Yo, Philly, you really did beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in a thrilling Super Bowl that rewrote the offensive record book. Nick Foles guided the drive of a lifetime, Zach Ertz made a bobbling touchdown catch that had to survive replay review, and an exhausted defense came up with not one but two stands in the final moments Sunday for a 41-33 victory. The Roman government tried to intimidate him. False religion tried to silence him. The Devil tried to kill him. All failed. Even “death was no match for him” (Acts 2:24). He was not kidding when he declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18). Jesus is the command center of the galaxies. He occupies the Oval Office. He called a coin out the mouth of a fish. He stopped the waves with a word. He spoke and a tree withered. He spoke again, and a basket became a banquet. Economy. Meteorology. Botany. Food Supply. “All things have been handed over to me by my father” (Matthew 11:21) That includes Satan. The Devil was soundly defeated by Christ on the cross. Jesus outranks him in every situation. He must obey Jesus, and he knows it. Prayers offered in the name of Jesus have “devine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4). Demolish! Not damage or hamper but demolish. Satan setting up a stronghold in your life? Lift up a prayer and unleash the demolition power of Jesus.

NBA history 1. Earl Lloyd became the first African American in the National Basketball Association in 1950 breaking a gentlemen’s agreement of not drafting or playing Black players. These 17 owners excluded Black talent and the question remains what to do with the NBA records before 1950? Do they count? 2. In 1960 the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers had a seven foot center named Wilt Chamberlain. This future Hall of Fame star was on his way to a double-double season. He scored 100 points against my beloved New York Knicks in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The NBA put an end to this by expanding the lane from 12 feet to 16 feet so Chamberlain could not clog and dominate the middle of the floor. Remember the Minnesota Lakers also had a seven foot Hall of Fame star named George Mikan.

3. Ten years earlier the league expanded the lane from six feet to twelve feet. Mikan did not score the amount of points that Chamberlain did, but the wheels were set into motion to stop the scoring giant. 4. There was an unwritten agreement from 1930-1975 that no more than three African Americans were to be on the floor at the same time. The Boston Celtics carried out this invisible law until 1976. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, and Denver Nuggets still try to promote white players from Eastern Europe. There are not many American white players starting in the National Basketball League today. 5. In 1967 a young man from New York City was jamming the basketball on other players’ heads for three New York City High school championships. He also took three NCAA Championships at UCLA The University of California at Los Angeles, on his way into the NBA record books, seven foot, Lew Alcindor-Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Jabbar made the NCAA enforce the no dunking rule called the Alcindor Rule in 1967, the NBA followed suit a year later. Kareem answered that rule with the beautiful Sky Hook shot. 6. The league responded with another change. The lane was clogged with seven footers. In 1980 the NBA instituted the three point play, opening up the floor. This is when a player can shoot 22 feet from the basket and it counts as three points instead of two. Teams like the Boston Celtics already had pure shooters that could hit these shots. This rule kept Caucasian, Eastern European players in the game of basketball. This was a reaction to Black players flooding the league. In 19761979 New York City fans were calling the Knicks the N****Rbockers because the whole team happened to be BLACK and the team was losing. 7. In the 2014-2015 the game changed again and now pure shooters Black and white are cherished. The 2013-2016 Golden State Warriors with their Splash Brothers-Curry and Thompson broke all NBA 3-point records. Black players adopted the new style and are now thriving in the NBA. The lane has opened and players can now drive to the basket.

2018 TBSHOF Inducts Merton Hanks - Coach Allen Wilson

Merton Hanks

Coach Allen Wilson

Merton Edward Hanks (born March 12, 1968) is a former American football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons during the 1990s. He is currently the NFL Vice President of Operations.

Allen Wilson (born 1951/1952)[1] is a former American football coach. A highly successful high school coach, Wilson won two Texas state championships (1988, 1994) and amassed a 213-74-3 record. His teams are known for their smash-mouth running game.

College career Hanks attended Lake Highlands High School, where he was a district track and field champion. He went on to the University of Iowa, earning all-Big Ten honors at cornerback. However, at the NFL scouting combine, his 40-yard dashes were extremely slow, and he was not drafted until the fifth round by the San Francisco 49ers. Professional career Despite his low selection, Hanks was selected for four Pro Bowl and three All-Pro teams. He was well known for his interceptions and returns, as well as his unique “pigeon dance” celebrations which were later emulated by basketball star Shaquille O’Neal. He was a member of the 1994 San Francisco team that won Super Bowl XXIX. Hanks finished his career with the Seattle Seahawks, retiring in 1999. Executive career Hanks was previously the assistant director of operations for the National Football League, and he currently is the NFL Vice President of Operations in charge of player conduct. He regularly goes on speaking tours.

Feb 06-Feb 12, 2018

Wilson is a 1970 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. He went on to play defensive back under coach Wally Bullington at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, where he was part of the 1973 football team which won the NAIA National Football Championship and Lone Star Conference title. After serving as a graduate assistant at Abilene Christian, Wilson became head coach at Paris High School in Paris, Texas. He guided them to the 4A state championship in 1988, with a 31-13 win over West Orange-Stark. Two years later, Wilson went on to coach at 5A John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. Wilson brought a new attitude to the J.T. Lions, and popularized “Cujo”, John Tyler’s playoff persona. Under Wilson, JT began wearing jersey’s with “Cujo” inscribed on the front in the playoffs only. Prior to Wilson’s arrival, the term “Cujo” was reserved for the defense under former coach Carlous Stone. Wilson revived a storied program that won two state championships (1930, 1973), but went a mediocre 22-27-2 over the previous five years. In 1994, John Tyler High went 16-0 and won the 5A Division II state championship with a 35-24 win over Austin Westlake. That season included a legendary regional semifinal game against Plano East Senior High School which is considered to be the best high school football game in history.[2][3][4] In 2000, the Lions made another finals appearance but lost 35-20 to Katy. In 2002, Wilson took over as head coach of the tradition-rich Dallas Carter Cowboys football program. In 2003, Dallas Carter lost in the Regionals to the Leander Lions. In 2006, Wilson’s Carter team eliminated his old school, John Tyler, from the playoffs in only the Lions’ second game wearing “Cujo” jerseys since the 2000 season.

Meet the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class

I

t will be one of the youngest groups in the history of the Pro Football Hall of Fame as Ray Lewis, Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher were all selected Saturday for enshrinement in the class of 2018.

NFL.COM “Even in that small group who have the honor of being a Hall of Famer, Ray stands out. When you talk about the great players of all time, no matter position, he is among the greatest of the great.”

Dawkins played 13 of his 16 NFL season for the Eagles, who will face the New England Patriots in Sunday’s Super Bowl. A nine-time Pro Bowl selection, he was a rare player to have finished a career with at least 35 interceptions and 20 sacks.

All three players were in their first year of eligibility and join Terrell Owens and Brian Dawkins as the modern-era selections to be enshrined. Those five players join longtime personnel executive Bobby Beathard (contributor) and seniors committee nominees Jerry Kramer and Robert Brazile for enshrinement. The Hall of Fame’s board of selectors met Saturday, the day before Super Bowl LII, to select the class. The 15 modern-era finalists were trimmed to 10 and then to five. Those five finalists were then voted on with a yes or no for enshrinement. The contributor and two seniors nominees were voted on separately with a yes or no. The Hall of Fame’s enshrinement ceremony will be Aug. 4 in Canton, Ohio. It was a day for the 1990s and 2000s NFL as Owens was the modern-era selection who had waited the longest, and he was in just his third year of

Owens, who is the only player to score a touchdown versus each of the current 32 teams, acknowledged his selection Saturday in an Instagram post featuring a Hall of Fame hat.

“This is tremendous news, and I could not be more proud of Brian. Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is an honor he truly earned,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “He epitomized everything we love about the game of football. His intensity, his passion, his love of the game and his leadership were always dialed in at the highest possible level. Moss, who played for five teams in his career, is second all time in touchdown receptions with 156 and had eight 1,200-yard seasons in his career. He played seven full seasons and part of another in Minnesota, site of Sunday’s Super Bowl. “The door knocked and I started getting excited,” Moss said of Hall of Fame president David Baker alerting him he has been elected. “All the emotions caught the best of me because it’s been a long journey, and it ends in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Tears of joy.”

“He connected in every possible way with the city of Philadelphia and our legion of Eagles fans across the country.” But no former player waited longer for enshrinement than Kramer, who played his last season with the Green Bay Packers in 1968. He was the only guard selected to the NFL’s 50th anniversary team

In the days leading up to Saturday’s selection meeting, some wondered if Urlacher would be chosen in the same class as Lewis, as two high-profile players at the same position in largely the same era. The athleticism and production of the former Chicago Bears middle linebacker tipped the scales. Urlacher was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. eligibility. Dawkins was in his second year of eligibility. Lewis was the most decorated of the group as a 13-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and a Super Bowl MVP in his career as a Baltimore Ravens linebacker. “I’ve been going a long time. And now I can finally rest,” Lewis said. “I want to go fishing with a cigar now and just sit back. I don’t want to work out every day now. “Growing up as a child, I know what [a Hall of Fame middle linebacker] looked like -- Mike Singletary, Dick Butkus. Who dreams of being in that category, sitting with those guys?” Lewis started 227 games in his career and was credited with eight 100-tackle seasons. “For 17 years, we could point to No. 52 and tell the other players: ‘Follow his lead. Practice like Ray practices. Prepare like Ray prepares. Be a great teammate like him,’” Ravens general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said in a release from the team. “It was our privilege to have him as a Raven. We are all better for having him here. His play on gamedays speaks for itself.

6

Owens, a finalist for the past three years, had been a hot-button candidate with his own public criticisms of the board of selectors after he had not been chosen for the Hall in 2016 or ‘17. A third-round draft selection of the San Francisco 49ers in 1996, Owens ranks eighth all time in receptions (1,078), second in receiving yards (15,935) and third in receiving touchdowns (153). He played for the 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals in a career that spanned 15 years. “Terrell Owens gave our organization eight great seasons of service and some terrific memories that will live on in 49ers lore,” CEO Jed York said in a statement congratulating the six-time Pro Bowler. “He is one of the most accomplished wide receivers in the history of the NFL, and very deserving of this selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

and was a lead blocker for one of the league’s iconic plays in the Packers’ sweep. Kramer also cleared the way for Hall of Famer Bart Starr to score the winning touchdown in the Ice Bowl, the Packers’ 21-17 win over the Cowboys in the 1967 NFL Championship Game. “In the old days when the quarterbacks called their own plays, since most of them were right-handed, they called most of the plays to the right. So the defense would put their best men on that half of the field. Therefore, Jerry Kramer, as a right guard, played against the best defensive tackle every week. He still made AllPro five times,” said former Packers linebacker and 2013 Hall of Fame inductee Dave Robinson. Brazile was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection as well as a four-time firstteam All-Pro. The player known as “Dr. Doom’’

The trade deadling is coming and where do the Mavericks stand

he Dallas Mavericks are just barely above the cellar of the Western Conference. The team sits at 17-36 on the season, good for 14th in the conference and only a half game above the last-place Sacramento Kings. Things aren’t much better when you look at the Mavs in relation to the rest of the league, as the team is one game above the last-place Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic.

That last thing is important, and is a common thread that has seemed to pop up during this

••• Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a left tibia fracture, league sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Dallas is the kind of team that can afford to blow it all up as they try to position themselves for a high pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, assuming the organization believes a playoff run is off the table. It has a defined core, but outside of that, it has a bunch of players who Eddie Sefko of SportsDay writes are available. According to Sefko, Dallas has three players who are completely off the table. One is their leading scorer, one is their point guard who is the future of the organization, and one is the team legend who is going to retire a Maverick. Other than that, Dallas is willing to move anyone. It comes down to price points. The Mavericks would part with any number of players not named Dennis Smith Jr., Dirk Nowitzki or Harrison Barnes if the return was good enough. A first-round pick or even a high second-rounder would be enticing. But the landscape of the league is such that those assets aren’t being tossed around frivolously.

All may be quiet on the Mavs’ front now, but they still have a few days to figure out if they would want to make a move before Thursday at 3 p.m.

Curry, who has been sidelined with the injury since the preseason, will need a three-month recovery period. He’s expected to be fully cleared and on the court before the start of July free agency. He had a similar surgery on his right tibia during his senior season at Duke.

trade season: There are more teams looking to sell than there are looking to buy. So for a team like Dallas that would want to get assets back for players who aren’t part of the organization’s longterm future, it makes finding the right move difficult. Regardless, this report makes it sound like Dallas is one of the teams that could be active during the period before the trade deadline. Of course, teams have to be interested in negotiating with them, which Sefko says might be an issue.

Curry was diagnosed with a stress reaction of his tibia in October. He had been projected to start alongside rookie guard Dennis Smith Jr. in Dallas’ backcourt. The 27-year-old Curry is the younger brother of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and son of former NBA guard Dell Curry. In his best NBA season, Curry averaged 12.8 points and shot 48.1 percent from the floor and 42.5 percent from 3-point range in 70 games in 2016-17.

Ranking the Super Bowls 51 - 1

hat makes a great Super Bowl? Obviously a dramatic ending helps, but that doesn’t alway mean a great game. On football’s biggest stage we want games featuring memorable teams, star players, plays that we’ll never forget and compelling storylines. With that criteria in mind, we’ve ranked every Super Bowl ever played from worst to first. Keep in mind blowouts does not mean a great Super Bowl.

47. Super Bowl II: Packers 33, Raiders 14 The game was expected to be a blowout — Green Bay was favored by 13.5 points — and it was. Bart Starr won MVP with only 13 completions. 46. Super Bowl XLVIII: Seahawks 43, Broncos 8

This game did feature one of the best defenses in NFL history, but watching it dismantle a Kerry Collins-led offense wasn’t all that exciting. Throw in Trent Dilfer leading the other offense and a game that was never competitive, and this is easily the worst Super Bowl of all-time.

40. Super Bowl XXII: Redskins 42, Broncos 10 Another Broncos blowout. This one was actually pretty entertaining for the first 30 minutes. Denver got out to a 10-0 lead before Washington dropped a Super Bowl-record 35 points in the second quarter on the Broncos defense.

50. Super Bowl VIII: Dolphins 24, Vikings 7

49. Super Bowl IV: Chiefs 23, Vikings 7 This game might’ve been higher on the list if the Jets hadn’t pulled off the AFL-NFL upset the prior season. The most interesting thing about this Super Bowl remains Hank Stram’s mic’d up footage. 48. Super Bowl VI: Cowboys 24, Dolphins 3 The Cowboys’ first Super Bowl win was a snooze-fest. Miami’s three points is still the fewest points scored in a Super Bowl. The player might not think it was a boring game, they had never won the big one.

41. Super Bowl XXI: Giants 39, Broncos 20 The least memorable of the Giants’ four Super Bowl wins also happened to be their most dominant. Phil Simms set the record for completion percentage after finishing 22-of-25 in an MVP effort.

51. Super Bowl XXXV: Ravens 34, Giants 7

The Dolphins won their second consecutive Super Bowl in a game that was over well before the fourth quarter. A fullback — even if it was Hall of Famer Larry Csonka — winning MVP tells you just how entertaining this one was.

taking attention away from the game, the Raiders and Eagles made sure Americans too concerned to tune into a football game didn’t miss much. Philly was actually favored before the game, but Oakland made the betting line look silly early on, getting out to a 21-3 lead.

39. Super Bowl XXVII: Cowboys 52, Bills 17 This should have been a great game. Denver came in with a historically good offense. Seattle came in with the league’s best defense. It was never even close as the Seahawks dominated from the opening snap. Kam Chancellor should have been MVP. 45. Super Bowl XXXVII: Buccaneers 48, Raiders 21 Two good-but-not-great teams playing an uncompetitive game with an unforgettable MVP? Yeah, this one wasn’t compelling for neutral viewers. 44. Super Bowl I: Packers 35, Chiefs 10 One of the bigger mismatches in Super Bowl history, this one gets bonus points for being the first one and the Chiefs actually keeping things interesting for 30 minutes after going into the half trailing by only four points. 43. Super Bowl XII: Cowboys 27, Broncos 10

The Doomsday Defense vs. the Orange Crush ended up being a forgettable, one-sided affair. The Broncos could muster only 35 net passing yards. Dallas got out to an early 10-point lead and never looked back.

This was the first of the Cowboys’ three Super Bowl wins in the 90s. The game was a blowout but did give us one of the most iconic moments in Super Bowl history: Don Beebe chasing down a prematurely celebrating Leon Lett. 38. Super Bowl XXXVIII: Cowboys 30, Bills 13 Both Cowboys-Bills Super Bowl were blowouts, but this one was at least competitive into the third quarter. Buffalo actually led going into halftime before being outscored 21-0 in the second half. 37. Super Bowl 50: Broncos 24, Panthers 10

42. Super Bowl XV: Raiders 27, Eagles 10

This is the first game on this list that was actually competitive going into the fourth quarter, but it was a sloppy affair featuring seven fumbles and a pair of interceptions. Peyton Manning winning his second ring bumps this one up a few spots.

The one Peyton let get away. This game will be remembered for two plays: The surprise onside kick to start the second half and Tracy Porter’s game-sealing pick-6 of Manning. Despite the memorable moments, this game was a bit of a letdown with two Hall of Fame quarterbacks not putting on the offensive show we expected.

We can’t put a Super Bowl featuring Rex Grossman too high on the list, but Peyton Manning winning his first ring salvages this one. It was all downhill for Chicago after Devin Hester returned the opening kick for a touchdown. 25. Super Bowl XXXI: Packers 35, Patriots 21 This Super Bowl gave us a bunch of memorable performances. Brett Favre was brilliant in his only Super Bowl win. Reggie White was downright unblockable. And yet it was Desmond Howard who took home the MVP award thanks to his game-clinching kickoff return. 24. Super Bowl XL: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10

35. Super Bowl XI: Raiders 32, Vikings 14 The universe wont let the Vikings back in the Super Bowl because all of the ones they made in the ‘70s ended up being unwatchable. Including the next one… 34. Super Bowl IX: Steelers 16, Vikings 6 Seriously, the Vikings are never allowed to make another Super Bowl. This was actually the closest one they played. 33. Super Bowl XXIX: 49ers 49, Chargers 26 Sure the game was over by the end of the second quarter, but watching Steve Young (six touchdown passes) and Jerry Rice (three touchdown receptions) tear up the Chargers was a joy to watch.

It was a sloppy game that was marred by questionable refereeing, but Bill Cowher and Jerome Bettis finally winning a Lombardi Trophy thanks to Willie Parker’s record-setting touchdown run and Hines Ward throwing for a score made this a memorable Super Bowl. 23. Super Bowl XXX: Cowboys 27, Steelers 17 This would have been yet another classic Steelers-Cowboys Super Bowl if Neil O’Donnell didn’t throw the game away. O’Donnell set Larry Brown’s family up for life with his dreadful performance. 22. Super Bowl XVII: Redskins 27, Dolphins 17

16. Super Bowl XVI: 49ers 26, Bengals 21 Joe Montana’s first Super Bowl win was nearly squandered after the 49ers let the Bengals nearly erase a 20-point deficit. Cincinnati’s late onside kick attempt failed and deprived us of what could have been a classic ending. 15. Super Bowl III: Jets 16, Colts 7

This game gave us one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history: John Riggins taking a 4th-and-one run to the house to help seal Joe Gibbs’ first Super Bowl win.

You may have been expecting one of the more famous Super Bowl results to land a little higher on the list. Sure, it was a massive upset and Joe Namath’s guarantee adds to the lore, but the game itself was a bore. I did not mean to rhyme there.

21. Super Bowl XXIX: Patriots 24, Eagles 21

14. Super Bowl XLVI: Giants 21, Patriots 17

Same goes for this one. The Bears’ defensive dominance made a 36-point laugher worth watching.

Brady and Belichick established the Patriots as a dynasty with their third Lombardi in four years. Andy Reid’s never-ending two-minute drill robbed us of what could have been an exciting ending.

Eli Manning did it to the Patriots again. This time, he didn’t need a miracle catch to beat New England thanks to his sublime pass to Mario Manningham on the game-winning drive.

30. Super Bowl XVIII: Raiders 38, Redskins 9

20. Super Bowl V: Colts 16, Cowboys 13

13. Super Bowl X: Steelers 21, Cowboys

We’re on a run of blowouts now. The game itself may not be memorable but Marcus Allen’s 191-yard performance, which included the greatest run in Super Bowl history, pushes it into the top-30.

If not for the dramatic ending, this game may have finished last on this list. It was easily the sloppiest Super Bowl of all-time. The teams combined for 11 turnovers. ELEVEN! Just how goofy was this game? It’s the only Super Bowl where a member of the losing team won MVP.

The first of the Steelers-Cowboys Super Bowls gave us those beautiful NFL Films shots of Lynn Swann’s acrobatic catch. That alone earned the game a spot this high on the list.

32. Super Bowl XXIV: 49ers 55, Broncos 10 OK, so this game was never in doubt, this was Bill Walsh’s 49ers dynasty at its apex. That’s NFL history. 31. Super Bowl XX: Bears 46, Patriots 10

29. Super Bowl VII: Dolphins 14, Redskins 7 The game may have been bad, but this is NFL history. The Dolphins capped off the only perfect season ever, despite Garo Yepremian give us an all-time blooper. 28. Super Bowl XXXIII: Broncos 34, Falcons 19 The Dirty Bird Falcons weren’t a match for the best team John Elway played on. The game lacked memorable moments but is significant because it was Elway’s last. 27. Super Bowl XXVI: Redskins 37, Bills 24 The 1991 Redskins might be the greatest team in NFL history, which bumps this game up a few spots. The game wasn’t nearly as close as the score indicates,

10

19. Super Bowl XIV: Steelers 31, Rams 19

12. Super Bowl XLVII: Ravens 34, 49ers 31

The 1970s Steelers gave us one last entertaining Super Bowl before its dynasty ended. Los Angeles was a heavy underdog but actually took a lead into the fourth quarter. Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris took over the game from there.

The game that confirmed Joe Flacco was elite. Kind of. It did earn him a bunch of money. It also gave us the first and only Super Bowl blackout. After power was restored, the 49ers turned what looked to be another big game blowout into a nail-biter that Baltimore won thanks to a goal line stand — and some questionable San Francisco play-calling.

18. Super Bowl XLV: Packers 31, Steelers 25

11. Super Bowl XXXII: Broncos 31, Packers 24

Aaron Rodgers capped off a brilliant playoff run with a masterful performance against one of the league’s best defenses. Green Bay looked as if it would blow the Steelers out but Ben Roethlisberger led a rally that cut the lead from 18 to three before Mason Crosby put the game away with a field goal.

John Elway finally won his ring in a well-played game that featured one of the best performances by a running back in Super Bowl history. Terrell Davis’

In Retirement By: CALVIN JOHNSON

right. Not gonna work. But I tried anyway. So, imagine me — 6’ 5”, 230 pounds — lying face down on a tiny surfboard, taking up the whole damn thing, then trying to stand up and catch a wave.

People see me in their airport and automatically assume I’m in town to meet with their team — to come out of retirement. But I’m not. I’m just … there — on a layover, taking a vacation with my wife, or en route to explore a new hobby. I’ve picked up a few over the last couple of years — you know, things I either wasn’t allowed to do while I was playing or just didn’t have time for. I’ve spent the last two years really getting to know myself and learning how I want to enjoy my free time. I’ve been doing some fishing, playing a little golf — and surprisingly to most people, skiing. For some reason, I always wanted to try skiing. Growing up in Georgia, cold-weather activities were a novel concept to me. So last winter, some of the fellas and I took a weekend trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, to run the slopes. We had a blast. It was … well, it wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard, either. I got the hang of it pretty quick, and now I’m hooked. Now, surfing? That’s an entirely different story. I had been stand-up paddleboarding before, so while on the beach in Mexico last year, I figured I’d pick up a surfboard and give that a try. But first, I had to get over my fear of sharks. Shark Week was always on during training camp, and it was all I watched. So let’s just say I wasn’t really feeling being too deep in their territory. But I sucked it up and hopped on a board. It was a lot harder than the paddleboarding I’d done on Lake Lanier in Georgia. I actually think my surfboard may have been too short — for real. Not to make excuses, but I’m 6’ 5’’, and the board I rented was damn near my height, and it was the longest they had. I was pretty sure the surfboard was supposed to be taller than the person riding it, so my initial thought was, This can’t be

Feb 06-Feb 12, 2018

One of these days — maybe when I get the right board — I’ll perfect it. Of all the things I’ve done since I retired, the best was getting married. To tell you the truth, I really didn’t want to be married while I was playing. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with being married while working. It’s just that the game takes so much of you. It requires so much time and attention. And physically, it takes so much of your body. So when you’re playing the game as a professional and wanting to reach the highest level of achievement, you have to be selfish. When you’re not working on your game or getting treatments on your body, you gotta spend as much time as you can hitting the recovery button or laying around and staying off your feet. The way I worked out and trained and prepared — I didn’t think I could have achieved my best athletically and been the best husband at the same time. Don’t get me wrong, it can be done. I know plenty of guys who have done it, and still do. I admire them, and I honestly don’t know how they do it, managing the demands of the game and staying on top of everything at home. I mean, if my wife, Brittney, would have come along earlier, I would have probably just sucked it up and gotten married. I wouldn’t have passed on her for anything, you know? I would have made it work. But thankfully, the timing worked out perfectly for us. I’m happy it happened the way it did, with us getting married right after I retired. It was the perfect transition for us to begin our life together. I was truly able to put my wife and my son, Caleb, first and not have to worry about being in pain from an injury or needing to balance my time with them vs. my job. Aside from having more time to play with Caleb and taking trips with Brittney, the one thing pretty much everybody knows I did after retiring was Dancing With the Stars, and it was actually Brittney who kind of talked me into doing it. After we got married, the main thing on my mind was going back to school. So when Dancing With the Stars called, I declined. I

www.411sportsnews.com

So a few weeks passed, and DWTS called a second time. I told Brittney they had called again, and she said,”Just do it. Why not? You only live once.” Actually, that’s not what she said…. She said, “YOLO.” I thought that was funny. Like, who actually says YOLO, right? My wife, that’s who. She told me, as she has many times before, “More times than not, it’s the things we don’t do in life that we regret most.” She had a point. So what if I was uncertain about my dancing skills? So what if I wasn’t one for being on television (oddly enough)? I had nothing to lose. So I called Dancing With the Stars back and told them, “Hey, I don’t dance, but I’m gonna give it a try.” And let me tell you: It was way different than I anticipated. I remember my first dance practice. My dance partner, Lindsay, started teaching me some steps, and I felt like I was catching on pretty quick. I was like, Man, I can do all these steps. I think I’m gonna be O.K. But I didn’t realize that she was teaching me the most basic steps possible. There were going to be tosses, spins, lifts and solo routines. Those moves were intimidating. I was used to performing on a certain level and didn’t want to make a fool of myself because, like I said … I don’t dance. So I tapped into my football mentality. I put everything I had into my preparation. I practiced. I watched film. I went all in. And I needed to, because we were on a deadline to learn our routines, and it was all so different than anything I had ever done.

still get it all the time, but mostly when I go to the airport. Not so much in Detroit, but in cities like Atlanta or Miami — any city with an NFL team. I’ll be walking through the concourse, minding my business, and people will say, “What’s up, Megatron! You making a comeback?”

I say trying because I was hardly able to stand up on the board — and definitely not able to stay up. I came close a couple of times, but every time I got my feet set and tried to push myself up, I went down, man.

had never done ballroom dancing before. I mean, I may have done the hustle or something at a party, but outside of that, dancing wasn’t really my thing.

(She) said, ‘Look, you gotta grab my butt, because if you don’t do it now, then you’re not gonna do it when we’re on stage.’ I was completely out of my element. Dancing is very physical — and not in the way that football is physical. Dancing is like … uncomfortably physical. Especially if you’re not familiar with the culture, like I wasn’t.

Super Bowl 2018: Eagles shock Patriots, 41-33, win first Lombardi Trophy for Philadelphia

A

s their delirious fans sang their theme song and their owner lifted the Lombardi Trophy, the Philadelphia Eagles’ finally could breathe freely.

Cover Story

Yo, Philly, you really did beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in a thrilling Super Bowl that rewrote the offensive record book. Nick Foles guided the drive of a lifetime, Zach Ertz made a bobbling touchdown catch that had to survive replay review, and an exhausted defense came up with not one but two stands in the final moments Sunday for a 41-33 victory. For the first time since 1960, the Eagles are NFL champions. Nick Foles, the second-string quarterback who rescued the Philadelphia Eagles’ season when starting quarterback Carson Wentz blew out his knee in Week 13, outplayed the greatest Super Bowl quarterback of all-time as the Eagles beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday night. “Fly Eagles Fly,” indeed. “We’ve played this game since we were little kids, we dreamed about this moment,” game MVP Foles said. “There’s plenty of kids watching this game right now dreaming about this moment and someday will be here.” In a record-setting shootout between backup QB Foles and five-time champ Brady of the favored Patriots, Foles led a pressure-packed 75-yard drive to the winning touchdown, 11 yards to Ertz with 2:21 to go .

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “That’s what it means to Eagles fans everywhere. And for Eagles fans everywhere, this is for them.” Super Bowl MVP Foles orchestrated the victory with the kind of drive NFL MVP Brady, a five-time champion, is known for. The drive covered 14 plays, including a fourth-down conversion. “I felt calm. I mean, we have such a great group of guys, such a great coaching staff,” Foles said. “We felt confident coming in, and we just went out there and played football.”

The Eagles had to survive a video replay because ball pop into the air as Ertz crossed the goal line. “If they would have overturned that, I don’t know what would have happened to the city of Philadelphia,” Ertz said. “But I’m so glad they didn’t overturn it.” The touchdown stood -- and so did thousands of green-clad Eagles fans who weren’t going to mind the frigid conditions outside US Bank Stadium once they headed out to celebrate. But not before a rousing rendition of “Fly Eagles Fly” reverberated

Then Brandon Graham strip-sacked Brady and Derek Barnett recovered, setting up rookie Jake Elliot’s 46-yard field goal for an 8-point lead. Brady got his team to midfield, but his desperation pass fell to the ground in the end zone. “For us, it was all about one stop we had to make. We went out here and made that one stop,” Graham said. The underdog Eagles (16-3), even injured starting quarterback Carson Wentz, came bolting off the sideline in ecstasy while Brady sat on the ground, disconsolate. It was the first Super Bowl title for Philadelphia (16-3), which went from 7-9 last season. “If there’s a word (it’s) called everything,”

throughout the stands once the trophy was presented to Lurie. Later, fans danced along with the “Gonna Fly Now,” the theme from “Rocky,” the city’s best-known fictional underdog.

The Eagles and Patriots broke a 30-year-old record in Super Bowl LII.

The Patriots (15-4) seemed ready to take their sixth championship with Brady and coach Bill Belichick in eight Super Bowls. Brady threw for a game-record 505 yards and three TDs, hitting Rob Gronkowski for 4 yards before Stephen Gostkowski’s extra point gave New England its first lead, 33-32.

Brady and the Patriots looked ready for another comeback by opening the second half with a 75-yard touchdown drive. Gronkowski was unstoppable, grabbing four passes for 69 yards, including the 5-yard score.

Then Foles made them forget Wentz -- and least for now -- with the gutsiest drive of his life.

Foles has been something of a journeyman in his six pro seasons, but he has been spectacular in four career playoff games. He finished 28 of 43 for 373 yards and three TDs.

Philly didn’t flinch, answering with a precise 75-yard march and three more third-down conversions; the Eagles were 10 for 16. The last was on Foles’ perfect pass to Clement over double coverage. The rookie’s reception was upheld by review, and the Eagles were back on top by 10. Brady shrugged and, getting steadfast protection, connected with Chris Hogan from

The New England Patriots had the ball and plenty of time, but then one swipe of a hand changed everything.

“I mean it’s 15 minutes after the game ended, so I’d like to process this a little bit,” Brady said. “I wouldn’t see why I wouldn’t be back.” Gronkowski, who has played eight superb but injury-riddled years, said “I am definitely going to look at my future.” It was such a wild game that Foles caught a touchdown pass , and Brady was on the opposite end of a Danny Amendola throw that went off his fingertips. Eagles coach Doug Pederson brought home the championship in his second year in charge. Belichick is 5-3 in Super Bowls and his teams have only a plus-4 overall margin in those games.

Feb 06-Feb 12, 2018

James White broke several tackles with a brilliant 26-yard run and it was 15-12. That gave White seven touchdowns in his past three postseason games, including the overtime winner in last year’s Super Bowl. But the Eagles still had 2:04 left in the half -- and some more magic in their bag.

A short third-down throw to rookie Corey Clement on a circle route turned into a 55-yard explosion down to the Patriots 8. Philly got to the 1 and on fourth down, it was Foles’ turn to morph into a receiver.

He did better than Brady. On fourth down, Clement took a direct snap, pitched to tight end Trey Burton, and the former Florida QB hit an uncovered Foles. The Eagles were up 22-12 at halftime, the most points New England has allowed in the opening half of a Super Bowl under Belichick.

The combined 1,151 yards were the most in any modern NFL game, and Brady’s 505 were the most in any playoff contest. The 40-yearold master finished 28 of 48 and picked apart the Eagles until the final two series. Brady indicated he will return for a 19th season even as Gronkowski was hedging on his future.

Brady got back to passing after a wild interception. Alshon Jeffery nearly made a spectacular catch near the Patriots’ goal line, only to juggle the ball into the air. Duron Harmon picked it off at the 10. Moments later, Brady was connecting with Chris Hogan for 42 yards.

the 26 for another touchdown. When all the Eagles could manage was Elliott’s 42-yarder for a 32-26 lead, it seemed inevitable the Patriots would go in front, then become the first repeat Super Bowl winner since they did it in the 2004 and ‘05 games. Foles, Ertz, and -- at last -- a revitalized defense said otherwise. The weird image of Brady ambling downfield on a pass pattern came three plays after New England lost receiver Brandin Cooks to a concussion on a vicious but clean hit by Malcolm Jenkins in the second quarter. Amendola’s pass required an over-theshoulder grab and the ball fell off Brady’s outstretched hands. The Super Bowl is not only for the game, it’s

Several Eagles players plan on skipping the traditional White House celebration after winning Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots on Sunday night. Each team started with 67-yard drives to field goals -- New England had never scored a first-quarter point with Brady in a Super Bowl.

Each kicker later faltered, with Elliott missing the extra point, his fifth failed PAT this season, after Jeffery’s 34-yard touchdown. Then Gostkowski hit the left upright with a 26-yard field goal after holder Ryan Allen mishandled the snap. Gostkowski also missed an extra point. When LeGarrette Blount, who won the title last season with the Patriots, scored on a 21-yard burst, Pederson went for 2, but the pass failed, making it 15-3. The Eagles and Pederson brushed it off and stayed with their usual aggressive approach. Breathtakingly, it eventually paid off.

TIDBITS

Ranking the top 10 Movies from Regina King

By Cedric E. Lyons

So here is the list, hope you enjoy: 1. Ray - Margie Hendricks

Ray is a biographical film focusing on 30 years in the life of rhythm and blues musician Ray Charles. The independently produced film was written, produced and directed by Taylor Hackford, and stars Jamie Foxx in the title role. Foxx received an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as well as the Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild and Critics’ Choice awards, becoming the second actor to win all five lead actor awards for the same performance. 2. Enemy of the State - Wife of Will Smith

Regina’s first role, at 13, was on the 1980s family sitcom 227. She played Brenda, Marla Gibbs’ good-natured daughter. “I was probably taking notes in my mind back then that were preparing me be to a director now.” says King. “Marla Gibbs was an amazing mentor-slash-other mommy, as I call her and she calls herself. She was teaching me the importance of hitting my mark and how to deliver my lines openly to the audience without looking like I’m on stage delivering lines.” After 227 ended, King took a 180 from the Brenda character to play what she describes as a more “ghetto” role, in the gritty 1991 drama Boyz N the Hood. In another movie by John Singleton, Poetic Justice, King played Janet Jackson’s sassy homegirl. The movie roles kept coming. You may remember her as Cuba Gooding’s savvy wife, negotiating his contract in the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire. That same year, King had a son, who she’s raised for the most part as a single mom. As she’s matured, so have her roles. For example: Margie Hendrix, the talented singer-done-wrong in the 2004 movie Ray. King continues to reign on television — from cartoon voices on Boondocks to starring roles on Southland, The Leftovers, Shameless and American Crime. “If you want to look for the com-

mon denominator in the roles that I’ve played,” King muses, “maybe a very large part of them are women that just are huge energies. They’re just kind of force-of-nature type of women.”

Enemy of the State is a 1998 American spy-thriller about a group of rogue U.S. National Security Agency agents conspiring to kill a U.S. Congressman and try to cover up the murder. It was written by David Marconi, directed by Tony Scott, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It stars Will Smith and Gene Hackman, with Jon Voight, Lisa Bonet, and Regina King in supporting roles. 3. Jerry Maguire - Mercee Tidwell

Between acting and directing, the very busy Regina King runs a production company with her sister Reina. They’ve been professional actors since they were kids, born and raised in Los Angeles. This list of the best Regina King movies, ranked best to worst with movie trailers when available. Regina King’s highest grossing movies have received a lot of accolades over the years, earning millions upon millions around the world. The order of these top Regina King movies is decided by how many votes they receive, so only highly rated Regina King movies will be at the top of the list. Regina King has been in a lot of films, so people often debate each other over what the greatest Regina King movie of all time is. If you and a friend are arguing about this then use this list of the most entertaining Regina King films to end the squabble once and for all. I went to Ranker.com to get the list and made my own changes based on the role she played and how prominate were her roles. So while I love the Movie Boyz n The Hood, because she only had a bit part it did not make the list.

HE SAID; SHE SAID Gabrielle-Esther Unique Love: @Robbie Nelson Oh Wow,I Humbly appreciate this from you,Thank you for your Encouragement too Don Nash: I think when you utter the words “I am no longer sexually attracted to you,” you have used lethal words that can kill the security and confidence within a relationship. If you still love them, then that love should impact the way you approach this very common issue. Honesty about what you need sexually is a MUST! Give your mate the opportunity to help save the marriage!!! More couples experience the dwindling sexual flame over time than those that keep it burning. He/She just might need to be reminded that they your survival in the relationship is inextricably tied to sexual attraction to the one you come home to everyday. Chaz Jones: Agreed...words have power to build or destroy and this is common James Richardson: That’s why i asked the question on my show!! Is it possible to stay in love? If you are in love with someone, the intimacy iz always easy You can love someone and not wanna get close to them. Thats why it is important to come up with different ways to show that you care and that the person is all you ever wanted and needed!--

Don Nash: It’s possible to love someone and not be sexually attracted to them. Intimacy is expressed in so many ways. But in a marriage.... I think you would do well to have mutual sexual attraction. Unless you mutually agree to be in love and marriage without sexual attraction. Marie Kheira Menton Bentoumi: Well...its like when you love french fries...they taste good when hot, warm, crunchy, spicy too...but once they are cold...nah.. Cordele Rolle: Allow him to hire a prostitute or get him a side chick while you are stilling loving them emotionally. This way you still get to stay on the life insurance and pension plan. Carolon M Taylor: This most certainly can be fixed. I hope he/she goes before the Lord for the solution. Only God can revive their sexual desires for one another. Ask God to expose the demonic spirit that has convinced them to turn away from their spouse.

Super Bowl XXIII: 49ers 20, Bengals 16 A crummy game turned into an instant classic thanks to a brilliant game-winning drive authored by Joe Montana. 8. Super Bowl XLII: Giants 17, Patriots 14 Two words: Helmet. Catch. 7. Super Bowl XXXVI: Patriots 20, Rams 17 The Patriots dynasty started with a massive upset that ended with a Tom Brady game-winning drive and clutch kick by Adam Vinatieri. NFL fans would have to

18

get used that kind of ending. 6. Super Bowl XXXIV: Rams 23, Titans 16 This was a great Super Bowl, but can we stop saying the Titans were one yard short of winning it? Even if Kevin Dyson had pulled a Michael Jordan in Space Jam and reached the ball over the goal line, the game would have gone to overtime. 5. Super Bowl XIII: Steelers 35, Cowboys 31 The game did not feature nearly as dramatic an ending as the rest of the top-10, but it was a game full of Hall of Famers all playing at a high level. Forget about Super Bowl history, this was one of the best games in the history of American sports.

ants and Bills did not give us a very exciting game. That was by design. New York didn’t want Buffalo’s explosive offense on the field, so it grinded out the clock on the ground and ended up winning the time of possession battle by about 20 minutes. A smart strategy? Sure, but it did not make for an entertaining game up until the end. 2. Super Bowl XLIX: Patriots 28, Seahawks 24 Malcolm Butler’s game-winning interception remains the best ending in Super Bowl history. It was not only totally unexpected but it was made possible by a play-call that will be debated for years to come. 1. Super Bowl LI: Patriots 34, Falcons 28 The game that gave us all of those 28-3 jokes. It featured the great comeback, the only overtime in Super Bowl history, not one but two spectacular catches and a fascinating chess match between the Falcons and Patriots coaching staffs. There are no arguments to be made: This is the greatest Super Bowl of all-time.

4. Super Bowl XXXVIII: Patriots 32, Panthers 29 The Panthers and Patriots gave us the most exciting fourth quarter in Super Bowl history, combining for five scores, including an 85-yard pass by Jake Delhomme, which remains a Super Bowl record, and Adam Vinatieri’s game-winning kick as time expired. 3. Super Bowl XXV: Giants 20, Bills 19 Some may argue this should be higher than third, but, before Scott Norwood’s infamous miss, the Gi-

The Food IQ GIRLS -February is American Heart Health Month

T

By: Valder Beebe

hank you for the emails welcoming me to 411RadioNetwork and the digital magazine. I am grateful. As the host of the Valder Beebe Show I bring a perspective that allows readers, listeners and viewers to hear direct from celebrities, those who have had experiences and awaken our soul and experts wanting to get their message direct to you.

This week I have interviewed metaphysicians and everyday people. Some have stories to tell others have information to share for the good of the audience. Dr. Haitham Ahmed, MD, a physician in the Cardiovascular Department at the Cleveland Clinic shared; February is American Heart Health Month and, according to the Cleveland Clinic’s 2018 Heart Health Survey, a majority, three-in-five (59%) Americans, know nothing at all or only a little about heart health overall. The Cleveland Clinic came up with an easy way to remember what steps to take if you think you are having a heart attack: C.A.N. which represents: Call – Call 911: Aspirin – Chew an aspirin: Nitroglycerin – Take a nitroglycerin pill if you have one. According to the survey results that were shared: When a heart attack happens, the best outcomes can depend on getting treatment quickly, and that means being able to recognize the warning signs and what action to take. The Cleveland Clinic’s 2018 Heart Health Survey, it discovered a strong need for further education for Americans on how to respond to signs of a heart attack. Most (82%) Americans know to call 911 as the first step if they think they are having a heart attack, but only about one-third (36%) know to also chew an aspirin. Not surprising, older generations are more aware of these potentially life-saving first steps, as Boomers (47%) and Gen X (33%) are

20

significantly more likely to know to chew aspirin than Millennials (23%). To further stay with the theme of February as American Heart Health Month, most were probably thinking of the pleasure of Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is wonderful to celebrate it’s my favorite of all holidays because I get to celebrate being married to the man of my dreams, James Beebe. Valentine’s Day is our anniversary. Yet the other 364 days require as much or more attention. Dr. Holly Schachner, MD. Head of North America, DCB Business Unit and the Medical Chair of Sanofi; shared…Did you know adults with diabetes are 2 to 4 times more likely to die from heart disease than those without diabetes? February as American Heart Month is the perfect time to chat about the link between diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Schachner wants us to have the all-important talk with our Physician. Find out your risk as an American and as an African American, about being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Then what steps you can take to lower your risk. Well this is truly Heart Awareness. What steps will you take to live a healthy and well life? The Food IQ Girls Sandra Hart & Valder Beebe Facebook.com/thefoodiqgirls

Superbowl 2018 commerical Ads - Wins and loses

By: Telea Stafford, President • Phenixx Marketing & Media • telea@phenixx.com • www.phenixxmarketing.com

T

he Superbowl is one of my favorite holidays, cheat days and work days. I applaud (not envy, ok envy a little) the advertising teams with the courage (and budget) to put together a Superbowl commercial that gets viewed by millions and reviewed the day after by marketing executives like me. But this is the biggest stage for athletes and brands, there were some clear winners and losers. #TBH were not all winners, who ever came up with that never lost a Superbowl game. Ok, back to our sponsors, this year did not disappoint, many brands brought their A game to the field while new and emerging brands stepped up with moments that had me hitting pause to find Blacture.com, Persil and wonder when Dodge Ram became a civil servant. The game was just an added bonus to the winning that happened during the breaks and television time outs. Note to celebrities, if you are going to get famous at all, get famous in September or October when ad executives are looking for the next big idea, insert Tiffany Haddish and Cardi B who both come up as winners of Superbowl Commercials. Amazon commercial featuring Cardi B had half of the audience googling Who is Cardi B and the other half googling who is Alexa, of course everyone knows Jeff Bezos. You have to love the person who suggested... let’s cast Morgan Freeman, best known for his voice and have him lip sync instead, but the duo between Freeman and Peter Dinklage is one of my top picks with Mountain Dew #spitfire. My most surprising moments are in the Beer Category. The good news for drinkers with new years resolution struggle, is that water appears to be the new beer. Both Budweiser and Stella Artois, two beer companies who used their 5 million dollar budget to promote water shocked us all. We all thought peiople drank beer not to care about our problems but were now solving them as a bonus of drinking. That is a win win. If you don’t lose yourself in television and don’t have time to watch all of the commercials just watch one... It’s A Tide Ad. I have heard that making fun of yourself is a sign of personal growth that would make Tide a very self actualized laundry detergent, ‘It’s A Tide Ad’ gave us everything and delivered the best all white moments we have seen in the last 12 months. Now things get messy, with the flavor roll out by Pringles ‘Wow’ ad, there has always been something about a tube of chips that makes me feel special. Pringles Wow commercial nailed the munchie moments and almost convinced us that after enough of those Beer Waters (see above) that stacking 6 Pringles can double as a pizza. I am ok with that. Finally last but not lost Tiffany Haddish strikes

again. The girls trip star somehow took a grapefruit and made lemonade all of 2017 and has managed to squeeze in enough time for Groupon. Tiffany Haddish is proving to other comedians that she isn’t protesting any checks as she turns a discount brand into comedic gold. My Top Spots Continue

Stinger could reverse the hands of time and make us dream again. 7) Amazon: “Alexa Loses Her Voice” As hard as Amazon is working its employees these days it’s no surprise that Amazon Alexa needed to

1) It’s a Tide Ad You almost don’t need to watch any other Super Bowl commercials, because they’re all here - parodied in Tide’s brilliant punch line lifting commercials that made Tide the star featuring “Stranger Things” star David Harbour. 2) Doritos Blaze/Mtn Dew Ice: Blaze vs. Ice dial in a sick day. Amazon leveraged welll... Amazon to call in cameo apperancances from Anthony Hopkins and Cardi B, never thought I would say they those two people in the same sentence. Great humour and both Cardi and Alexa got famous this year. 8) Budweiser’s “Stand by Me” Spot

Fire and Ice is the new Ebony and Ivory this brilliant superbowl ad just may DEW the trick of erasing everything that you believed was wrong with America and just settle things over a bag of chips and soda. 3) NFL Time of my life You have to love a little self promotion, only the NFL would run an ad for the NFL inside of the Superbowl. If you got in your feelings with the end zone dance choregraphy to Dirty Dancing, you weren’t the only one. I just love men in tights. 4) Australia The best tourism ad showed that there is really nothing like Australia even their ad was amazing. We were waiting for it to be the trailer to the come back of Crocodile Dundee instead it was the teaser for everyone in America to book a flight to the down under. Sorry yellow tail you can’t out kangaroo the Tourism Australia Ad. 5) Quicken Loans: “Rocket Mortgage with Keenan-Michael Key” Known for his “Key & Peele” character Luther the Anger Translator who helped us under the inner rage of a cool and collectedPresident Barack Obama, Keenan-Michael Key’s translation of how to translate overcomplicated people was a great way for rocket mortgage to continue to chip away at traditional banks mortgage market like bank of america who we all hope will have to work for Rocket Mortgage one day.

Continuing the trend of beer commercials that don’t actually mention drinking their beer, Budweiser also hypes their clean-water credentials, pointing to the fresh-water donations they’ve made to disaster relief. Also, Skyler Grey’s cover of “Stand by Me” might make you tear up. 9) Toyota: “Good Odds” Marketers by and large avoided any political messages this year (like last year’s Budweiser ad extolling the strength of immigrants, or 84 Lumber’s ad featuring migrants blocked by a border wall.). Instead, ad makers opted for the inspirational and uplifting. One of the best-produced of these was this story of a child born with physical challenges, who overcame excruciating odds to compete as a skier in the Paralympics. Beautifully shot and edited, and suitably heartwarming, the only drawback is that we have no idea who the sponsor is until the very end, and it’s a car. It could have been any brand, actually, from a company buying a feel-good commercial off the rack. 10) E Trade The only thing that was missing in this parody of why you should plan for your retirement was the old dude in the club... oh wait play that back did we just see a grandma DJ. I also loved the inside joke with Lionel Ritchie if you don’t get it then they also nailed reaching their target audience. 6) Kia Stinger: “Feel Something Again”

Watch out Harley Davidson Kia just became the official car of the midlife crisis if you are on a budget. Musician Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith, is 69, of course he is.. hes Steven Tyler. and only could a Rock Star Legend make us believe that a Kia
