St Raphael’s Catholic School Term 2, Week 8/A Newsletter 14 June 2016 A number of staff changes will be in place around the start of term 3. As those appointments are settled you will be informed via the newsletter. Dear Parents The Debutante Ball is composed of a host of elements, some of those elements are highly visible, many are “behind the scenes” but all are essential to the success of the function. The newly formed organizing committee has invested heavily in making Friday evening an event to be treasured by debutantes and their guests. For various reasons some people were unable to be photographed for the school portraits last week. Please ensure that you present on June 22 which is the portraits back-up date Gate locking during school days might seem over the top but we do need to be vigilant when it comes to the safety of students. Soon after 9am each day gates are secured and that means anyone wishing to enter the school has to do so through the front office. Tonight Year 10 students and their parents are invited to attend an Information presentation for Year 11, 2017. The meeting commences at 6:30pm in the MSLC. For these students it is the first of several steps towards finalizing courses for 2017. At the end of next week discussions with each family are being conducted to further refine choices. By the start of Term 3 subject lines will be composed and course offering finalized soon after. Best wishes to the Year 2 Reconciliation group for Thursday evening. Reconciliation would have to be one of the most sorely needed ingredients in composing a peaceful world. Best wishes to the Year 6 students undertaking the annual external Religious Education assessment tomorrow. The secondary Chess representatives are competing tomorrow at Lithgow – travel safely and compete strongly men. Last week a band of prospective Kindergarten students attended classes while their parents met (walked, talked and shared morning tea). Another rd opportunity at 10am on the 23 will see another group of students and parents visiting. Please inform everyone you know who may like check our school that they are warmly welcome.

Holy Year of Mercy “We need to practice the art of listening, which is more than simple hearing. Listening is an openness of heart which makes possible that closeness without which genuine spiritual encounter cannot occur. Listening help us to find the right gesture and word which shows that we are more than simply bystanders” -Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium
