Introduction The 1st regular meeting of National Working Group GARP-VN in Phase II was held in Hanoi, March 15th, 2012 with attendance of ten NWG members, three guests from agriculture sector (Agriculture University and University of Science), 1 representative of Infection control and 1 representative from WHO: 1. Objective The objectives of this meeting were to: - summarize achievements of GARP-VN in phase I - discuss and approve Phase II activities - funding for GARP-VN Phase II Achievement of GARP-VN in Phase I Firstly, Nga briefly presented about achievements of GARP-VN in Phase I. Much of the research started during GARP phase I has been completed and has either been published or submitted for publication including Situation analysis report; Multi-drug resistant Vibrio cholereae O1 varient EI Tor isolated in northern Vietnam between 2007-2010 NHTD (published, Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2011); Acinetobacter baumannii study (with NHTD); Antibiotics dispensing in 30 private pharmacy (with HMU); AB use and resistance surveillance in 15 hospital (with MoH); AB use and resistance in aquaculture (HAU); NDM1 study (NIHE); Colistin internet survey. GARP Vietnam has been very active in establishing a network for GARP with advocacy meetings of MoH, WHO, drug distributors and GARP 1st Forum in India.

Presentations from agriculture sector: - Dr. Phan Thi Phuong Hoa (Hanoi University of Sciences) presented her PhD thesis about “Sulfonamide-resistant bacteria and resistance genes in aquatic environments of north Vietnam�

- Dr. Phan Dang Thang (Hanoi Agriculture University) presented about survey of Abs use in fish/shrimp production for domestic markets in Vietnam and Abs residue in aquaculture products.

GARP-VN Phase II activities and funding - Develop an AMR national action plan (with MoH) - Finalize report on AB use and resistance in 15 Vietnam hospitals in 2009 and publish in MoH website - Writing report on AB use and residue in Vietnam aquaculture for publication - Point of care CRP test in community - Network database: WHONET - Policy meeting with WHO, MoH and MARD - Funding: CDDEP, PDC, Other
