Cycling 路 Culture 路 Journalism www.volatamag.cc
VOLATA is a new cross-cutting project about cycling culture which aims to deepen knowledge of the sport: its history, its myriad disciplines, its stars and fans. At VOLATA we value cycling both as a competitive sport and as a pursuit which incorporates knowledge, socialization and personal positioning. With VOLATA we want to establish ourselves as an alternative source for news and information on cycling, complementing pre-existing cycling media.
THREE AREAS OF ACTIVITY: MAGAZINE New Spanish-language media with a limited-edition print version which we are committed to shaping into a unique publication with a distinctive personality. Our aim is to make cycling into an intense journey through timeless journalistic genres. We love in-depth reports and interviews, and we like to make them even more appealing by presenting them with an attractive design which gives prominence to photos while encouraging reading. Our inspirations are Rouleur and Conquista (UK), Soigneur (Belgium), Pédale (France) and the football magazine Panenka (Spain). VOLATA is as interested in contemporary content – today’s top-level competition, road cycling especially – as it is in exploring the history of the sport; it will also look at new disciplines from the world of urban cycling as they come into vogue.
WEB SITE As well as hosting the digital version of VOLATA magazine, the website will provide an outlet for audiovisual material which will complement the print content, maintaining its unique style and high quality. There will be Spanish, Catalan and English versions, as well as a Premium area for subscribers and Volata Cycling Club members.
SOCIAL CLUB We love cycling clubs and have one ourselves. We even have our own jersey! Through our club we will organize cycling trips, conferences and professional gatherings and we will provide member discounts on products. We will also publish books. This club will be based in Barcelona, but thanks to our website we’ll be able to reach cycling enthusiasts all over the world.

READER PROFILE At VOLATA we are committed to a multidisciplinary vision of cycling, and with that objective in mind we aim to appeal both to the cycling connoisseur, and to the general reader interested in reading and photography. We believe that these profiles are compatible and inclusive and that they combine to form a discerning readership that is hungry for a deeper understanding of the world of cycling. Each issue holds a central dossier about one subject which give us the change to get deep into that, bet for exclusive contents and forget about the urgency of the breaking news. To properly cater for these two profiles VOLATA works with a portfolio of contributors comprised of specialised sports writers and cultural journalists and also works on building collaborations with other internacional magazines that can follow similar goals.
