I wore the head just when the POA president was talking. Even just the head is stupid hot. It’s rubber. It’s keeping all the heat in. But I had a suit and the chicken head, so I kept it classy. It was like Chicken Man goes to Washington.

BRIGHTON BUILDERS I

8

YEARS

n the crowded field of Lowcountry area builders, it takes a lot to stand out. Yet that’s exactly what Brighton Builders has done, elevating its profile over its years in business to a level that sets the company well and truly apart. So, what’s the winning formula? If you ask Brighton Builders owner Ben Kennedy, it’s about relationships. “The relationships matter. For me, this is more about relationships and people than it is about building a house,” he said. Those relationships extend to everyone involved: the client, subcontractors, vendors and his own staff. And keeping them healthy is vital. “The house itself is second nature; it’s a byproduct of those relationships. And working on those is why we succeed.” The relationships built along the way are just one of the central tenets that informs two words that go beyond a mere slogan: Building Beyond is not just a motto, it’s a mission. Apart from approaching everything with the focus on people, building beyond means finding ways to go that extra mile and never being satisfied with good enough. “We don’t just stop at building houses … we offer a different level of service,” Kennedy said. That level of service means working far outside the bounds of homebuilding. Moving furniture, periodically starting a car for secondary homeowners, and even routine property check-ups are all part of the Brighton Builders service. It’s all part of Building Beyond. “I’ve had some clients ask some pretty unique things,” Kennedy said. “And if it’s in our capacity to help, we will absolutely do it.” It’s not explicitly about building relationships, but this dedication to extra services goes a long way. And from those relationships, Brighton Builders has not only delighted clients, but reaped the benefits of referrals. “As that referral base continues to grow, we’re excited for the bonded relationship with the community that follows.” That commitment to community is another part of Building Beyond. “We don’t just build houses. We are a resource for information. We’re here to educate and inspire,” Kennedy said. “Our goal as a business leader is not to take, but to give. We care about our community.” It starts with people, excels through service and ultimately benefits the entire community. It’s how Brighton Builders lives up to the words Building Beyond, and it’s how they’ve emerged as one of the Lowcountry’s top builders. 49 Pennington Drive, Suite F Bluffton, SC 29910 (843) 837-1119 www.brightonbuilderssc.com

“I was able to find a guy who dives for wood in the swamps, salvages and mills it,” Haynes said. “This isn’t even stained; we just put sealer on it. The variations in the patina come from the parts that were on the riverbed, where the minerals seeped into it.”
