Statement and Purpose
To identify citizens of the area who have demonstrated the potential for leadership; leaders who are involved in the community to make a difference; to provide information which will develop knowledge and understanding of our community, its complexities and its potential; to create an opportunity for participants to meet and exchange ideas with current community/area leaders; to motivate participants to pursue leadership role in the community; and to provide participants an opportunity to network and discuss issues in an informal and learning environment.
Program of Work •
To recruit, select and graduate a quality class of future leaders.
•
Focus on differentiating Leadership Coeur d’Alene from all competitive Leadership programs in the region.
•
Focus on ensuring that Leadership Coeur d’Alene is THE premiere Leadership program in the State of Idaho.
•
Involve the community’s youth into the program to not only help shape and retain our future leaders but to learn from them as well.
•
Schedule retreat for Leadership Committee and perform S.W.O.T. analysis in order to develop a strategy for the next decade.
•
Redesign Mission and Vision Statement – focusing on increasing value of the program to Chamber members and the Community.
•
Determine what is uniquely marketable and improve awareness of the program through exposure in the media.
•
Actively engage past Leadership Graduates in keeping them involved with Chamber events, activities and programs.
•
Increase financial position of the Toni Sayler Leadership Scholarship fund.
•
Continue Youth Leadership Program with School District.

Continue Advanced Leadership Program.

During their year in Leadership Coeur d’Alene, class members attended a variety of lectures, demonstrations, tours and activities that allowed them to gain a better understanding of our community. The class met one day per month, with each day focused on a different community theme. They discussed a variety of issues with community leaders, participated in team building exercises and were introduced to businesses and organizations in Coeur d’Alene that have been key factors in our area’s history, development and daily life. Members from the Leadership Class of 2017 were in charge of planning each session, taking into consideration their personal experiences in the program. This task allows former classmates to put their skills to work and demonstrate their growth in leadership. At the end of each day, the class conducted a “Best of the Best” discussion, where they looked at the pros and cons throughout the day and provided suggestions for the future. The comments from each day were collected and used at the Class Retreat to help plan the 2019 Leadership program. The following provide a summary of each day through Leadership 2018. The Leadership Committee thanks all of the community members who have supported the Leadership program throughout the years and have made this experience possible for hundreds of future leaders.

Purpose: To meet classmates and learn about Leadership CDA. Meeting for the first time, Leadership Class of 2018 shook hands with one another and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine for the Icebreaker session at Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce. After an intense round of “getting to know you Bingo” the class of 2017 introduced themselves and explained each role they held, favorite moments of the previous year and their personal thoughts on the program. We finished the day with an amusing game to help everyone remember names and picked nicknames that will haunt us for the next two years. Everyone left excited and eager to start this great adventure.

Purpose: To acquaint the class with the history and heritage of Coeur d’Alene. Darla gathered information that included what we liked about the day, what we did not like and what can be changed, deleted or improved upon. Darla will write up Best of Best notes and present to the group for review and additional comment.
After lunch, we listen to Norm Gissel, Sandy Emerson & Denny Davis who shared with the group several of the challenges as it relates to cultural diversity and specific discussing community’s response to racism and hate groups (Nazis).
This was our first full day meeting. The goal of the day was to have a better understanding of the early history of Coeur d Alene. There was a presentation by Cai Matheson who outlined the cultural, history, natural resources, and tribal sovereignty issues. This presentation was followed by Robert Singletary who spoke about the role of the military, development of Steamboats and trade, the discovery of gold and then silver. We participated in a walking tour that showcased several of the historic homes and buildings along Sherman Ave and downtown CDA.
Our next discussion was led by Anna McKahan, who guided through an assessment that would show each of us our work style in” Color.. At the end of the assessment we were able to identify our dominate color style and learn more about each of our teammates work styles. Anna provided us with a color chart that we can use as a tool when communicating with others that are not in our color style. Our final presenter was Marcee Hartzell from CDA 2030. She provided us with a copy of the 2030 CDA Implementation Plan. This implementation plan outlined the six themes and the 36 strategies and 180 actions in all. The CDA 2030 is an on-going effort supported by government, business, and civic/community leaders. As leadership CDA members there are several opportunities to be involved and support six themes based on your personal interests and experience. We ended our day with an election of the officers. We voted in President, Ashley Yates; Vice President, Eric Titus; Secretary, Kim Stearns; Treasurer, Mark Wild; Best of the Best, Darla Gunning; Tail Twisters, Doug Reifschneider and Todd Trengove; Social Coordinator, Nathan Rodgers, and Historians, Kathryn Arrand, and Jessica Adams.

Purpose: To educate the leadership class about the available healthcare resources and to make a personal commitment to health and wellness.
We started the day off at Kootenai Health. Dr. Mclandress and Hannah Raynor talked about how the hospital has grown and become a high-level training and teaching center in the community. Jeremy Evans spoke about the history and vision of Kootenai Health. Mike Baker from Heritage Health talked to us about how they work towards providing quality healthcare regardless of income and insurance. He also spoke about their community programs like Kroc-RX. One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Heritage Health mobile unit. Next, JT Patterson, Kootenai Health Occupational Therapist, led the group in some light exercises and stretches that can be done right at our own desks. Una Alderman and Heidi Frazier from Northern Idaho Advanced Care Facility talked about working with patients that are recovering from respiratory failure. Rick Rasmussen from Northwest Specialty Hospital spoke to us about their mission to provide quality surgical and medical care cost-effectively.

We also listened to a panel discussion with Lisa Bunk and Don Robinson about behavioral health and substance abuse. Josh Burton, Jason Crouse, and Whitney Fehringer talked about their wellness program to help employees improve their health and quality of life. Travis Roth and Alanna Grover from ALK Pharmaceuticals explained how their research-driven company benefits the community. Lisa Thomas from Ally Health talked to us as well, about a telemedicine plan. People can speak with doctors by phone in non-emergency situations.

Purpose: To better understand how an effective leader can communicate with their stakeholders using variety of mediums and communication tools.
The day started off with at the CDA Press, and Nils Rosdahl, a Columnist for the CDA Press, told us about the history of print and how to write a story for the press. Scott Maben, Communication Director for the CDA School District, suggests we get to know the reporters and trends in stories so we can provide the best content when submitting a story, press release, etc. to the press. Finally, Mike Patrick told us about the role of the CDA Press in the Community and the disruption in the newspaper world. We took a tour of the press before we moved on. Next, Corey Jeppesen, Cally King, and Bretta Provost shared with us how to use social media platforms to engage our audiences to build our businesses. Robyn Nance, Anchor for Good Morning Northwest, gave us a breakdown of her day and explained how news stories get picked. John Baechler, Hanna & Associates, showcased some TV ads and explained how to connect with the audience. Emily Schwing, Northwest News Network, and Cole Turnbull, Coeur d’Alene Advise Givers, talked to us about the role radio and podcasts can have as well. We also heard from Debbie Semog, from Avista. She talked about the importance of planning and emergency communications. Craig Etherton from the CDA Fire Department also spoke on the subject of emergency communications. He told us how you can now text 911 in an emergency, if you are in a situation you can’t call.

Purpose: To develop knowledge and understanding of the issues facing our national, state and local land, water and other natural resource practices impacting the balance between commerce, growth, sustainability and quality of life. Today, we started at Idaho Forest Groups’ Chilco Mill. Breakfast was sponsored by NW Tile and Kootenai Electric. David Gabrielson, Hancock Forest Management, and Mike Henley, Idaho Forest Group, presented. They told us all about the timber industry in this area and a safety briefing. Next, we took a tour of the Avista Dam. We got to see the South Channel, control room, and the outside of the dam. We also got to see the Waster Water Treatment Plant and heard from Jason Sweet about Wildlife and Fisheries. Chris Corsi from the Department of Fish and Game talked to us about their mission, “The people of Idaho own the Wildlife,” and his thoughts on leadership. We also learned about Solid Waste Recycling, Kootenai Electric Cooperative, Hecla Mining, Panhandle Health District, and the CDA Lake Restoration and Management Plan. People from all of these places and programs explained how they work towards protecting and restoring the environment from pollution. Finally, Alyssa Gersdorf talked about the Rathdrum Prarie Aquifer. She told us about the geology, hydrology, and quality of water that it provides to the area.

Arts & Recreation day is about developing a balance in work and play that will lead to a refreshed approach to problem solving, innovation and creating a well-rounded life. Enjoy! We started the day hearing about the outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. Chris Caro from Coeur d’Alene Bike Co. talked to us about how they’re encouraging local bike shops to work together. They are working towards promoting all levels of bike riding, not just the Ironman level. Todd Dunfield from the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation talked about their plans to preserve and develop current and new trails. Randall Butts at the Farragut State Park spoke to us about the history of the park and the old Naval Training Station. We took an interesting and educational tour of the Museum at the Brig. Next, we heard from Susan Nipp, Author of the Mudgy & Millie books, about the importance of reading to children. Stacey Barney from the Kroc Center talked about the importance leadership took when creating awareness and raising funds to bring the Kroc Center to our area. Ali Shute from the Arts & Culture Alliance spoke about the role of arts in the community and their programs like Artwalk, Musicwalk, Riverstone Music Series, and programs for children to get involved in the arts. Jennifer Drake, Arts Commission Chairman, and speakers from the CDA Symphony, Christian Youth Theater, and CDA Summer Theater talked about their roles in placing art in the community. We toured two art galleries and saw works from local artists and learned about other services they provide to the community. We ended the day at Silverwood Theme Park. We learned about the history of Silverwood, how it brings people from all over the country to this area, and how they work with marketing to accomplish that.

Purpose: To understand how our area leaders improve our standard of living through the creation of jobs, the support of innovation and new ideas, and the creation and distribution of wealth. You will be introduced to businesses and industries that have a significant economic impact locally to help further understand the key elements of our area’s economic health.
Leadership Attribute: Clear Vision, Innovation, Strategic Planning, Communication, Forward Thinking, Cooperation. We started the day listening to Steve Widmyer and Hilary Anderson from the City of Coeur d’Alene. They talked about infrastructure planning and building for the future. Memorial Grandstand, Downtown Parking Garage, East Sherman revitalization, and the Atlas River Project are all projects the city has to update the infrastructure to prepare for the future of CDA. Next, CDA Chamber Chairman, Mike Ward, told us how the Chamber works to raise awareness of issues that affect the North Idaho Community. Scott Hoskins also talked about the state of Urban Renewal and how they work in conjunction with Jobs Plus/Economic Development Council to assist with public infrastructure. The leadership class participated in a lively discussion on Real Estate and development in our city. Gynni Gilliam from the Economic Development Committee talked to us about the State of Small Business Development. They try to attract new business to our area and help companies with the relocation process. We heard from David Bobbitt, John Mitchell, and Sam Wolkenhauer about different aspects of the current and future economy.

We took a tour of Buck Knives and then attended a panel of business leaders discussing the State of Business in Kootenai County. CT Buck from Buck Knives and Peter Riggs from Pita Pit USA talked about the history of the businesses and how they have and are growing/expanding.

Purpose: To highlight the work performed by public safety leaders in protecting and serving citizens in our community; to explore current and future challenges in public safety and the criminal justice system. The day started with an overview of the CDA Police Department from Chief Lee White, Captain John Kempf, and Undersheriff Dan Mattos. A central point they touched on is how they handle the population and crime increase during the summer months. Deputy Dan Knight, Air Marshall, talked about anti-terror agents. Stu Miller, Special Weapons/Tactics, spoke about how the Sheriff Department, CDA Police, and Fire Department are involved with the SWAT. Next, we heard from Eric Hildebrandt from the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force and how they work crimes like kidnapping and drug work. Deputy Fletcher talked to us about Marine and Water Safety and how DUI and drug-related arrests on the lake have risen. Sandy Vonbehren, and Jen Keyes explained the importance of emergency planning and communications. J.T. Taylor talked to us about the Juvenile Detention Center and how they help with life skills, dependency issues and exploring spirituality. Lee Richardson and Eric Shetfield from the Kootenai County Jail talked about the number of inmates and needed security has risen over the years, and gave us a tour of the jail.

Purpose: To acquaint the Leadership Class with aspects of local, state, and federal government as well as transportation topics/issues.
Today we heard from the mayors of Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden. Steve Widmyer from Coeur d’Alene spoke about the new parking garage, the real estate market, and the study of East Sherman. Ron Jacobson from Post Falls spoke about the challenges they have with parking, building permits, and lack of workforce. The Mayor of Hayden, Steven Griffitts, talked about industrial growth and how to prepare for and balance growth. Next, we heard from County Commissioner Chris Fillios, and he explained what a County Commissioner does. Paul Amador spoke to us about his first term in the house and representing the 4th District. Shawn Keough, Idaho State Senator, talked to us about how to reach your legislators. Regional Directors for US Senator, Mike Crapo, and US Congressman, Raul Labrador, talked about how they deal with federal issues and how to get young people involved in politics. Tyrel Stevenson, Legislative Director for the CDA Tribe, explained how the Tribe’s Government differs from regular governments and their need to work with other Governments. Glenn Miles, Kimberly Hobson, Jody Bieze, Steven Kjergaard, and Scott Marikis talked about planning for the increase in transportation. We heard about the City Link public transportation, and air transportation. We ended the day with a tour of Empire Airlines.

One of the highlights of the day was participating in a mock trial. This is a public hearing for approval of Special Use Permits for Adult Entertainment per Article III of Chapter 17.09 of the Coeur d’Alene City Code. The whole leadership class participated and had a lot of fun. The approval was granted.

Purpose: To acquaint the Leadership CdA class with aspects of K-12 and higher education opportunities and issues. We started the day with an overview of K-12 education from Mike Nelson, Director of Curriculum & Assessment. Betty Price and Mary Ruch from Hope for Homefront talked about their homeless programs specifically for students that are homeless. Every school district in our nation must have a person to handle this program. The Director of KTEC, Colby Mattila, held a Q&A and talked about all of their education programs including HVAC, auto collision, auto repair, diesel, welding, engineering, construction, and computers. Programs are getting better and stronger. Dan Nicklay, Scott Thomson, and Julie Yetter spoke to us about the importance of School choice. They all talked about what their schools do to keep children engaged with learning. They make sure students get the education they need and want to continue on to College. We also heard a panel discussion about Post-Secondary opportunities in North Idaho. Matt Emerson, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Rocky Owens, LCSC, and Rick MacLennan, President of North Idaho College, all talked about how they work to make sure students are successful. We listened to a panel discussion on Community Support for Education, talking about PTA fundraising, workforce training, helping teachers, and creative learning outlets for kids.

Purpose: Increase awareness of human services, the needs in our community and the organizations and volunteer opportunities that exist to help meet those needs.
We started the day off by hearing Mark Tucker and Kari Stark from United Way talk about our local economy and how the average family doesn’t make enough to support themselves. Cindy Wood from Family Promise spoke to us about their programs for homeless children and their families. They help with childcare, employment, education, and transportation. Food Bank Manager, Darrell Rickard, gave us a tour of the food bank and discussed what Community Action Agencies do to help the community. Jeff Conroy from St. Vincent de Paul told us how their facilities like thrift stores, Trinity Group Hall, women’s and men’s shelters are open to the community. They can help with housing, veteran services, childcare, homelessness, clothing, food, parenting, and more. Terri Johnson and Frances Huffman with TESH spoke to us about how they provide opportunities to people with disabilities or other challenges. Their goal is to help people affected with a disability work towards self-sufficiency, and participation in the community.

Purpose: To review and evaluate the 2018 Leadership Coeur d’Alene Program, assign session planners for the class
of 2019 and to choose members to serve on the Leadership Coeur d’Alene Committee with the Chamber of Commerce. With all ten sessions complete, it’s time to reflect and evaluate the 2018 Leadership Couer d’Alene program. Today’s activities also included assigning session planners for the class of 2019 and selecting new members to serve on the Leadership CDA Committee with the Chamber of Commerce. After some breakfast and coffee, we enjoyed the view at Elk Point while the session planners explained the functions and responsibilities of the Leadership CDA Committee. Moving right along, we reviewed the pros and cons of this years’ sessions’ Best of the Best. We had great speakers and interesting topics. Most of the sessions were well planned out. Our group enjoyed getting out and enjoyed our walking tours to break up our day. Some of the top sessions where Environmental Day, Law and Public Safety Day and Quality of Life Day. Some of our favorite speakers were Robert Singletary, our local Coeur d’Alene historian, Rick Rasmussen, Northwest Specialty Hospital, Charlie Nipp, John Young, and John Beutler from Economic Day. Our favorite tours we took were Hospice of North Idaho on Healthcare Day, and Buck Knives on Economic Day. What was next? I can’t remember. Oh yeah, the Memory Madness Game! A quiz testing our ability to remember the first and last names, nicknames, and companies of our classmates. Grab your markers and sign up for 2 to 3 sessions! Then switch gears, put on your thinking cap and running shoes, and race around to answer Leadership CDA Trivia. Last order of business was to elect this year’s Leadership Committee Members.

Kathryn has lived here her whole life and she learned a lot about our town she never knew. Kathryn was awarded Rookie of the Year her first year in Real Estate. Together her husband and her have built a great team, continually being awarded amongst the top 5% of Coldwell Banker Agents. 2014 Rookie of the Year, 2015 Diamond Society, 2016, 2017 & 2018 President’s Elite. Kathryn enjoys everything Real Estate, spending time with family on Lake Coeur d’Alene or up the Coeur d’Alene River. Kathryn is married to husband Cory and has three Kiddos: Hunter, Emma & Ryker.

Mark’s Leadership experience was that all sessions were good and provided opportunities to become more aware of the community. The initial session (Setting the Stage) was a great way to start because it gave a nice overview of the history of the area. Other memorable sessions were Environment Day, Economic Day and Quality of Life Day. Getting to know fellow classmates and learning about their roles and contributions to the community was a positive and rewarding experience. Mark is a member of Rotary and is involved in church (finance committee and leading Bible studies). Mark enjoys outdoor activities hiking, biking, skiing, camping, golf. Mark is married to wife Barbara and will celebrate 30 years of marriage this year! Together they have son Michael, daughter Emily, and son Andrew. Emily is planning to get married in May!
Joel Bowlby D.A. Davidson As a lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene, Joel was surprised by how much he learned and the access that was given to areas he had yet to see. A few really stuck out: the tour of the Chilco Saw Mill, the Post Falls Dam, and Empire Airlines. Through Leadership Joel’s best experience was building new relationships with other participants in the class. Joel keeps busy volunteering and helping at his kids’ school and is a past Thursday Evening Rotary Club President. Joel is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC), Chartered Wealth Strategist (CWS), Portfolio Manager. Joel enjoys skiing, running, gardening, and floating rivers. Joel is married to wife Autumn and together they have a daughter Kendalyn, son Henry, and Fletcher the Weiner dog.

Missy is a member with the Lady d’Alenes and volunteers for St. Vincent de Paul Party in the Park, Chicks & Chaps, Guns & Hoses, Ever-fi, and Bank on. Missy was nominated for 40 under 30 but was not selected BUT became Branch Manager before the age of 30, she is very proud of this accomplishment! Missy enjoys the outdoors with her husband and their boxer Kona, loves to go on adventures, fishing, hiking, boating as much as possible and shooting guns. Missy is married to the most amazing man for 12 years and have a 6 year old Boxer named Kona!
Amy Butler STCU Being part of Leadership really opened my eyes to what’s going on in the community in which I live and work. It has sparked new interests and passions, and has made me want to be a bigger part of my community, and do more to be involved in what goes on around us all. It has given me more appreciation and validated how grateful I am to live in Northern Idaho. I enjoy watching my son play hockey, and my daughter with her gymnastics. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and trail running. Family includes husband Ben, 15 year old son Alex, 8 year old daughter Peyton. Three dogs 16 year old Australian Shephard Bounder, 10 year old Border Collie Lucy, and an 8 month old German Shephard Buck.
Nikki Droll Kootenai Title Nikki’s favorite day in Leadership was Public Safety Day, she really appreciated learning so much about the community overall. Nikki is a member of Idaho Land Title Association (ILTA) and is a softball coach. Nikki was promoted to Title Manager in March 2018 and enjoys skiing, hiking, and kayaking. Nikki has a wonderful husband and a 25 year old stepdaughter and a 13 year old that are her everything.
Kelley’s favorite experience in Leadership was learning about all of the businesses and activities going on in the Coeur d’Alene community. Kelley was awarded the Kootenai Health Diamond Award for Service Excellence. Kelley is married to husband Ben and together they have daughter Erin and son Steven.
Darla Gunning Community Library Network As a relatively new resident in the area she learned about the wide resources this community offers & the wide support our business community provides for philanthropic endeavors. Darla is involved in the Idaho Library Association, Public Library Association, Association of Rural & Small Librarians, and American Association of University Women Cd’A Branch. In the past Darla helped develop and manage broad-based regional & statewide library programs and coordinated millions in grant awards each year. Darla enjoys travel, genealogy, photography, and digitizing old photos. Darla has an extensive family in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho including her mother that is 105 years old.
Nicole Hammons Boys & Girls Club Of Kootenai County Through Leadership Nicole really enjoyed being able to go behind the curtain and learn about a community that cares so much for its residents and how all the moving parts come together creating such a wonderful place to live and a raise a family. Nicole volunteers for Delta Gamma Sorority as an Advisor, and volunteers for Bryan Elementary PTA. Nicole was awarded Top 30 Under 40- KCYP, Greek Advisor of the Year- University of Idaho, Employee of the Year- Coeur d’Alene Casino, and is a Board Member for The Lady d’Alene’s. Nicole likes to read, travel, go to movies, attempt golfing and adventure with her family. Nicole is married to husband, Conor Hammons, together they have two kids Avery (8), Rowan (6), 3 dogs and two cats.

Karen loved the diversity of speakers, topics, and organizations represented in the Leadership program. Particular highlights included Caj Matheson on the history of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, the Cd’A Perspectives panel and all of the tours. Karen is a member of the Human Resources Network of North Idaho (HRNNI) and is President Elect for the Inter Mountain West Chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPAHR). Karen enjoys running and snowboarding with her husband Stewart, an IT Executive/Consultant, and children Drew (13) and Lauren (10).
Joe Hurlocker Costco Joe’s favorite experience through Leadership was meeting new people in the community & getting behind the scene look into businesses in the community. Joe is involved in Project Search which is job training for special needs youth and adults in the community. Joe was awarded corporate recognition for outstanding customer service. Joe enjoys snow skiing, bike riding and bowling. Joe is married to wife Margaret and together they have sons Nathan (22) and Alec (21).
Caitlin Kling Hawley Troxell Caitlin’s favorite part of Leadership Coeur d’Alene was getting to meet so many great people in the community and getting to learn more about the work they do and their contribution to making Coeur d’Alene such a great place. Caitlin is a Board Member with Children’s Village and is a member of Idaho Women Lawyers. Caitlin enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, and hiking. Caitlin is married to husband, Alex, and they are expecting their first child in June. They have a wonderfully spoiled dog named Bruno.

Through Leadership Carlos enjoyed getting to see a side of Coeur d’ Alene that people may not know about and interact with so many different people from different industries that he might not have experienced without Leadership CDA. Carlos is a member for the Coeur Group and enjoys golf, spending time at the lake, and enjoying the local craft breweries in the area. Carlos is married to wife Torie and has a son Carter.
Stuart Malley Allwest Testing & Engineering Through Leadership Stuart really enjoyed learning the history and more about what makes North Idaho click. Stuart enjoys hunting, skiing and hiking. Stuart is married to wife Christian and together they have a son Sidney.
Melissa Newcomer Kootenai Electric During leadership, Melissa really enjoyed the behind the scenes view of the businesses and organizations that impact our community. In her professional career, Melissa is a member of Touchstone Energy’s Cooperative Relations Committee and is a Certified Cooperative Communicator. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys cooking with her kids, dabbling in photography, and relaxing on Lake Pend Oreille. Melissa is married to husband Jeremy and together they have two sons, Caiden and Elliot.
Doug Reifschneider Pita Pit USA One of Doug’s favorite experiences in Leadership was meeting all the quality people in the class and learning more about the community. Doug is a member of the Steering Committee (aka The Board) for the National Restaurant Associations Executive Study Group known as MEG. MEG = Marketing Executives Group. Doug enjoys cycling and hunting.
Nathan Rogers NR Consulting & Business Services Through Leadership Nathan learned about the community support for those in need. Nathan is involved with the Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls Chambers, CASA, Activate, Real Life Ministries, and ABC. Nathan was voted 2018 Best Custom Consultant in Post Falls. Nathan enjoys being a Gearhead, Sports, Mexico, Diving, Dirt Bikes, community and church. Nathan is married to his amazing wife and business partner and together they have a beautiful 8 year old son.
Joshua Sattler Northwestern Mutal Through Leadership, Joshua learned phenomenal information on inner workings of Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding area. Joshua’s favorite experience was the mill tour, Post Falls Dam, and Buck Knives. Joshua is involved in Sunrise Rotary, was nominated for Top 30 Under 40 and is co-owner of Renew Aesthetics and IV Hydration Bar. He enjoys all that the PNW offers including hiking, hunting and spending time on the lake. Joshua is married to wife Angela, and they have three children: Tyler and twins Emma and Lawson.

Kim volunteers for Adopt a Classroom Cd’A 271 District, Parking on Sherman Project, and is a member of Women’s Council of Realtors. Kim was awarded Senior Real Estate Specialist and Resort/ Investment Specialist. Kim enjoys fly-ins, travel, hiking, kids and going to the gym. Kim is married to husband Carl who owns Civic Mind Media and together they have Kimmy (17) who is a Jr. at LCSC and works at the Kroc Center, and Benjamin (9) who is a student at Skyway Elementary School.
Eric Titus Numerica Credit Union Eric’s best experience was getting to know his class mates. He also really enjoyed learning about the Native America history in the CDA area. Eric is a Leadership CDA Committee Member, Treasurer for Rotaract Club of Spokane, Logistics Chair for Junior Lilac Parade, and was awarded Kootenai County Top 30 Under 40 for 2018. Eric enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with friends. Eric is married to his amazing wife Hillary. They are expecting their first child in May.

Todd is a current committee member on Membership Outreach Committee, was awarded King of the Chamber 2012, Chair of Membership Outreach 20132017, and Committee of the Year Membership Outreach 2016. Todd enjoys watching my children in sports the last 16 years. Todd is married to wife Kris of 21 years and together they have daughter Kali, senior at ISU who just enrolled in Graduate School, son Tyler who is a senior at Post Falls and state high jump and long jump champion.
Mark Wild Insurance Northwest Mark’s favorite experience was the entire Economic Development Day. Having the opportunity to interact and gain insights from some of Coeur D’Alene’s greatest business leaders was amazing. Mark is a member with North Idaho Building Contractors Association and past AVP, North Idaho Association of Health Underwriters, Fraternal Order of Eagles #486, and Past President and Treasurer for Matt’s Place Foundation, Inc. Mark is a graduate of Producer Development Program- Safeco Insurance -2016, Certified Idaho Workers’ Compensation Specialist- Foundation Level -2017, Panhandle State Bank- Mortgage Loan Officer of the Year -2005, 2007. Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active including running, swimming and weight training, boating, golf, and skiing. Ashley Yates Columbia Bank Throughout Leadership Ashley’s best experience was meeting and getting to know her classmates and understanding the Coeur d’Alene community better. It was truly hard to pick the favorite thing learned, you learn a ton of amazing things throughout the year, but especially loved the Chico Mill tour. Ashley was President of the Leadership CDA 2018 Class. Aside from Leadership, Ashley is a Board Member at Tesh Inc., and a Board Member for the Kootenai County Young Professionals. In 2017 she also received the Kootenai County Top 30 Under 40 award. Ashley has a wonderful Husband, Jake Yates. 3 whirlwind kiddos, 2 by birth and 1 by heart; Jocelyn, Charlie, and Brexton and a dog named Sage.

The Coeur d’Alene Chamber’s Advanced Leadership Program’s first class session began January 2017. Advanced Leadership is open to previous graduates of Leadership CDA and provides a focus on education and the principles of leadership. The program consists of half-day session once a month for five months. Topics covered include: Leadership 101- Principles of Leadership, Community Leadership/Servant Leadership, Discovering Your Purpose/Passion, Values Based Leadership, and Communication and Leadership in Crisis.
