2A Boys Qualifiers

Senior Isaiah Huffstutler of Elkton placed fourth in the 100m dash, with a 11.33.

Junior Matthew McKay of Rising Sun earned second in the 1600 (4:33.77). Senior John Ferry of Rising Sun also qualified in the 1600, earning fourth (4:40.55).

John Ferry of Rising Sun earned second in the 3200 (10:04.1). Junior Daniel Katz of North East earned seventh (10:22.13), also qualifying.

Elkton’s 4x100 of Solomon Pope, Isaiah Huffstutler, Allan Tate, and Joshua Brill took first in the region (43.78).

Senior Jaden Nichols of Elkton took third in shot put (46’ 6). His teammate, senior Zyan Williams took fifth (44’ 8.5), also qualifying.

Garrett Rees, Rising Sun junior, earned third in discus (128’ 5). North East junior Jacob Blankenship took fourth (126’ 11) and Rising Sun sophomore MJ Brusio earned fifth (125’ 0), both qualifying as well.

Elkton sophomore Jared Addams took first in high jump, clearing 6’ 0. Rising Sun sophomore Jake Edwards took second, clearing 5’ 10.

Rising Sun junior Travis Bare qualified in the long jump, jumping 20’ 7 into second place.

Junior Mekhi Lockhart of Elkton triple jumped 41’ 10.25 into second place.

Junior Rian Krasman of North East qualified in pole vault, clearing 10’ 9.

2A Girls Qualifiers

Sophomore Sage North of Elkton qualified in the 200, running a 26.9, earning third place. She also qualified in the 100m hurdles, earning sixth place (16.73).

Sophomore Leanna Rodgers of North East finished third in the 800 (2:22.8), third in the 1600 (5:16.07), and second in the 3200 (11:10.41). She qualified in all three events and set new school record in the 3200.

Rising Sun senior Anna Callaghan earned fourth in the 800 (2:24.27).

Sophomore Katie Callaghan of Rising Sun earned fifth place in the 100m hurdles (16.6), third in the 300m hurdles (47.43), and third in triple jump (34’ 0.75). She set a new school record in the 300m hurdles.

Sophomore Madi Cleary of Rising Sun earned fifth in the 300 hurdles (48.81). She also earned fifth in triple jump (33’ 0.5).

Elkton’s 4x100 relay of Shadai Givens, Myracle Miles,

MyAven Ewing, and Sage North finished fourth (51.9).

Rising Sun’s 4x400 relay of Anna Callaghan, Amanda Callaghan, Caroline Mercer, and Katie Callaghan finished second running a 4:10.44, setting a new school record.

Rising Sun’s 4x800 of Anna Callaghan, Isabelle Griffith, Katelyn Lacey, and Amanda Callaghan finished second running a 10:17.04.

Junior Caroline Mercer of Rising Sun finished first in shot put (33’ 9.5) and discus (121’ 8) setting a new school record in the discus.

Sophomore Haille Dry of North East finished third in discus (98’ 3), and junior Sophia Amoretti of Rising Sun earned eighth (89’ 11).

Senior Brin Khanjar of North East earned second in high jump, clearing 5’ 2.

1A Boys Qualifiers

Perryville senior Rocky Ramsland finished seventh in the 100, running an 11.56. His teammate, junior Sean Beard ran a 11.58, qualifying in the same event.

Sophomore Brady Martin of Perryville ran a 2:04.66 in the 800 meters, earning third place.

Juniors Ethan Dell and John Conley of Bo Manor each qualified in the 3200, with Dell earning third (10:31.17), and Conley earning fourth (10:40.01).

Three Cecil boys qualified in the 100 hurdles. Ty Stiffler, a Perryville senior, finished fifth with a 16.11. Sophomore

Dain Lenz of Bo Manor earned sixth with a time of 16.41. Sophomore Deyshawn Henderson of Perryville earned ninth running a 16.83.

Dain Lenz earned fourth in 300 hurdles (42.41).

Perryville’s 4x200 of Evan Beynon, Owen Kilduff, Sean Beard, and Zach Ayers ran a 1:33.55, finishing fourth.

Bo Manor’s 4x400 of Angel Granado, D’mari King, Dain Lenz and Andrew Lenz earned second place (3:39.35).

Both Bo Manor and Perryville’s boy’s 4x800 qualified. Perryville’s team of Brady Martin, Anthony Tomphson, Rowan Gatch, and Michael Young won first with a 9:02.12. Bo Manor’s team of John Conley, Ethan Dell, Mason Darsney, and Jacob Seiple finished fifth with a 9:05.82.

Sydney Phillips, Perryville senior, earned first in shot put with a throw of 48’ 7. His teammate Cy McCall finished second with a throw of 44’ 0.5.

Perryville junior Thomas Kilby earned third (127’ 5) in discus. Sophomore Andrew Lenz of Bo Manor took fourth (115’).

Senior Owen Fabian of Bo Manor qualified in the pole vault, clearing 10’ 1 in fourth.

Rocky Ramsland earned first in long jump, jumping 20’ 8.25. Andrew Lenz earned seventh, jumping 19’ 4.25. Deyshawn Henderson jumped 41’ 1.75 into second place.

1A Girls Qualifiers

Colleen Nelson, a Bo Manor senior in the 400m finished second, running 1:03:27.

Katherine Scott (5:29.17) and Skylar Pizzulli each qualified in the 1600 and 3200. Scott ran a 5:29.17 in 1600 finishing first and a 11:50.15 in the 3200, finishing second. Skylar Pizzulli finished in 4th place in a time of 5:40.01 in the 1600, and a time of 12:07.84 in the 3200, finishing third.

Abigail Barker, a sophomore at Bo Manor, ran a 18.06 in the 100m hurdles and finished third.

Jaelyn Strand of Perryville placed 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a time of 53.41.

Bo Manor’s 4x200 of Erika Clarke, Colleen Nelson, Briana Poullard, and Paige Racine ran a time of 1:52.48, finishing second.

Bo Manor’s 4x400 of Erika Clarke, Colleen Nelson, Briana Poullard, and Paige Racine ran a time of 4:15.86, finishing first and breaking a school record.

Bo Manor’s 4x800 of Katherine Scott, Skylar Pizzulli, Colleen Nelson, and Paige Racine ran a time of 10:27.97, coming in first place.

Raegan Lenz came second in Discus, throwing 104’ 1.

In the pole vault, Sophomore Addison Bott of Bo Manor jumped 7’ 3. Perryville’s Colbie Rondone and Zoe Zimmerman each cleared 6’ 9, finishing fourth.

Junior Briana Poullard of Bo Manor jumped 15’ 5 in the long jump, earning third.

In the triple jump, Briana Poullard (33’6.5”) and Erika Clarke (31’5.75”) earned second and fifth, respectively.

* On June 6, 1884, philanthropist and businessman George Williams co-founded the Young Mens Christian Association, or YMCA, with the aim of creating a supportive community for men like himself to address societal challenges.

* On June 9, 1902, Woodrow Wilson was elected president of Princeton University, holding the office until resigning in 1910 to run for governor of New Jersey. Wilson had graduated from the university in 1879 before studying law at the University of Virginia, then earning a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He remains the sole U.S. president to have received a doctoral degree.

* On June 7, 1939, George VI and Elizabeth I became the first king and queen of Great Britain to travel to the United States, where they met with President Franklin D. Roosevelt at his invitation. In a letter to her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth described the Roosevelts as “such a charming and united family and living so like English people when they come to their country house.”

* On June 11, 1963, Alabama governor George Wallace stood in front of the Foster Auditorium at the University of Alabama and refused entry to two African American students, resulting in the issue of Executive Order 11111 by President John F. Kennedy. The order brought in the National Guard, forcing Wallace to step aside.

* On June 5, 1981, a weekly Morbidity and Mortality Report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted five cases of a rare form of pneumonia in Los Angeles. Later, they would be recognized as the first incidences of the AIDS virus.

* On June 10, 2003, the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan, opened Mrs. Fisher’s Southern Cooking restaurant in honor of Abby Fisher, who journeyed from enslaved plantation cook to upscale caterer and cookbook author after migrating west to California. “What Mrs. Fisher Knows About Old Southern Cooking, Soups, Pickles, Preserves, Etc.” is the oldest known cookbook by a formerly enslaved person.

* On June 9, 2020, Dr. Kathy Sullivan became the first woman to reach the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench (36,201 feet). Sullivan had earlier achieved notoriety by becoming the first American woman to complete a spacewalk, in 1984.
