Dear Parents Welcome to the new term – ahead is a ten week session clearly focused on learning and sprinkled with items of enrichment.

Next year’s Year 11 students receive their Stage 6 course confirmations this week. Staff recruitment processes also commence. Elective courses are finalised for students in Years 9 and 10 and they will be notified in the near future. Kindy Start is offered later in Term 3 and into Term 4, for parents and children to have a very close look at the offerings of “big school” and to determine readiness for kindergarten. If you want to be included in our communications please notify Genevieve at the front office. A reminder that teachers provide a Study Centre for 45 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8-8:45am in Computer Lab 3. Students of all ages are welcome to attend. Spiritually, there are four big events this term: this week the Year 10 Retreat is held at Mulgoa, next week Year 10 and staff members hold the Vinnies Winter Sleep Out, in Week 5 there is the Year 6 Confirmation th Retreat followed by Confirmation on August 15 . Athletics dominates our sporting calendar this term with the Diocesan K-10 Schools Athletics competition here next week, then the Diocesan Primary and Diocesan Secondary competitions in Week 4 followed by Polding and CCC Athletics in Weeks 8 and 9 respectively. Communally we mark the Breakout Anniversary in Week 4 and the Cowra Show in Week 10. The P&F Association will be meeting only twice this term July 20 th and August 18 (TBC).

We hit the school and in a blinding flash won all six games. We celebrated with family assorted cookies and Doritos (my contribution to the trip). The trip home was very interesting with Ben Statham winning most of the dares. Thank you Mr Cooley for organising another fantastic trip. Let's hope our next game is a home one for your sake. K – 10 Schools Athletic Carnival th July 24 – Friday Week 2 St Raphael’s will again be hosting the K-10 Schools Athletics carnival. To make this a well organised and successful day we need your help. Please consider helping out on this day. Fill in the form at the end of the newsletter and return to school ASAP or phone the school. Chess Report The all boy St Raphael's chess team left Cowra at 9:30am, strong willed and yet slightly anxious to meet our opponents at Trundle Central School.

Safety of Children Collection of children from the convent Rose Garden is a short session from 3:10-3:20. At 3:20 children still waiting will be brought to the front of the school to await collection with the other students. A reminder to all our parents that school zones remain in place for the safety of our children and families. School zones operate on all gazetted schools days, which are all days the school is open, even pupil free

days. Kindy Start Programme – Kindergarten for 2016 Parents are asked to please complete the form at the end of the newsletter and return it if they have a son or daughter about to start school next year so we can start collating numbers. Information about the Kindy Start programme will follow in the next few weeks. Thank you. School Photos Parents are reminded they received individual shoot key numbers to order school photos online when their child was photographed last term. If you have lost the number, please email Cliff Dykes Photography at: cliff@cliffdykes.com.au Please state your child’s name, class and school and request the shoot key number.

Our two hour trip was broken up by a visit to the Parkes telescope. While there we watched a quick 3D movie about telescopes and what we discovered about the universe because of them. After that we went to all you can eat Pizza Hut to make sure our tanks were full for what lay ahead of us.

PCYC Cowra Safer Drivers Course for Learner Drivers The next PCYC Safer Drivers Course will be held at PCYC’s Young Road complex on Friday 24 July (Module 1) and Saturday 25 July (module 2). The course consists of module 1, being a 3hr facilitated group discussion and module 2, being a 2hr in-car coaching session. Cost of the course is $140.00 and participants receive 20 hours credit in their Learner log books upon completion of the course. You must have 50 hours of actual driving experience recorded in your log book to register for the course. Each course is limited to a maximum of twelve participants. Booking forms are available at PCYC’s Young Road building. After School Care PCYC will be running after school care for school children from Kinder to Year 6 commencing in term 3 of 2015. ASC will run at the Binni Creek Road building from 3.30pm (bus collection) to 6pm. A PCYC carer will be on the Cowra Bus Service bus run to ensure the safe arrival of students booked in for after school care. The bus service starts on Bus 4 at Mulyan, then transfers to Bus 2 at St Raphael’s before heading to Cowra
