t looks like season has arrived on Hilton Head Island, and the team at Charbar Co. is ramping up for its biggest year yet. Lots of great events and even some very cool surprises are in store for fans of the popular Park Plaza gourmet burger eatery! Coming off a strong performance in last year’s World Burger Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where their immensely popular Wagyu Wine Jam Burger placed twentieth in the world, Charbar is preparing a new menu for release in May that will feature all of their classic signature burgers as well as happy hour fare and more of the innovative and delicious burgers that have become their claim to fame. Many regulars have clamored for the return of the Goddess Burger, one of last year’s tournament entries. Featuring Charbar’s legendary house ground beef blend, melted brie cheese, crispy prosciutto, arugula, harissa tomato jam, and Green Goddess dressing, the local favorite will now become a staple on the regular menu. Mouth watering yet? Charbar team members are also firm believers that there’s no better way to kick off the summer than with a barbecue, and that’s exactly what’s happening on May 19 in the outdoor courtyard. Charbar has joined forces with Swampfire Records and Hilton Head Distillery to present the Swampfire Barbecue, which will kick off at 3 p.m. and roll all the way through the evening. Local and visiting guests are in for a treat as executive chef Brandon Burke will be in the courtyard grilling and smoking all the cookout classics you know and love. In addition, the Distillery team will be in attendance with a rolling satellite bar, offering ice cold rum punch and other signature cocktails, along with free tastings of their entire product line. Most important, the barbecue will feature eight hours of live performances from all of the musicians in the Swampfire Records stable, who will also be hanging out and meeting
guests all day. Expect to see sets by members of Cranford Hollow, Pretty Darn, and Naytiv, along with popular solo acts like Bobby Lee Magyarosi and Jared Templeton, with many more to be announced. It all leads up to a massive all-star jam session to rock the night away. Barbecue, beer, rum, prizes, and the best and brightest of Hilton Head Island’s local music scene, this is rapidly becoming one of the summer’s most anticipated events, don’t miss it! The barbecue will serve as the proper kickoff to Charbar’s summer entertainment program, which features nightly dinner performances from some of Hilton Head Island’s most popular solo artists. A diverse array of musicians set the courtyard stage with a different mood every evening, be it beach rock with virtuoso guitarist Tommy Sims, classic rock and country with rising local artist Taylor Kent, or good vibe reggae rock with Kyle Wareham, to name just a few. This will also mark the third year of Charbar’s rapidly emerging Summer Saturdays Concert Series, which features late night outdoor shows from the best bands Hilton Head Island has to offer, this summer is already shaping up to be the best yet with big shows from Pretty Darn, La Bodega, Naytiv, the Swampfire All-Stars, and brand-new reggae sensations, Soundboy! And then there are the rumors … Rumors? Secrets? Gossip? Call it what you will, but word around the island is that something new is coming to Park Plaza, something chill, something sexy, something fun, and something that the bourbon lovers of the Lowcountry are going to be very enthusiastic about.
