However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected.

BASIC SERVICES OF FUNERAL DIRECTOR, STAFF AND OPERATION COSTS .................................................... $990.00 Our fee for the services of funeral director and staff includes, but is not limited to, staff to respond to initial request for service; arrangement conference with family or responsible party; arrangement of service; preparation and filing of necessary authorizations and permits; recording vital statistics; preparation and placement of obituary notices, and coordination with those providing other portions of the service, such as cemetery and utility expenses, secretarial and administrative costs, equipment and inventory costs, and compliance with all local, state and federal regulations regarding the operation of a funeral home.

This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.)

Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. Shipment via common carrier (airplane or train) or entombment may also require embalming. Washington state law requires that the funeral home must either embalm or refrigerate immediately after removal of deceased from place of death and until final disposition: Sec. 17 Revised Code Washington 18.39.215 (2)(a) Any licensee authorized to dispose of human remains shall refrigerate or embalm the human remains upon receipt of the human remains.

This does NOT include cremation container/casket, urn, placing obituary notices, delivery of cremated remains, or coordination with cemetery. If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container.

Alternative containers encase the remains and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition material (with or without an outside covering). A complete list of the caskets and containers, we provide, will be available at the funeral home.)
