How it's like working for a global Life Science company?
Vanessa Pickel, a CEMS master’s graduate, has been working at Bayer for two years now. She is currently part of Corporate Product Supply Controlling and offers interesting personal insights into what it’s like to work at Bayer. What made you decide to start your career at Bayer? During my undergraduate studies at the University of Cologne, I had the chance to get to know Bayer during an internship in 2012. This experience enabled me to immerse myself in the Bayer world, and I was impressed by the open and supportive colleagues around me who made me feel very welcome. At the end of my postgraduate studies two years ago, I was given the chance to write my thesis at Bayer’s Supply Chain unit. This was a fantastic opportunity for me. While working on my thesis, I received the full support of my colleagues. After that, I started looking around for job offers at Bayer. I applied for a position within the Global Supply Chain Management department and was delighted to be able to start my professional career at Bayer. What makes Bayer special for you? For me, it was particularly important to work at a company that allows and even strengthens international teamwork. Working at a global company like Bayer makes this possible. I am now working for Corporate Product Supply Controlling, where Supply Chain Controlling is one of the main fields. I’ve had my own responsibilities here from day one. I’m very happy to be part of a team with a great team spirit. It is very inspiring for me to work with people with different cultural and national backgrounds. This is not only very valuable for the overall team result, but also injects a lot of fun into our day-to-day work. The experience I gained while studying CEMS proved helpful to me when embarking on my career path. Working with international students made me become even more tolerant of different attitudes and enabled me to recognize very quickly how valuable diversity is.
