Sneak Peek Student Board Meeting & Annual Events 2014
Brussels, November 24 – 29, 2014
Executive Team For the Executive Team the meeting during the Annual Event in Brussels has been really successful and important on two aspects. First, a new organization based on a three-member team enabled to enhance productivity and communication within the Student Board, continuing the work started last year. Then we developed our new strategy, putting the stress on three main points: the success of CEMS in Asia, addressing all the students’ needs, and enhancing visibility and communication of the Student Board to give a better understanding and a stronger voice to students in our Global Alliance.
CEMS Club Support For us in the CCS Team, the Brussels meeting was an important milestone in following up on the projects we started in Istanbul. After numerous Skype calls during the fall with CEMS Club Presidents (24 out of 29) and Global Ambassadors, we are now discussing how to compile the insights gathered, share it with the Clubs and move forward with the projects. In addition, we have decided to review the CC Awards in the upcoming months in order to make sure the ratings fill its purposes and are fair to Clubs all over the world.
MIM Affairs MIM Affairs distributed team roles and drafted a preparation plan of the Local Governance Structure (LGS) project. The Corporate Benchmarking Report (CBR) project was re-opened to rewrite the executive summary and implement small content changes. MIM Affairs’ goal is to communicate the CBR report as soon as possible to PMs / CRMs. Moreover, MIM Affairs passed the Virtual Engagement Project onto the newly established Corporate Partners Team, ensured knowledge transfer and shared team insights. As to further globalization of CEMS, MIM Affairs defined a rollout scope and structure for collaboration with African schools. Finally, the team finalized its mission statement and new strategic direction, incorporating 3 strategy pillars: developing expertise in curricular topics, ensuring knowledge transfer and further globalization of the CEMS MIM programme.
Corporate Partners Relations During the Brussels meeting CP team has made immense progress in dealing with our IT offer project. In close collaboration with Head Office Corporate Relations Managers, Tara Miller and Marcel Fuchs, the project structure was created. Working with Head Office representatives helped the CP team understand the needs and preferences of one of the project's stakeholders. Moreover, the team succeeded in elaborating problem structuring and segmenting. We decided to create surveys for students and corporate partners in order to identify their expectations of the IT channels. Finally, a project timeline has been elaborated on for a period of 10 months. Let the work begin!

Alumni Relations For the Alumni Relations team, the central theme of the Brussels Annual Event meeting was inclusion: We had the chance to incorporate the opinions of all the Student Board members and the contributions of the CEMS Alumni Association in our main project, the Local Governance Structure, planning the first steps of the roll-out phase. Furthermore, the team conducted a workshop on next semester’s major upcoming event, the Global Alumni Week, and defined details and contents of the next Alumnus of the Quarter campaign and an Ideal Alumni Survey. We, the Alumni Relations team, want to wish the best of luck in their future endeavors to all new graduates and welcome them in the Alumni world!
Marketing and Communications The Brussels meeting was very busy for the M&C team, as we had to take care of merchandise sales during the Annual Events and at the same time participate in the SB meeting. Since our Career Forum sales estimates did not materialize in Vienna, we had to figure out a new approach to selling merchandise during the Annual Events. Fortunately, we did increase our sales figures from Vienna. Overall, the Brussels meeting was very important for our team. Firstly, we had the chance to welcome our newest team member, Eve from Tsinghua, to the team. Secondly, we had the chance to discuss and coordinate our projects with the Head Office. Lastly, we had the opportunity to hear the new Executive Team strategy and tried to align our activities with it. We especially tried to incorporate their focus on the Asian partners. Our new team member will be a very valuable asset in increasing CEMS’ visibility in our Asian partner schools with her extensive local knowledge.
Global Sustainability For the Global Sustainability Team, the meeting in Brussels has been essential to evaluate our initiatives and impact, planning ahead accordingly. Our focus in approaching our projects was to enhance and increase the opportunities for responsible and sustainable leadership offered to CEMS Students. In order to do so, we have developed New Generation Consulting’s (NGC) externalization strategy from the Student Board to allow it to grow faster; decided to access how we can establish a closer relationship with CEMS Social Partners to benefit them and our students; and designed CEMS Forest’s project proposal to contribute to the Alliance’s environmental sustainability.
