ENERGOTEROM mainly produces pre-insulated with polyurethane foam pipes and elements to DN 1000mm, is the only producer in the country for such diameters. With polyurethane foam, ENERGOTEROM runs thermal insulation and waterproofing for terraces, walls, industrial tanks, etc., constructing and installing indoor and outdoor heating systems, water polyethylene ductwork.

Describing the system polyurethane foam PUF serviceable pipe

coating

Pre-insulated pipes are built as a "pipe in pipe" structure. The inner pipe (serviceable) is chosen according to the nature of the fluid, the external pipe (protective coating) acting as thermal insulation, protection against external mechanical effects and preventing moisture from outside the insulation. The volume between the two pipes is injected with polyurethane foam. This system works as a whole, PUF (polyurethane foam) ensuring a good bond between the three components, they bear the same expansion under the action of heat loads. Pre-insulated pipes are joined by running a local isolation by applying a shrinkable sleeve of the same material as the protective coating, then PUF is injected, thus achieving a perfect tight thermal network from supplier to consumer.

Pre-insulated pipes Ţevi Preizolate Temperature range • on permanent request: -40 ° C to +150 ° C; • on temporary thermal stress: up to 160 ° C; • above 160 ° C, PUF is used in combination with mineral insulating material. Applicable areas Polyethylene coating: • buried pipes; • pipes mounted in sewers, indoors, where there is danger of flooding. Helical welded aluminum sheet: • pipes mounted on poles or supports; • pipes mounted in sewers, indoors. Employment Pre-insulated pipes are used to transport thermal energy: heating steam, hot water, thermal water transport, for corrosive environments, also in the oil industry, food industry, the serviceable pipe material (steel, copper, steel, polyethylene, polypropylene,etc..) is selected by the nature of the fluid. The serviceable pipe for the district heating system is made of: • galvanized pipe - to transport domestic hot water; • steel pipe - heat transport. Thermal insulation is rigid polyurethane foam with a minimum specific weight of 80 kg/m3. Convenience • insulation life: 30 years for an operating temperature of 160 ° C; • considerable reduction in heat loss (temperature variation is about. 1 ° C per network km); • the underground network no longer needs thermal concrete channel construction, pre-insulated pipes are buried directly in the ground; • shortens the construction time of the heating networks; • detection of possible damage by equipping the pipes with a surveillance system.

Handling, transport, storage • Pre-insulated pipes and elements must be protected from mechanical effects of collisions or static loads and transport must be conducted so as not to deform or deteriorate the pipes. • The pipes will be fixed against movement and shall not be transported with sharp objects that could damage the protective coating. Pipes can exceed the loading surface by 1m maximum, as prescribed by the movement and transport. The ends of pipes will be set against oscillation. In railway transport, pipelines will be fixed throughout their length to the transport surface, taking into account the requirements of railway. If transportation is long distance, bearing distance will not exceed 2m and the bearing surface must have a minimum width of 20cm. • Given the sensitivity of plastics to low temperature, below -5 ° C, loading and transport will be made with caution. • Raising pre-insulated pipes and elements will only be done with appropriate lifting devices (anchor straps at least 10cm wide shall be allowed). It is forbidden to use lifting ropes or wire rope without charge distributor because they can damage the protective coating. • Do not throw, roll, drag pipes and pre-insulated components. • Pre-insulated elements will be stored only on flat surfaces, with appropriate support. This will avoid the mechanical point loads due to uneven settlement, which could damage insulation. • The long term storage, of elements with protective polyethylene coating, in places exposed to the sunlight is not permitted because ultraviolet rays have a destructive effect on the coating and foam insulation can break down.

Pre-insulated Ţevi Preizolate products

Pipe siting • The trench must be built so that, if the diameter of the protective coating is below 200 mm, the distance between pipes and the distance between the trench and the pipes should be at least 150 mm. If the diameter is or exceeds 200 mm than the distance also needs to be at least 200 mm. Along the trench, polyurethane foam siting pads will be placed every 3 meters, on these pads the pre-insulated pipes will rest. The siting pads will be placed approx. 1 m away from the pipes end so that the connector can be fitted. These siting pads can remain in the trench when the work is done, they do not pollute and, at the same time, protect the pipes of the water in case of rain or infiltration, until 150 mm height. • Installing polyurethane foam siting pads can be replaced with wood siting pads with dimensions of 150 × 150 mm and length according to the trench width. Height of 150 mm can be achieved with 2-3 boards.

• After the local insulation and the sand bed are done, the wood sitting pads can be removed. The ditch grit is achieved only after local insulation is completed and the delivery of the working surface based on official report of hand over-take over. The grit of the sand bed is 0.3-2 mm (washed sand) and only 3% can contain granules of 10 mm. Clay and silt content of sand can not exceed 2%. Do not use fine sand or sand and silt content higher than that prescribed and is not normally allowed to cover the pipes with earth. By compacting the sand layer we must obtain a soil density of 80-85%. Informatively, the depth of laying the pipes, that withstand without damage the temporary duties owed by motor vehicles, is 0.8 m. • In case of constant traffic of vehicles, minimum laying depth is 1 m. • Different network related constructions (homes, fixed points anchor blocks) will be executed before starting local insulation work. In each case the concrete walls of the homes will have wall cross-

28 26 29

ings installed. If home execution is not prescribed dry, it is sufficient a crossings of other pipe internal diameter greater than 20 mm diameter casing protection and length of approx. 400 mm. If dry homes are requested, then rubber wall crossing rings will be mounted, provided by ENERGOTEROM. • Fixed points frames made of I and U profiles are mounted in concrete. They should be laid collinear. Corresponding to the siting, digging a single hole for the concrete block foundation is allowed. Welding the fixed points discs will be made only after complete reinforcement of concrete block.

Execution of pre-insulated networks Execution technology includes the following phases: Siting It is forbidden to support pipes with stones, bricks, pieces of metal. Maximum angle deviation is 3 °, above this value pre-insulated elbows will be inserted. Place the pipes on siting pads, pull the plugs on the ends of the elements. For the signal wired networks, pipelines must placed so that the thread is placed on top. Protective caps at the ends of pipes must be removed just before the start of welding, so dirt doesn’t get in ductwork. Welding During welding protecting the pipe is required to avoid damaging the insulation and its protective coating. The frame of the fixed points disc is reinforced by concrete, homes for sluices are made, pressure testing is performed, the supplier is informed about the completion of works in order to start the work on local isolation, ending the record of the pressure test, expansion pads are installed. At each expansion point (£, clearing "L", "Z") expansion pads of expanded polyethylene must be mounted. Expansion pads are mounted to cover the whole surface of the protective coating, on straight sections and around the outside bend of the elbows. Coverage Cover with sand in order to achieve a thick bed of sand and coverage of 150 mm. At the edge between sand and earth a warning tape marked "pre-insulated pipes” should be placed. For final coverage use compacted land. Proper compaction is 75-80%.

Pre-insulated ลขevi Preizolate products Observation When pre-insulated straight pipes are cut on site, signaling thread must be protected, so that the wire is cut to be longer than 15 cm from the free end of the insulation. The segmentation of pre-insulated elements (bends, branches, etc..) is strictly prohibited. If the underground network is continued to surface, connecting the underground network with the surface one, another polyethylene pipe will be installed to protect the coating of the pipe supporting the surface network one which must rise at least 50 cm above the ground.

Mineral wool shells are used in insulating underground and aerial pipes. They have a cylindrical split along generatrix. Can be produced strip or laminated with aluminum foil. Also, these products can be reinforced by polyethylene fabric, zinc, aluminum sheet, to achieve a more effective mechanical protection. In thermal points, for example, pipes may be isolated with basaltic mineral wool, up to a diameter of 350 mm with shells, and for a larger diameter with wool mattresses. Insulation protection is made with aluminum sheet. Datorită formei lor, izolarea termică a conductelor devine foarte simplă, iar în cazul unor intervenţii întâmplătoare, izolaţia se poate desface şi repune fără deteriorarea acesteia. Because of their shape, insulation of pipes is very simple, and in case of accidental interference, insulation can be opened and restored without damage. Diameter range of manufacturing is from 18 mm to 350 mm, with 20-100 mm thickness

PE pipes can be used for water supply networks, irrigation networks, fire-fighting network, etc.. Depending on the scope, PE foam pre-insulated pipes can be produced. Pipe connection is made by head to head welding with thermoboard or electrowelding-socket.

Welds are performed only by qualified and certified personel for this type of welding. In S.C. ENERGOTEROM LLC operators are certified by the company producing the machines (WIDOS) and ISCIR.

Preheating and welding pressures, respectively preheating times, welding and cooling are calculated for each pipe diameter and pipe wall thickness. These parameters are given and are tabulated at each workstation. Control is carried out by continuous monitoring of process parameters and their inclusion in observation charts polyethylene welding parameters.
