2020 POSITION STATEMENTS OF THE COEUR D’ALENE, POST FALLS, AND HAYDEN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
Public Policy Purpose and Focus: • Our Chambers advocate for the elimination of governing policies that unnecessarily restrict the free flow of commerce and industry. • Our Chambers support policies that protect our environment and quality of life. The Chambers support sustainable management of our natural resources which benefit both industry and the health of our public lands.
Legislative Priorities that we Support: • Increased transportation investments by both ITD and local jurisdictions. • Local option, voter-approved sales tax authorization. • The creation of a first time homebuyer’s pre-tax savings account.
• Our Chambers support policies that provide sufficient infrastructure to support not only current but future business needs.
• Educational programs focused on early childhood literacy, career-based learning opportunities, and post secondary programming.
• Our Chambers strongly support workforce development, from early education to post secondary programming to supply a highly skilled worker pool.
• Funding Medicaid expansion by increasing the tax on tobacco products and applying the same tax to electronic vaping products rather than limiting access to Medicaid.
