Nowadays in many fields scientist have keenly working on many productive projects which are for the betterment of humanity. One such innovative system is Launch and recovery system commonly known as LARS. This launching and recovering system are used for ROV’s. The remotely operating vehicle plays an important role in the subsea operation. To easily use the ROV’s at a depth of exceeding 4000 meters and deploying them over the side or through the moon pool the invention of Launch and recovery system has happened.

Looking at the requirements Okeanus has specially designed Launch and recovery system for subsea dependability and safety purpose in odd conditions deep down the sea. They have launched two Launch and recovery system namely Rapid mobilization Launch and recovery system and Eco sheave.

•Rapid Mobilization Launch and Recovery System The fully integrated design is constructed and designed to give ease to the customers and launch and recover a free-flying ROV. A Rapid mobilization Launch and recovery system consist of following things, 1.A winch or a level wind assembly which are efficient from collecting data from vessels of any size operating in waters with depth up to 10,000m.

2.A self-erecting A-frame. No crane is required for erecting the frame this helps to reduce mobilization time and money.

3.A docking head or an over-boarding sheave assembly and 4.An electro-hydraulic power unit.

This all is mounted on a single skid. This innovative design allows the entire system to be placed into an ISO flat rack to bring some ease in transportation and deployment.

Eco sheave

It’s an economical launch and recovery system designed for those who are in short of their financial budget. The Eco sheave is a high-quality over boarding sheave designed specifically according to the small diameter electro-mechanical cables, wire rope or synthetic lines. It is familiar to be used along with small to medium sized oceanographic, hydrographic or geophysical instrumentation. Such as CTD’s, Water samplers, plankton nets, and bottom grab samplers. The entire launch and recovery system is constructed with stainless steel and has a Delrin sheave with margin grave bearings over it, including a sealed roller bearing option on it. To accommodate common instrumentation cables the Launch and recovery system is available with multiple grooves option and diameters on it.
