ACADEMIC SUCCESS Centenary Women’s Lacrosse is proud of the academic and leadership success of these fine scholar-athletes. The team’s GPA steadily remains over 3.3 with the Athletic Department’s highest team GPA’s in 2009 and 2008. Out of a total of 45 players on the roster over the last 3 years, 32 have been named to an All-Academic Team. Chelsea Gummerson and Kim Kupper of the 2011 team, and Kiti Ovaskainen of the 2010 team were Selected New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year for her academic and lacrosse prowess. In 2012, Chelsea Gummerson won the prestigious Cardy Gemma Award given to a senior student-athlete who displayed outstanding leadership, academic and athletic success, following Leslie Pritchard from the 2010 season. The women’s Lacrosse team has been a strong influence within the Council for Student-Athletes (CSA) with Chelsea Gummerson serving as CSA President in 2012, Lauren Lamotta as CSA President in 2011 and Kristen Wirasnik as Vice President in 2010.
