St Raphael’s Catholic School Term 2, Week 5/B Newsletter 26th May 2014
Dear Parents Every child in our school has the right to feel safe. All students K-10 have participated this term in workshops addressing the terrible but real issue of bullying in all its forms. Presentations have been tailored to be appropriate for the students’ age and stage of development. Physical, verbal and cyber bullying have no place in our school and will continue to be directly and firmly addressed. Those who provoke outbursts are considered every bit as guilty as those who snap, and direct action is being taken to address all aspects of any incident. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking this is a simple issue, it will be eradicated only by continued vigilance, strong home/school partnership and excellent communication. Spelling and Public Speaking are the two big representative events in this week. The Diocesan Spelling Bee for Secondary students is being conducted at St Mary’s Catholic School, Wellington, so the best spellers from all the diocesan secondary schools will gather on Wednesday. Likewise on Thursday for the best Primary spellers from around the diocese. Public Speakers, Primary and Secondary will travel to Bathurst to compete in the CWA Public Speaking competition. Good luck and safe travel for our Cowra representatives. Through the ongoing generosity of our strong supporter, Carla Sparkes, the P&F Association is conducting a Vigorella Fashion Workshop and High Tea on next Sunday afternoon at St Raphael’s Hall from 2pm. For all those keen to know and see what’s hot this winter, mark your calendars. Make this a great week.

Unfortunately, the Cubs have already done so due to the resignation of their only leader and with only a handful of Scouts registered, their section will not be able to continue either. If you have experienced the enjoyment of being a Scout in the past, please put your hand up to help the next generation th and get us to our 100 milestone. Contact Richard Bryant on 0427 002905.
