well as a planning outline for classes in Semester 2. An outline will also be given regarding plans for technology resourcing.
We hold the people of Nepal in our prayers as they deal with the terrible loss and destruction of the earthquake.
Good Shepherd Sunday was last weekend and represents a time to focus on the ministry of priests. Support of our existing priests, support of our priests in training (currently 5 for the Bathurst Diocese) and consideration of that religious vocation for ourselves.
ANZAC Centenary Commemorations have done much to focus our attention on the sacrifice people have made and on the futility of war. We pray earnestly for the courage necessary to stand unambiguously for peace.
The sight of St Raphael’s students wearing the winter uniform well this term is indeed a source of pride. Thank you for presenting your children so beautifully. For the few who remain unclear about uniform policy, it is printed later in the Newsletter.
Thank you for the fine representation by St Raphael’s students at the ceremonies on Saturday. A particular element of significance was when three generations of McLeish men played the Last Post and Rouse together. Congratulations to Toby McLeish who played for the 70th time at Cowra ANZAC memorials.

Dear Parents
To put safety firmly at the forefront of children’s minds Bus Safety presentations for primary students are being conducted this week. As adults and models for our children we must walk the safety talk too by discussing, reinforcing and acting key safety messages. Representative sport is big this week. Cross Country competitors from the Primary Department will compete at Coolah on Tuesday, and from the Secondary Department at Orange on Thursday. Additionally, Primary Winter Sports Trials will be held at Tamworth on Friday. Safe travel and gratitude to all the families involved. Year 11 and 12 Parent Information Evening is being held on Thursday at the school at 7pm. Advance copies of the new Prospectus will be provided. An outline of the Curriculum for 2016 Preliminary courses will be given as well as the timeline for the Course Selection process. A Capital Works progress report will be given as P.O. Box 7, Cowra 2794 Tel: 6342.2940

Help us to Help the Children Keep sick children at home. Children’s health doesn’t normally improve during the day – If they’re sick when they leave home, they’ll not only infect their classmates but they’ll be home before the day is out. Plan the collection place and time with your child. Let the children know before they leave home when and where they will be collected. Minimise changes of routine. Children often feel confused and uncertain and they can scramble what you think is a simple message. Commit changes of routine to writing. If teachers / office staff clearly know what you’re trying to achieve they can help. Plan ahead for collection of children during the day. A note to the teacher regarding an appointment guarantees that your child can be at the foyer ready to go at the appointed time. Give plenty of notice. Last minute phone calls about changed plans cannot be guaranteed to be delivered in time. Notify the school of changes to your circumstance. It is vital that we have current address, phone number, employment contact, emergency contacts at the very least. Clearly label your children’s clothing and equipment, no matter how old the children are or how responsible they think they are. School Uniform Policy School spirit, pride in the school and a strong sense of belonging are encouraged by the wearing of the school uniform. 1. The uniform should always be neat and tidy. 2. Jewellery is not permitted other than a signet ring, watch, crucifix on a fine chain and, for girls, one sleeper or plain stud earring in the lobe of each ear. 3. Make-up or nail polish is not to be worn. Visible body piercing or body art are not permitted. 4. Hair is to be clean, tidy, neatly cut, out of the eyes, tied back if long and of a consistent and natural colour. Ribbons, hair bands and clips, if worn, must be maroon or black or white or made from the fabric of the school uniform. 5. Parents are asked to provide the correct school footwear. Shoes should have black (boys and girls) leather uppers that would comply with current safety standards. There must be no coloured markings on the shoes. (Please note that shoes with elevated heels and dance shoes do not comply with safety standards.) 6. Students are required to wear the school hat while outside during Terms 1 and 4. Students are allowed to play at recess or lunchtime only if their hats are worn. Hat style is black bucket hats for all students. This “policy” has been introduced to help combat the problems of skin cancer in later life. Sport / PE Uniform Infants/Primary/Secondary Black regulation school shorts embroidered with school logo (StR) White polo shirt with black embroidered school crest. (Diocesan polo shirt may be worn on normal sports days) Plain white above-ankle socks. (Representative sport may require black & white football socks) Safe joggers. School jacket and plain black parachute pants. The school jacket can be worn with school “uniform”. To be completely unambiguous: A practice by some girls in the secondary of wearing pyjama pants beneath their skirts is (obviously) unacceptable. Note the specifics of the earring policy – girls only and a single stud / sleeper in each lobe only. In the case of a “mufti day” attire will be modest, safe and tidy. Outward Bound 2015 Year 9 students have started fundraising for Outward Bound 2015. Our first fundraiser is a WOOD RAFFLE. Tickets are on sale at the front office. $2/ticket or $5 for 3 tickets. All Outward Bound students have been given booklets to sell. We will also have a table in Kendal Street on Saturday 2nd and 9th May. We will draw this raffle on 19 May at our secondary assembly. Many thanks to Mr Peter Heilman for organising a large trailer load of wood and Mrs Jodie Toohey for organising all the tickets. Be prepared for a chilly Cowra winter! Many thanks for your continued generosity and support. Mrs Inel Date - Outward Bound 2015 Clothing Pool The clothing pool will open after Primary Assembly on st Friday, 1 May (around 3pm) for anyone looking for spare jumpers and jackets etc for winter. PAY IT FORWARD! We all know a person that has been affected by cancer, and that’s why, as year 7’s, we have chosen to raise and donate money for the cancer kids at Westmead Children’s Hospital. Cancer is a very serious condition, affecting all ages. We are going to be doing many, many things to raise money! Everyone with a wood heater knows the struggle of getting wood in the cold rain during winter, and for that reason we will be holding a wood raffle out the front of Woolworths (watch this space for the date). We would really appreciate it if you could support us whilst we try to raise money for kids with cancer. Emma, Kate and Olivia!
