School Project: “C is for Cinema”
This is the City of Arts and Sciences. It’s in Valencia. It’s next to river Turia. Some scenes in Tomorrowland were filmed here. There’s an opera house dedicated to music and scenic arts, auditorium and theatre. L’hemisferic is a cinema and a planetarium. It’s like a giant eye. There’s a swimming pool all around. It’s made of concrete, aluminum and glass. The museum of Science is like the skeleton of a whale. It’s made of glass, steel and concrete. There is an aquarium with dolphins, belugas, seals, penguins, turtles, sharks … There are sculptures and a garden with plants and palm trees.
It’s in Bilbao, near the Nervion River. It’s made of glass, titanium, limestone … There are 28 galleries, an auditorium, shops, a book shop, restaurants and a café … Outside the building there are some statues: a big spider made of bronze called “Mamá” and a big dog made of steel and decorated with flowers called Puppy. This building is in the James Bond film “The world is not enough” (1999)
It’s in Jordan, Asia. It was built 2000 years ago. It’s in a desert. The buildings were carved out of rocks. In this city of the ancient world there were hanging gardens, fountains and pools. More than 20000 people lived there. You can see this building in “Indiana Jones and the last crusade”, an action – adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg in 1989. It was the temple housing the Holy Grail.
