SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Introduction Cardiff Sixth Form College is very proud of its contingent of students from Botswana who have all excelled under the college’s care and guidance. What follows are the testimonials of some of our shining stars from Botswana!
Thamani Mazhani International Head Boy 2013 Former student of Legae Academy AS Level Grades: AAAA Subjects Taken: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths Career Aspiration: Medicine
The choice I took to study abroad was the right one. From day one I have been growing from strength to strength, realising the potential in me that I did not know existed. From improving my debating skills to learning an extreme sport in 6 months, the personal achievements I have achieved in Cardiff are ones to remember for life. The teaching has been
excellent, with extra help always being offered, sometimes even before I realised I needed it! The career guidance I have received has been well tailored to me and an invaluable asset, as tertiary education can be quite a daunting and murky task, especially for an international student. Coming to CSFC has made it possible to streamline my dreams with reality and set me on the right path to attaining them.
Cardiff Sixth Form College is not just another institution that gets you a step closer to university, but a family that guides you steadily, supports you fully and strengthens you immensely to polish you into becoming the best you could be for university and life.

It is small enough to know everyone, so it is impossible to feel like a faceless individual. The teachers here work twice as hard as the students, prompting us to put more effort in. It is this overwhelming student/teacher relationship that proves efficient and beneficial. I have learnt how to say “Hello. How are you? in 4 languages so far, and look forward to taking even more advantage of the diverse cultures in this college. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, provided they don’t mind a little bit of hard work, in the hopes of reaping the fruitful results.
Kutlo Kebaikanye Former student of St Joseph’s College AS Level Grades: A*AA Subjects Taken: Physics, Chemistry, Maths Career Aspiration: Engineering
Life at CFSC is one of a kind. I’ve had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and study amongst the best students. The competition here is immense, but beneficial since it keeps me on my toes all the time. The school management offers all possible assistance to ensure they pave the way for students to make it into university. The staff and students are friendly and cooperative
which makes school enjoyable. We have the opportunity to visit recreational facilities such as gyms where we play all sorts of sports.

My experience at Cardiff Sixth Form College has been one of great growth and has broadened my mind to new things. The college prides itself on hard work and dedication. The tutors are always available to offer help to us when we need it, and do not accept anything below perfection. This is evident by the long hours the tutors put in and the amount of tutorials we attend. The college helped me to
realise that it takes more than just good grades to get into a top university, one has to be a well-rounded person. Apart from the academic work, the college helps me secure other things like volunteer work and work placements, which are vital university requirements. In simple terms, Cardiff Sixth Form College eases my way into university, with hard-work on my part. The college is comprised of students from all over the world, which exposes me to new cultures and helps me learn to appreciate their differences and ways of living.
Boago Mokgatle Former student of Naledi Senior Secondary School AS Level Grades: AAAA Subjects Taken: Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Economics Career Aspiration: Medicine
For me, coming far away from home to study in the UK and adjusting to a new environment was not always easy. Though we come from different backgrounds, it was my fellow students who helped me to settle in, as we share similar struggles and dreams. I also received an enormous amount of support both academically and socially from the school staff. I was privileged to work with great mentors and was given many work experience opportunities, all of which solidified my interest
Boago in medicine and its contexts. I have found the college incredibly rewarding and its competitive nature brings out the best in every student.

Life at Cardiff Sixth Form College can only be described with one word – ‘amazing’. The infrastructure of the college is unmatched. From the luxurious housing, to the well-designed canteen and extremely spacious classrooms, it is almost impossible not to be satisfied. Apart from these majestic physical features that the college has, it is the people in the college who make it amazing. The teachers provide us with rock solid academic support, the kitchen staff
serve us healthy and delicious food and the admin staff help keep us well organized. Above all, the homely feeling the college provides us is what I appreciate most, and the pastoral care has made it easier for most of us to cope with being away from our families. The city of Cardiff, being rich in history, culture and vibrancy provides the perfect back drop to the college. With endless work experience vacancies and numerous leisure centres available, both business and pleasure are catered for. Cardiff Sixth Form College is a great college in a great city.
Krishna Ramesh Former student of Maru-A-Pula AS Level Grades: A*AA Subjects Taken: Maths, Physics, Economics Career Aspiration: Economics
When I arrived at this college I arrived with high expectations. After all, I was coming to the best A level college in the UK.
Teto Ivan Seitshiro Former student of Lobertse Senior School AS Level Grades: A*AA Subjects Taken: Chemistry, Maths, Physics Career Aspiration: Engineering
At first you may find everything hectic, but as time goes on you acclimatise and things become easier. The school builds you into a well-rounded individual. It develops you mentally, and you begin to act and think maturely, as an undergraduate should. Through various programmes and clubs, such as work experience, debate, DOE (just to name a few), you develop communication skills, leadership skills, and creative and innovation skills; all of which come in handy when it comes to finally applying for university. The support of the teachers is overwhelming. They sacrifice so much for us and you can be sure there will never be a time when you feel lost with no direction. When you need someone to talk to Mrs Thompson, the Vice-Principal, is there to listen and you can be confident that what you share with her is absolutely confidential. All in all I think the school is a brilliant platform to prepare yourself for university especially if you’re aiming to apply for the Russell Group universities.
However, Cardiff Sixth Form College has surpassed all my expectations, and then some. Right from the time I arrived we were made to feel at home. Being a boarder from overseas, special care is taken to ensure that we get everything we need to feel at home. From housing that is better than I have seen in any other school, to food prepared by a professional chef, we basically have it all here. All of this is without even dwelling upon the academics. Almost all our teachers have past experience as examiners and ensure we get all the help we could need, no matter when it is or what it is about. Along with the teaching, the admin staff are always cheerful, and will never turn down an opportunity to help; the student welfare care is unparalleled. We have access to state of the art facilities, containing everything one could possibly think of, from indoor tennis courts to a comprehensive weights section! We also have the opportunity to participate in a seemingly endless stream of competitions, each helping us improve a particular skill to help us become all round top achievers. Cardiff is a city that is vibrant and exciting. The school is located 5 minutes away from the hub of the city, so there is always something to do. That, accompanied with the wonderful nature of the local citizens, makes Cardiff an amazing place to spend your student years. If you want to get into a top university, whilst having some fun at the same time, Cardiff Sixth Form College is the place to go. I made the decision to come here and I will never regret it!
Dipesh Sahi Former student of Maru-A-Pula AS Level Grades: AAAA Subjects Taken: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths Career Aspiration: Medicine
Cardiff Sixth Form College is an outstanding college that has exceeded all my expectations, in every way. The helpful and friendly staff ensured that every measure was taken to make me feel right at home from the day I arrived. The luxurious accommodation is better than I could have hoped for and has meant that I can live in Cardiff in the utmost comfort. The food is appetizing and there is a wide variety provided to the western and eastern options. This makes it impossible to get bored of this exotic menu. The teachers at Cardiff Sixth Form College are well read in their subjects and are always willing
to put in extra time and effort to aid students should they need it. The friendly admin staff are always willing to help students in any way possible. We have access to modern facilities at college and at the gym. The gym allows us to stay fit and play the various sports we enjoy. Cardiff is a beautiful city that is amazing to live in. The college is five minute from the centre of the city so there is always something to do and we have easy access to all the shops and cinemas. Cardiff Sixth Form College is a brilliant college and the environment created by the college has made learning and living abroad enjoyable. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent here and I’m pleased with my decision to come to this college.
Lesego Gosenyang Former student of St Joseph’s College AS Level Grades: AAAA Subjects Taken: Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics Career Aspiration: Medicine
CSFC really is a place for academic excellence. I believe that the school does a fantastic job at ensuring that its students are well equipped with all the knowledge that they require regarding their current course, as well as the one that they intend on doing at university level. The school
Lesego has been my home away from home and the kind of support that I get from both the teachers and the students is amazing. I believe that choosing to come to this school is by far the best decision I have made regarding my academic life.
Pearl Pabale Former student of Good Hope Senior School AS Level Grades: AAAA Subjects Taken: Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics Career Aspiration: Medicine
CSFC really is a centre for academic excellence. The teaching staff does a superb job in making sure that every student’s needs are met. They genuinely care about you as an individual, which is quite a comfort when you are an international student. The accommodation is also very good and rules are put in place to make sure that you are safe throughout. If you are a sports person you will love the membership to the sport and leisure complex and the free transport twice a week that the school provides. You will get a lot of
opportunity to explore the course you will like to take up in university through a series of work experiences that the school will organise for you. These are invaluable for university applications, so are definitely worth doing. The students are what make the school. They really are young adults who know what they want and know exactly what to do to get it – they are a real inspiration. Everyone is really nice and will make you feel welcome into their school and it is really good to know you are around people who want you there, especially for first time boarders.
Academically, as biased as this next statement may sound, this college is the best in the UK. Aone Sethibe

I left home for the first time in my life, not knowing what lay ahead. Being Daddy’s little girl meant that I hadn’t been away from my parents for more than a weekend, and going to school abroad was beyond daunting for me. Well, so I thought. I chose Cardiff Sixth Form College because of their academic merit and reputation. Little did I know that this college was more than that. The extra care and help I received from the school was unbelievable. Not only did they ensure that the “Bots Crew” got great
accommodation, they made sure we were as comfortable as possible. If I have any problems, I know for sure that they will be addressed and fixed. Academically, as biased as this next statement may sound, this college is the best in the UK. Not only do teachers make sure you understand what is being taught during lessons, we get extra tutorial sessions and lots of mocks, which thoroughly prepare you for your exams. I am not by any means insinuating that A-levels at this college are ‘a walk in the park’, if anything it’s quite the opposite. It is challenging and very competitive, but the teachers are willing to assist you as much as is possible to help you attain the highest possible mark; provided you also take the initiative to put the effort in and do your work. Before joining this college, I had to choose between a scholarship to go attend a school in the United States of America (which the Top Achievers Scheme would’ve also paid for) and this college. I chose Cardiff Sixth Form College. As a student wishing to pursue medicine, this was not only the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life, but it was definitely the best and most rewarding.

Cardiff Sixth Form College has made a huge impact on the most important 2 years of my life. Being here has helped me determine what I would like to spend the rest of my life doing materials science and engineering. I have taken full advantage of the various opportunities the college has provided, which has benefitted my success. The college believes in hard work and determination and I tried my very best to reach their standards. With the college’s unending support I’ve overcome all the obstacles encountered and emerged victorious. I have been accepted to my first choice university and I give all the credit for this to the college, who encouraged me to work hard and be the best I can be.
The two years I have spent here have helped me decide the universities that I would like to spend the next 5 or 6 years in. The support that I have received from my teachers in helping me work towards my goal has been overwhelming! With their help I have a secure spot to pursue my dream of studying medicine in a top university! There are a lot of opportunities for students to get involved in CSFC which help in developing skills essential for success.
The college is also a place to meet with people from all over the world and is a great cultural melting pot! Mpho Molosiwa
