St Raphael’s Catholic School Term 2, Week 10/B Newsletter 22 June 2015

bathurstcatholicyouth.org

May every member of our school family enjoy a safe and refreshing holiday. Term 3 starts for students and th staff on Monday July 13 . Dear Parents As second term nears closure and children show signs of being frazzled we can look back over a term of wonderful achievements and feel deservedly proud. Thank you for the support you give so generously to our St Raph’s family. The Catholic Debutante Ball is composed of a host of elements, some are highly visible, many are “behind the scenes” but all are essential to the success of the function. This Ball was a wonderful success because each of the elements was so well done. Thank you to the organizers from the Parents & Friends Association. Debutantes were presented to Guest of Honour, Mr Scott Vickary and Matron of Honour, Mrs Barbara Callaghan. Congratulations to the lovely young ladies on centre stage, to their partners and to the producers of such a fine event in Cowra’s social calendar. On Wednesday the whole Secondary Department of the school will travel to Canberra for an integrated learning day. We hope to have this as the first of many annual whole-department events. Also on Wednesday, Stage 3 is having a Gold Day at school – experiencing something of life on the gold fields. Fingers crossed for valuable discoveries. Officially NAIDOC week occurs in coming weeks through the holiday. We will be celebrating this important event on Friday with Mass and an array of activities designed to engage, challenge and stimulate our children. Reports will be circulated at this week. I expect that it will be a time of recognition and celebration of the wonderful growth that has occurred during the first semester. We prayerfully remember Jaime and Kevin Hodges at this time, the seventh anniversary of their untimely passing.

Be: A Voice As Catholics we are called to Be a Voice – to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; to speak up for what we know to be right; to speak up for the kingdom of God in our world.

God of justice and compassion, You have spoken through your prophets and through the most humble of men and women. You call each of us to be your voice in this world. Give us the wisdom to recognise where your voice is needed and the courage to speak your transforming truth. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Word made flesh. Amen.
