great effort, however, whatever they tried came unstuck. There was a final pass to the winger that went to ground, a couple of unfortunate penalties, a knock-on almost over the line, a fumble and then regather for the opposition to score. But St Raph’s never gave up! Jackson McLeish and Harry Thuaux combining in defence and instigating many attacking raids without luck or reward. The final score All Saints three tries to nil. After their loss in the third game the boys had something to prove to themselves taking on Holy Family Kelso. With only a small chance of making the finals the boys went out with all guns blazing! Some brilliant defence and attacking prowess saw both Sam Kelly and Mitchell Amos dive over for tries in a game that St Raph’s took out five tries to nil. On behalf of the all the boys and myself, I would like to thank all the parents that provided transport to and from

Outward Bound 2015 Our first Outward Bound meeting for parents and students will take place this Tuesday 17 March at 5.30 pm in Computer Lab 3. Please support this meeting as it is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 9 students. We need to thank the P&F for allowing our 2015 parents to work at last years Cowra Picnic races. Many thanks to those parents that volunteered their time. The P&F have given us a wonderful donation to start our fundraising efforts this year! Thank you! Inel Date - Outward Bound 2015 Excursion Discounts When planning excursions accurate and reasonable costing are central issues. In the interest of clarity and accuracy, our discounts policy has been adjusted as set out below. In the case of numerous children from the same family attending the one excursion costing greater than $50 each, a discount is applied to the second, third and fourth child’s fee. This is consistent with the discount offered on CEO fees and School Services fees nd rd th (2 child - 20% reduction, 3 child - 40% reduction, 4 child - 60%reduction). School Fees Financially, we need to assess our position near the close of term. Thank you to all parents who have taken care of the current fee accounts by the due date. Numerous accounts, however, are overdue and your attention to this matter will be appreciated. If there is any difficulty or reason why payments are not currently being made please make contact promptly and a solution can be found with discretion and confidentiality.
