Dear Invited Guest, It is our pleasure to offer you an opportunity to experience the historic H. Yturria Ranch in South Texas. The story of this treasure begins with Francisco Yturria, who became a successful banker and cotton broker in Brownsville, Texas. Working alongside folks like Richard King, Mifflin Kennedy and others, Francisco weathered wars, raids, assassination attempts, and other challenges as his business interests transitioned to ranching. By the turn of the century, Francisco controlled more than 100,000 acres of ranchland in lower South Texas. Those acres are the heart of H. Yturria Ranch holdings today.

During the state’s formative years in the mid- and late1800’s, Francisco’s alliance with key figures of Texas history helped forge the special character of South Texas. When he died in 1912, Francisco was an iconic figure. We are proud our family’s heritage is still allied through great friendships with those same families Francisco worked with more than 150 years ago.
Like family members before us, we hold deep cultural values that characterize our ranching heritage. We continue to graze our rangelands with cattle and have an active farming operation. We are excited about the rich and diverse natural resources found on the multiple divisions of H. Yturria Ranches in South Texas and far West Texas. Our wildlife resource base, made up of many native species and introduced species, now represents a keen focus of our diversified ranching enterprise. In recent years, we focused on habitat improvement and developing the necessary infrastructure for the pleasure of our ranch guests. With enthusiasm today, we look forward to sharing with you these special resources and the lasting experience gained from them. Welcome. Join us for a relaxing, exciting time steeped in South Texas history at the H. Yturria Ranch.
Sincerely, H. Yturria Ranch Family

TEXAS BLUE BULLS Nilgai antelope were released onto the neighboring Norias Division of the King Ranch in the 1930’s. To say they have flourished is an understatement; there are more than 3,000 nilgai on various portions of Yturria family country. Originally from India, nilgai are the second largest member of the antelope family, and mature bulls often weigh 600 pounds. They are extremely tough beasts and very difficult to bring down, even when hit in the vitals with a large caliber gun. Their wary nature makes

them extremely sporty to hunt, offering a challenging opportunity for a unique hunt.
Our nilgai hunts take place from our Punta del Monte Camp and our La Chata Camp. Both locations are comfortable, well-appointed camps. These hunts are packaged as 2.5-day, 3-night affairs with meals, lodging, and guiding based on either a 2x1 or 1x1 arrangement. Our staff will skin the carcass, quarter the meat, and fully cape the head, or we can take the carcass to be fully processed at a nearby meat processor at the client’s expense. Nilgai meat is excellent table fare, often compared to a range or grass fed beef. Most of our nilgai hunts are scheduled from late January through May with some hunting taking place in September and October. The Rio Grande Valley region of Texas is a warm, subtropical climate with mild winters. Due to the hardiness and strength of nilgai, we have a minimum Dark blue bull taken by Steve Baird.
caliber requirement of .300 magnum. Guides are required by the Ranch to carry a backup gun in case a follow-up shot is needed. No other nilgai hunt on the market offers a more complete quality hunt than what you find at H. Yturria. Large populations of nilgai, uniquely comfortable on-site camps, cultural cuisine, and friendly, capable guides make this one of the best values in North American big game hunting.

EXOTIC SAFARIS Owners of H. Yturria Ranches long dreamed of offering serious hunters an opportunity to enjoy a type of exotic big game safari rarely found on any other ranches in Texas. After years of developing breeding herds of various introduced ungulate species, with emphasis on African animals, the ranch has attained an abundance of exciting species which allows our hunters to see a plethora of game throughout their hunt at H. Yturria. Two distinct features set our exotic hunts apart from most others. First, we hunt well over 30,000 acres of Yturria properties. Additionally, all exotic game we offer for hunting are made up of naturally breeding herds of animals. These large herds combined with our comfortable, unique safari camps, our cultural culinary fare, and our capable guides provide an exotic hunting operation few can match.

Spring Turkey Our South Texas properties have large numbers of Rio Grande wild turkey. These hunts take place in late March and April and are set up as a 2.5-day, 3-night package with meals, lodging, guide, and one gobbler. A second gobbler may be taken for an additional fee.
