Celebrating
Quality Value & Service Since 1972
To Our Valued Friends and Customers... As we enter our 41st year of doing business, I wish to thank all of our valued customers who have booked with Celtic Tours World Vacations over the past years. Most customers repeat with Celtic to the variety of destinations that we service, including Ireland, Britain, Italy, Germany, Greece, France, Spain, Holland, Russia, Australia, New Zealand and more.
Ireland
In the past two years we have also introduced European River Cruises which are now very popular and sell out quickly. Our River Cruises are featured in our European Brochure and online. In addition to European River Cruising, we are delighted to offer you River Cruising in Russia and Africa. These cruises tend to sell out a year or more in advance, so please call as soon as you can to book your cruise to avoid disappointment! Currency exchange rates for tour packages continue to improve and will be a big factor for those visiting Europe in 2013. In additional you can take advantage of early bird promotional discounts up to $500 per couple on any published tours in Ireland & Britain or our European brochures, where noted on the tour pages. Save more on family vacations and travel as a group by private motorcoach or join one of our popular tours from our brochure. Your first stop should be your Professional Travel Agent! (Celtic Tours would be happy to give you a list of qualified travel agents in your area.) Your dream of international travel will be brought to reality by selecting a travel professional who will be able to offer first hand knowledge regarding the destination you will be visiting. They know the travel landscape and will be able to support you should you have concerns or difficulties. They are a phone call away, in comparison to online booking services, which will not answer your questions or assist you once the sale is made. When you call Celtic Tours World Vacations, you will always find a friendly human voice on the other end of the line. We personally answer every call that comes into our office during business hours, making sure you do not have to navigate through a phone queue and you are taken care of straight away. The nation’s most reliable tour operators belong to the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA). All members are required to post a minimum $1 million dollar bond, which is supervised outside of the tour operator’s control. And please take advantage of family discounts, specials and more offered here and on our website, with a visit to our website at www.celtictours.com or visit us on Facebook for up-to-date sales and promotions! All available through your local travel agent. We look forward to offering you a warm welcome on your Celtic Tours World Vacation. Remember to have your travel agent request availability of dates from Celtic Tours.

2-Day Tour Loch Ness & Inverness - Two days touring with one overnight in Inverness
Daily departure from Edinburgh April-October / Departs Tues, Thurs, Sat 11/1-3/31
B&B: Twin pp $279 / Single $289 / Child $219 Hotel: Twin pp $329 / Single $379 / Child $269 Day 01: You will depart Edinburgh and head north across the River Forth towards the Highlands. A short stop in Dunkeld is followed by a walk along the River Tay or perhaps at the nearby Hermitage, before you head for the holiday town of Pitlochry for lunch. If you take a quick lunch then there will also be the option to visit the local whisky distillery. From here the tour now takes you past Blair Castle into the Cairngorm National Park, where you will spend some time taking in the majesty of this amazing area, deep within the ancient Caledonian Pine Forests of the Rothiemurchus Estate. You then continue north and arrive at your destination of Inverness, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation. The evening is free for you to explore the capital of the Highlands. Day 02: After a leisurely breakfast you will be picked up from your accommodation in Inverness and explore the surrounding countryside en route to Loch Ness. Here you have the chance to either take a boat trip along the loch with great views of Urquhart Castle or stay on shore and visit the impressive ruins of the castle, overlooking the loch. You will spend your lunchtime on the southern shore of the loch in the charming village of Fort Augustus. The Caledonian Canal, which links the lochs of the Great Glen, dominates the town and makes a great place to relax and watch the boats sail by. You now continue south past Ben Nevis and Fort William to Glencoe. This haunting glen was the scene of a terrible massacre in 1692, where many of the Clan Macdonald were slaughtered. The return journey continues over the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and into the countryside around Stirling, before returning to Edinburgh around 19:00.

In the morning we will take the short drive to the west of the island via Saligo Bay for a visit to Kilchoman Distillery (the newest and smallest on the island) with the option of a coastal walk to Machair Bay for any non-whisky lovers. After lunch we will explore the tiny harbor village of Portnahaven, before taking the back roads along the west coast with its lovely sandy bays, on the way back to Bowmore. Here we will have the chance to visit Bowmore distillery or just relax and explore the village. Sunday, Day 04: Another day in paradise! Today we will explore the southern side of the island, home to the smokiest and peatiest of all whiskies – Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg. We will visit Ardbeg for a tour, tasting and lunch. The restaurant here is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy local produce as well as some unique whisky. We then follow that up with a visit to Laphroaig or a visit to the ruins of Kildalton church with its famous 8th Century Celtic cross. Alternatively we may stop in Bridgend where we could visit the community craft producers at Islay House Square or take a walk through the woods along the nearby River Sorn. Monday, Day 05: This morning we take the ferry back to the mainland then travel back through Argyll and the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada. We will stop here for lunch and a chance to visit the mysterious stone circles and the local community museum. From Kilmartin it is a short drive to Oban – the main ferry port for the islands, and known locally as the ‘charing cross’ of the north. We will have a free afternoon in Oban to enjoy this bustling and busy highland town. For those who are partial to some retail therapy, there are numerous shopping possibilities, or for those who wish to continue their thirst for Scottish whisky, Oban distillery is nicely situated in the heart of
the town. A hike uphill will bring its own rewards with stunning views from the most photographed structure in the west, McCaig’s folly. We enjoy a stay in this glorious highland town for 2 nights. Tuesday, Day 06: Today we will have an early start crossing on the ferry to Mull and enjoying an island adventure exploring her dramatic coastlines and wild beauty, before taking the small ferry to the peace and tranquility of Iona - birthplace of Celtic Christianity and ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here we can visit the historic abbey with its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard or explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem. We return on the ferry to Oban for your second night. Wednesday, Day 07: We travel north along the west coast around Appin, passing the impregnable Castle Stalker, and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. We pass through Fort William and take the historic road to the Isles to catch the ferry to Skye. We travel through Glenfinnan, at the head of Loch Shiel. From Glenfinnan the road crosses mountains and glens before reaching Arisaig and on through a spectacularly scenic stretch of coast with fantastic views of the islands of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Skye, This beautiful coastline is formed by a series of white beaches and a turquoise sea, known as the white sands of Morar. The road ends at Mallaig where we take the short ferry crossing ‘over the sea to Skye’. From here we travel north to the picturesque harbor town of Portree. We are dropped off at our accommodation in the early evening. Thursday, Day 08: Today is a very flexible day on Skye. There are many possibilities depending on the weather and your driver/guide’s knowledge will come to the fore in developing the best day out for you. We might travel north to the stunning Quiraing mountain pass and enjoy a spectacular walk through some of Skye’s extraordinary geological scenery or visit the Kilt Rock, composed of basalt columns (reminiscent of the pleats in a kilt) with its waterfall cascading over the cliffs and down into the sea below. Talisker Distillery is also on Skye, as are the famous Cuillin Hills. We return to our accommodation in Portree in the late afternoon for us to enjoy a free evening in the village. Friday, Day 09: We transfer south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland. We stop to visit the famous stronghold Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film “Highlander”. Before traveling east with stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Onto Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting “Nessie”. Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, made famous now as “Monarch of the Glen Country” before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland’s highest whisky Distillery, and onwards into Perthshire where we stop for refreshments before heading back to Edinburgh, arriving approx. 19.00. Make your way to your Edinburgh hotel for overnight. Saturday, Day 10: Check-out of your Edinburgh Hotel today for your return home. (Transfer to the airport not included, but can be pre-arranged.)

This is a tour for those who have heard about the dramatic landscapes of Scotland and of the Isle of Skye in particular. This tour gives you that little bit extra - with added sightseeing and the ability to travel at a more relaxed pace. This will give you more flexibility: to get off the bus more often, to take in a view, go for a walk with your driver/guide or spend some time photographing an area. This package also includes a pre and post night in Edinburgh.
Your Itinerary Sunday, Day 01: Arrive in Edinburgh today and make your way to your pre-booked Edinburgh hotel. Transfer to your hotel is not included, but can be arranged. Spend your day independently exploring Edinburgh. Overnight in Edinburgh. Monday, Day 02: Meet at the departure point at 207 High Street at 8:15am. Traveling north out of Edinburgh, you head into the Central Highlands and make a stop in the historic village of Dunkeld, where you can visit the ruins of the Old Cathedral. Take a walk alongside the Braan River through the forests of the Hermitage. Continuing north, the route passes through the Grampian and Monadhliath Mountains, as we head west for a view of Britain’s highest mountain Ben Nevis. Traveling through the splendors of Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel, you cross over the bridge to Skye and head for the island’s capital Portree, our base for the next two nights. We will be dropped at your accommodation and are then free to explore the town. Tuesday, Day 03: Today is all about Skye. North of Portree is the Trotternish ridge with its spectacular cliffs and rock formations, such as the famous Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing, the weather often adding to the atmosphere of this amazing natural scenery. Further west the scenery changes as we might venture towards the 13th century home of the Clan Macleod, Dunvegan Castle, the emerald green valley of Glendale and the dramatic sea-cliffs of Neist Point. Here on the most westerly point on the island, you might be lucky enough to spot some whales or basking sharks. We return to Portree for the evening. Wednesday, Day 04: Today we turn your attention to the south of the island. Spend time heading down to Elgol for seascapes and views of the Cuillin, or Talisker and its beautiful Bay or indeed Glenbrittle and its famed waterfall before driving down the Sleat peninsula to Armadale. We take the ferry over to Mallaig, a busy little harbor on Scotland’s west coast. From here it is another breath-taking drive, passing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct as we head to Fort William, where we stay for the night. Thursday, Day 05: Returning to Edinburgh today, we will drive down the shore of Loch Linnhe and then take in the majestic and atmospheric Glencoe and cross the wild and remote Rannoch Moor. Following rivers, lochs and forests we find ourselves back into the Lowlands of Scotland as we pass both Doune and Stirling Castles with maybe time for a photo stop before finally reaching Edinburgh. Make your way to your Edinburgh hotel for overnight. Friday, Day 06: Check-out of your Edinburgh Hotel today for your return home. (Transfer to the airport not included, but can be pre-arranged.)

Escorted - Enland’s Lake District, The Dales & York
Best of
Northern England
7 Day / 6 Night Small Group Escorted Tour + Edinburgh Enjoy five days spent discovering the best of northern England - the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Highlights include The Scottish Borders, Hadrian’s Wall, Lake Windermere, Wordsworth’s Cottage, the Yorkshire Dales, York and Yorkminster, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Alnwick. Plus first and last night prebooked in Edinburgh for you.
Your Itinerary Saturday, Day 01: Arrive in Edinburgh today and make your way to your pre-booked Edinburgh hotel. Transfer to your hotel is not included, but can be arranged. Spend your day independently exploring Edinburgh. Overnight in Edinburgh. Sunday, Day 02: Meet at the departure point at 207 High Street at 8:45am. Our tour starts by hugging the magnificent East Lothian coastline as we travel towards the walled border town of Berwick Upon Tweed. After stopping to admire the fortifications we continue to Alnwick Castle, home of the Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309. This magnificent Castle and it’s gardens have appeared in many films and television programs, most famously probably in the Harry Potter films. Leaving Alnwick behind we travel towards the City of York on the Great North Road, a route that has carried countless Roman Legions between the remote Northern outposts and the more populous settlements of Roman Britannia. We arrive in York your base for the next two nights in the late afternoon. Monday, Day 03: Today is a leisurely day that gives you the flexibility to spend time exploring the medieval heart of York, a city whose rich history goes back to the time of the Roman’s, Vikings and the Normans and then join our excursion to the North Sea coast of Yorkshire. Our journey begins in the late morning when we head for the magnificent North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Lunch will be in Whitby, a bustling fishing port and the inspiration for the fertile imagination of author Bram Stoker, who stayed in the Royal Hotel on the western side of Whitby while writing his famous novel Dracula. After lunch and free time in Whitby we travel to the fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, a perfectly preserved conservation village of winding lanes and narrow alleys before returning towards York. *The minicoach cannot access the main village because of local restrictions. The coach will drop us at the top of the village and we must walk down (and back up!) a steep hill to reach the old village center. Tuesday, Day 04: We are collected from our accommodation and head west into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Established in 1954, the Yorkshire Dales National Park has outstanding scenery, a range of wildlife habitats and a rich cultural heritage.
It’s a special place – a fantastic outdoor arena for recreation and peaceful relaxation and a haven for wildlife. Continuing West our route takes us through the Northern Dales an area of outstanding natural beauty that is the center of the Dales cattle trade. Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to taste the flavors of Yorkshire when we visit the town of Masham, home to two of Yorkshires best known breweries and the cheese making center in historic Hawes. Our final leg of today’s journey takes us high up into the remote hill of the Yorkshire Dales before descending into the lively market town of Keswick where you will be dropped off at our accommodation and are then free to explore this charming town. Wednesday, Day 05: After breakfast we head the short distance out of town to the mysterious Castlerigg standing stones. It is thought by many to have been built over 5,000 years ago and the scene of ancient rituals. We travel on to the shores of Ullswater described as England’s most beautiful lake where we can take a forest walk to see the mighty Aira Force waterfall. Continuing south over the narrow and winding Kirkstone Pass we stop at Lake Windermere where we have the option to take a leisurely cruise on the Lake or simply eat lunch while enjoying views of the mountains and lakes. After lunch we travel around the southern tip of Windermere and on towards Coniston Water and shortly afterwards we arrive at the picturesque conservation village of Hawkeshead, where the poet William Wordsworth attended Grammar School. After free time to explore the village we take the narrow country lanes north towards Grasmere, which Wordsworth described as “the loveliest spot that man hath found”. There is free time to visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage or enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden by the River Rothy. In the late afternoon we return to Keswick. Thursday, Day 06: Leaving the lakes behind us we start our climb towards Hartside Pass, at over 1900ft - on a clear day the hills and mountains of Scotland and the English Lake District are clearly visible. We follow the route of the old sheep drovers road between England and Scotland. Stopping at Hadrian’s Wall, built by Emperor Hadrian to keep the Scots out of the Roman Empire there’s an opportunity to explore some of the Roman remains and walk in the footsteps of the Roman Centurions who patrolled this desolate frontier. Following the ancient Roman Dere Street we cross the border into Scotland and continue on to the Border town of Jedburgh for refreshments by the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Our final stop is at the world famous Scott’s view with stunning views over the River Tweed and the Cheviot hills that form the border between Scotland before continuing North to Edinburgh arriving back approximately 19.00. Make your way to your Edinburgh hotel for overnight. Friday, Day 07: Check-out of your Edinburgh Hotel today for your return home. (Transfer to the airport not included, but can be prearranged.)

Thursday, Day 01: Arrive in Edinburgh today and make your way to your pre-booked Edinburgh hotel. Transfer to your hotel is not included, but can be arranged. Spend your day independently exploring Edinburgh. Overnight in Edinburgh. Friday, Day 02: We depart from 207 High Street at 09.00 and head north into the ancient Kingdom of Fife. Our first visit of the day will be Falkland Palace, where during a private, guided tour we will be able to discover more of this pretty Royal Palace. Built between 1502 and 1541, it is set in the heart of the unique medieval village of Falkland and has been residence and hunting lodge of eight Stuart monarchs. We continue to St Andrews and during a town walk our guide will tell us more about its past and more recent history. Our afternoon visit will be at the House of Dun near Montrose. This beautiful Georgian house, overlooking Montrose Basin, was built in 1730. It features superb plasterwork and now houses the Hutchison collection of Scottish colorists and the Stirling collection of furniture, ranging from the 18th century to the 1960’s. On route to Aberdeen we will make a photo stop at Dunnottar Castle, a dramatic and evocative ruined cliff top fortress in a truly stunning setting. Dunnottar is where they filmed Hamlet’s Macbeth and provided inspiration for Disney Pixar’s movie “Brave”. From here we continue to Ardoe House Hotel, a lovely 19th century mansion house, where we stay for 2 nights. Saturday, Day 03: Today we enjoy the Royal Deeside area. Our first visit will be Castle Fraser, one of the grandest of the Scottish baronial tower houses. Begun in 1575, the present castle contains an evocative Great Hall, fine furniture and many Fraser family portraits. Enjoy a visit through the beautiful 18th century walled garden. The tour continues to Banchory. Maybe take short nature walk in Glen Tanar or the Burn o’ Vat. Lunch stop is at Ballater before continuing with our afternoon. Crathes Castle provides the highlight for the afternoon. Turrets, gargoyles and the ancient Horn of Leys given in 1323 by Robert the Bruce are just a few of the features of this historic castle. Wandering through the outstanding, world-renowned June Borders, beautiful vistas of the castle can be seen through the fusion of colorful flowers. Return back to Ardoe House later for another overnight. Sunday, Day 04: Our tour heads further north today and starts the day with a visit to Leith Hall Garden and Estate, at Kennethmont near Huntly, which will open its doors especially for our party at 09.30. Leith Hall was built over three centuries, starting in 1650, and remained the home of the Leith-Hay family until the mid-20th century. We continue, traveling through beautiful scenery and on to Nairn, where lunch will be taken at nearby Brodie Castle. Dating from the 16th century, this imposing castle stands in rich Morayshire parkland, with very unusual plasterwork and a major art collection and tells the fascinating story of the Brodie family. In the afternoon we will be able to take the Clan Walk at the Culloden Visitor Center. The Clans are represented with their individual Crest and personal inscription. After the visit we continue to Newton House Hotel. A dinner for our group will be held tonight in one of the private rooms. Monday, Day 05: Today we travel south again through some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer. We pass Inverness and travel to Kingussie for a photo stop at the Ruthven Barracks. From here we continue to Dalwhinnie Distillery. Dalwhinnie is the highest Distillery in Scotland and takes its waters right from the source of the River Spey. A tour of the distillery is included and we will have the chance to taste the ‘Water of Life’. After a lunch stop in Pitlochry we head to Loch Leven by Kinross. In the middle of the Loch you find Loch Leven Castle, a late 14th century tower, which was the setting for the most traumatic year in the life of Mary Queen of Scots. We enjoy a short boat ride over to the castle, following in the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots. Then explore at your leisure the island and tower house, before returning back to Edinburgh, arriving around 18.30, for overnight. Tuesday, Day 06: Check-out of your Edinburgh Hotel today for your return home. (Transfer to the airport not included, but can be pre-arranged.)
