All participants must follow the official event rules of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1, which are posted on the event website at www.chicago13point1.com/rules. Event rules must be reviewed in their entirety before race weekend.
RACE WEEKEND TRANSPORTATION
CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY (CTA) TRANSIT TIPS
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers an economical and convenient way to check out all Chicago has to offer. Garfield Park is accessible via the Conservatory-Central Park Green Line station, the Pulaski-Congress Blue Line Station or the #20 and #126 buses. For information on CTA fares and transit directions to and from the event visit transitchicago.com.
RIDESHARE
Participants utilizing rideshare to access Garfield Park on race day will be dropped off at the intersection of Homan Avenue and Warren Boulevard (40 N. Homan Ave.) on the east side of Garfield Park. Information teams and directional signage will help guide event attendees to the start line and Race Day Festival area.

Gear up for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 with a swift and efficient start! Choose a Divvy bike or scooter for a convenient and environmentally-friendly way to reach the starting line. Forget the hassle of docking on race day; Divvy’s valet service at Central Park Avenue and 5th Avenue will handle your bike or scooter as you prepare to race. PACKET PICK-UP PARKING
Parking is available in the garage located at the Roosevelt Collection. Parking in the garage is free for the first two hours with validation available at Packet Pick-up.
RACE DAY PARKING AND SHUTTLE
A shuttle service and parking will be available for free at the Halsted/Taylor Parking Structure with parking entrances at 760 W. Taylor Street and 763 W. Polk St, located on the campus of University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Shuttle service to and from Garfield Park will operate approximately every 20 minutes from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. The first shuttle is anticipated to leave from Halsted Street, adjacent to the UIC parking lot, around 5:15 a.m., and the final shuttle will leave Garfield Park at 11:45 a.m. Shuttles will drop off and pick up participants in Garfield Park at Madison Street and St. Louis Avenue near Gate 1. If you plan to utilize the shuttle service, please plan to arrive at the parking lot no later than 45 minutes prior to your desired arrival time in Garfield Park. RACE DAY BIKE PARKING
A courtesy secured valet bike corral will be available for participants and spectators at the northeast corner of Central Park Avenue and Madison Street within Garfield Park for bike parking. Bike valet will be monitored by event personnel.

PACKET PICK-UP
PACKET PICK-UP EMAIL
Participants will receive a Packet Pick-up email on Wednesday, June 5. Participant Packet Pick-up will take place on Friday, June 7 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, June 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Roosevelt Collection (150 W. Roosevelt Road). You must present your email* and one form of photo ID to receive your participant packet, participant bag, Nike participant shirt and pre-purchased beer tickets (if applicable).
*The Packet Pick-up email can be presented on the screen of a mobile device or tablet, or in the form of a printout/ hard copy. If you misplaced or did not receive a Packet Pick-up email, please email office@chicago13point1.com and a member of the event’s customer service team will resend the email.

VERIFY YOUR INFORMATION
We encourage you to verify your race information listed in the Packet Pick-up email. If any of the information is inaccurate (name and age division) you can make corrections by contacting the event office via email at office@chicago13point1.com.
PARTICIPANT PACKET PICK-UP
Participant Packet Pick-up will take place on Friday, June 7 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, June 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Roosevelt Collection (150 W. Roosevelt Road). You must attend the Participant Packet Pick-up to pick up your participant packet, participant bag, Nike participant shirt and any pre-purchased beer tickets (if applicable). If you cannot pick up your packet, a friend, family member or coworker can pick up your packet for you by presenting a copy of your Packet Pick-up ticket.
Runners who sign up and pay for race day Packet Pick-up can pick up their race materials starting at 5:30 a.m. on race day. Questions about race day Packet Pick-up can be sent to office@chicago13point1.com.
Participants 21 years or older will receive a drink ticket attached to their bib number that can be redeemed for one (1) Solemn Oath Lu Kolsch or Small Wave beer, City Water Pink Lemonade or Peach Lemonade hard seltzer or Go Brewing Suspended in a Sunbeam Pilsner or Sunshine State Tropical IPA non-alcoholic beer.* Additional drink tickets can be purchased for $6 each at Packet Pick-up on Friday, June 7 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, June 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and at the Race Day Festival. GEAR CHECK
To facilitate a more efficient race experience, the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 encourages participants to leave personal items at home and to keep small items such as keys, money or phones on your person during the race. If you bring items to the Chicago 13.1 that you can’t carry with you during the race, you must check them using your event-issued gear check bag at gear check. The race day gear check tent is located in the lawn northeast of the bandshell in Garfield Park. The gear check tent will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
About gear check:
• You must check your gear using your event-issued clear plastic bag (participant bag). Please note that the event will not handle oversized bags or luggage. Please note, personal bags may not be inserted into the event issued clear bag.
• To check your gear, remove the gear check tag from your bib number and fasten it to your event-issued clear plastic bag using the instructions provided. When you arrive to the gear check tent you will line up based on the row number listed on your bib.
• Do not check valuable items, such as wallets, money, phones or jewelry. The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.
• Participants will not be permitted to run with a bag. All personal items must be checked at your assigned gear check tent before the race.
• Do not leave bags unattended within Garfield Park. Unattended bags will be confiscated and removed from the park.
• You are required to claim your bag from your assigned gear check tent by 11 a.m. on race day. Bags not claimed by 11 a.m. can be claimed through the Lost and found page of the event website. Any items unclaimed by Friday, June 30, 2024 will no longer be available.
Reuse and recycle! We encourage you to reuse your participant bag following the race. When you’re ready to dispose of the bag, remove the cotton string and take the bag to a retailer in your area that accepts plastic bags for recycling. BIB NUMBER
Your Bank of America Chicago 13.1 bib number is a unique identifier that must be visible at all times on race day.
What you need to know about your bib number:
• Pin all four (4) corners of your bib to the outermost layer of clothing on your chest.
• Your bib must be visible at all times.
• Wearing your bib improperly (pinned at your waist, pinned to race belts or fuel belts etc.) could result in improper scoring and/or disqualification.
• Include your emergency contact and medical information on the back of your bib number.
• Your bib number is non-transferable and must be worn only by you.
• The sale or transfer of your bib number is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

TIMING DEVICE
1. Beer ticket: Participants age 21 and over (photo ID required) can redeem this tear-off portion of their bib number for one beer following the race at the Race Day Festival.
2. Gear check claim tag: Use this tag at your assigned gear check tent following the race to claim your gear check bag.
3. Gear check tag: Attach this tag to your event-issued clear plastic gear check bag.
4. Color of gear check tag: The color on your gear check tag indicates your assigned gear check location.
5. Start corral letter: This letter identifies your start corral assignment (A, B, C, D, E, F).
6. Unique race number: This number is your unique race number and identifier. For this reason, your bib number is non-transferable and must be worn only by you. Transfer of your bib number is strictly prohibited.
You must wear your bib number as instructed above throughout the entirety of the race to record an official finish time and place for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1. A timing device is permanently attached to the back of your bib number. Do not remove the timing strip from your bib, fold or damage it in any way. Your time will be recorded from the point at which you cross the timing mats at the start line until you cross the timing mats at the finish line. The timing device is single-use and does not need to be returned after the event.

ON-COURSE PROHIBITED ITEMS
Wheeled devices are not permitted on the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 course by anyone other than registered and authorized wheelchair participants, duo team participants and authorized course marshals on bicycles. Prohibited wheeled devices include unauthorized wheelchairs, baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled devices. Motorized devices of any kind are prohibited.
The use of selfie-sticks, camera mounts or rigs, video devices, computers, drones, unmanned aerial devices, or any similar devices by anyone while participating in the event is prohibited.
Camelbaks® and any type of hydration backpack are prohibited. For the avoidance of doubt, fuel belts and handheld water bottles are allowed.
The use of music devices is permitted during the race; however, in keeping with USATF rules for championship races, athletes competing for overall awards or prize money may not use music or communication devices during the event.
The use of cell phones, cameras or similar devices by participants while in the event is discouraged, and event officials reserve the right to disqualify any participant using such devices who pose a safety hazard on the course.
Additional prohibited items on the course route include but are not limited to: large bags (backpacks, suitcases and rolling bags), hard-sided coolers, props and non-running equipment, including flagpoles and sticks, pets/ animals (except service animals that are trained to perform specific work or tasks for a person with a disability), alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, chairs, weapons, remote controlled aircrafts and drones.
Prohibited items at the event site in Garfield Park include but are not limited to: hard-sided coolers, pets/animals (except service animals that are trained to perform specific work or tasks for a person with a disability), alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, chairs, weapons, remote controlled aircrafts and drones.
Please note, any items deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate will be confiscated at the sole discretion of security personnel.
TOILET FACILITIES
Toilet facilities are located west of the Race Day Festival and directly adjacent to start corrals gateways in Garfield Park. Allow for ample time to get to your start corral prior to the start of the race.
Did you know the paper products used in the toilet facilities on the course and throughout Garfield Park are made of 100% recycled materials? This is another step the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 has taken to be a more sustainable event.
AID STATIONS
Aid stations (eight locations) are located along the course one to two miles apart. Each aid station consists of the following amenities in this order:
• Medical Tent (except Aid Station 1)
• Toilet facilities
• Nuun Endurance (pre-mixed lemon-lime flavor)
• Water

Maurten is the Official Hydrogel Sports Fuel for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1. Gel 100, the original marathon hydrogel, will be available at start hydration before the event. On course, the Maurten Hydrogel Fuel Depot will be stocked with Gel 100 at Mile 8.3. Each Gel contains 25 grams of carbohydrates.
There will be a Biofreeze Pain Relief Zone around Mile 8.5 where the Biofreeze Cooling Crew will be armed with Biofreeze spray to cool the pain and help you cross the finish line.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
Medical support is available at five on-course locations. Each is staffed by a team of medical professionals, is equipped with emergency and first aid supplies and has access to ambulance service.
In Garfield Park, the Main Medical Tent is located directly beyond the finish line. For the safety of all participants, only those requiring medical assistance may access the medical facilities. If you feel like you need medical assistance on race day, you are encouraged to seek help from a medical volunteer or visit a medical tent in Garfield Park or on course.
Lend a hand, save a life! Participants, volunteers and event staff are encouraged to watch an instructional Hands-Only CPR video from the American Heart Association in advance of race weekend. This training is critical and can be lifesaving.
RACE DAY LACTATION SPACES
Breastfeeding parents attending the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will have a designated place in Garfield Park to pump or nurse on race day. The lactation space will be adjacent to an Information tent east of the Race Day Festival, located between the Finish Line exit and Start Corrals. Those interested in using the spaces will have access to a semi-private tented facility, a water source or a portable hand-washing station and a power source.
Staff will be onsite at each location to assist those interested in using the space on a first-come first-served basis.
Please note, the event will not store or transport equipment.

AMERICAN RED CROSS REUNIFICATION
If a participant is transported to a local area hospital at the discretion of the medical team, the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago’s Reunification staff will be on hand in Garfield Park to provide information regarding that patient to family and friends. Reunification staff can be found in the Information Tents located throughout Garfield Park. Family members may also call 888.659.9877 to speak with a Reunification Operator to inquire about a patient. Refer to the course map for locations and inform friends and family of this service in advance of race day.

Need some extra support in your goal to finish the Bank of America Chicago 13.1? Are you looking to run a personal best? The pace team will help you meet your performance goals.
The pacers will be established in the following corrals for these half marathon finish times:

COURSE TIME REQUIREMENT
The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 has a course time limit of 3 hours and 15 minutes (03:15:59). After this time, the course will re-open to vehicular traffic. As roadways reopen, persons choosing to remain on course must move to the sidewalk and follow all pedestrian laws. You must maintain a 15-minute per mile pace (approximately) or faster, completing the full race distance (13.1 miles)—start line to finish line—within the event time requirement.
Participants who finish outside of the time requirement may not receive full on-course support from aid stations and traffic safety personnel. Runners who finish outside of the time requirement may not be recorded as official finishers.
TIMING CHECKPOINTS AND MILE MARKERS
Timing checkpoints and mile markers will be positioned at the start line, throughout the course and at the finish line. Your event timing device, attached to the back of your event bib number, will register your time at each timing checkpoint. Digital clocks at the finish line will display the elapsed race time, which begins with the start of the race (7 a.m.). Your individual race time may differ depending on when you cross the official start line.

The most efficient way to stay updated on race day results is at chicago13point.1.com. The mobile-friendly race website allows spectators to view our race leaderboard and to follow friends and family by getting real-time updates and race results.
AGE GROUPS
Men, Women and Non-Binary: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 6569, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over. The top finishers in each age group will receive an award.
RUNNER REFRESHMENT
Refreshments will be available following the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 within the Runner Refreshment area, including Nuun Endurance (lemon lime), Maurten SOLID bars, bananas and Stan’s Donuts. Only race finishers will be allowed in the Runner Refreshment area. Once you exit the finish area, you may not re-enter.

RACE DAY FESTIVAL
The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 Race Day Festival will be held in Garfield Park immediately following the 13.1 Mile run on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Race Day Festival will feature community and sponsor booths along with music and food. Participants 21 years or older will receive a drink ticket attached to their bib number that can be redeemed for one (1) Solemn Oath Lu Kolsch or Small Wave beer, City Water Pink Lemonade or Peach Lemonade hard seltzer or Go Brewing Suspended in a Sunbeam Pilsner or Sunshine State Tropical IPA nonalcoholic beer.* Additional drink tickets can be purchased for $6 each at Packet Pick-up on Friday, June 7 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, June 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and at the Race Day Festival. ASL INTERPRETATION SERVICES
Sign language interpreters will be available race weekend to assist participants who may need to utilize their service. Interpreters will be available at Packet Pick-up on Friday, June 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The interpreter will be located near the information area of Packet Pick-up. On race day, interpreters will be at the Adaptive Program tent from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Adaptive Program tent is located in Garfield Park on the northwest corner of Jackson Boulevard and Woodward Drive.

The 2023 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 earned Evergreen Certification from the Council for Responsible Sport, a recognition reserved for sporting events that demonstrate the highest possible commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The Council for Responsible Sport is a not for profit organization which provides objective, independent verification of the socially and environmentally responsible work of sporting events. Responsible Sport certified events are some of the world’s leading examples of responsible sport in action, supporting sustainability and environmental consciousness.

The West Side Wellness Walk, youth events and community pop-up will take place in the south section of Garfield Park. The start and finish for the Wellness Walk and youth events will take place on Music Court Circle near the Garfield Park Bandshell south of Madison Street. The Walk course will be on the footpath in the south section of the park. The community tents will be on Music Court Circle on the south side of the Bandshell.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO DISTANCE SERIES
The Bank of America Chicago Distance Series is made up of Chicago’s premier racing portfolio: the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, Bank of America Chicago 13.1 and Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The three races span the outdoor running season and celebrate the vibrant and diverse nature of our local and global running communities. Individuals who finish all 2024 events will receive a unique Bank of America Chicago Distance Series medal and will be eligible for a guaranteed entry into the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
EVENT ALERT SYSTEM
The Event Alert System communicates the status of course conditions to participants leading up to and on race day via email updates, color-coded signs, PA announcements and flags. Alert levels range from Low to Moderate to High to Extreme based primarily on weather conditions, as well as other factors. All participants should familiarize themselves with the Event Alert System before the race, remain alert for directions from race officials throughout the event and take precautions to prepare properly for varying weather conditions on race day.
