FROM THE EXHIBITION DIRECTOR
Welcome to Hike/Bike/Ski, an art exhibition that speaks to all the reasons that we love the place we live. From the moment of excitement when there’s a breakaway in the peloton, to the calm of hanging up your snowshoes after an exhilarating winter hike, our artists have captured those moments of adrenaline, of exhaustion, and of awe. What I love about this show is that it works on two planes—the literal and the metaphoric. We have photos of the runner putting in the miles on a trail AND we have macroscopic looks at the environments where we do the things we love. You’ll never lace up your ice skates again without thinking about the methane bubbles trapped under the ice of a frozen lake.
What makes this show special is that art—like outdoor recreation—has a magical way of connecting us all; so, as you weave through the gallery, there may be a piece or two that just might spark a special memory for you. I urge you to buy that piece and give it a place of honor in your home. Sometimes it’s as simple as admiring a painting of a hidden trail or a pile of bike parts to get you motivated to get out and enjoy our beautiful state. Or, on another day, that piece of art might inspire you to stay cuddled up on your couch—remembering your last hike/bike/ ski adventure and dreaming up your next one!
As always, it’s my honor to work with this talented group of artists in creating this exhibition. Thank you for trusting me with your work. And to our sponsors, Pandora John Properties, Team Evergreen Cycling, SCFD, and Colorado Creative Industries, thank you for all you do for CAE and our community. We are truly grateful for your support. I hope all of you enjoy the show as much as we do. Thank you all for keeping the Arts Alive in our Mountain Community.
With gratitude,
Sara Miller Senior Director of ExhibitionsTHANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

ABOUT CAE
BRINGING THE ARTS TO EVERGREEN SINCE 1974
What started as a dream by local art enthusiasts in 1974 has become a lasting community resource. Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) provides quality art instruction, exhibitions, and events. Our main gallery showcases local and nationally-acclaimed artists in both curated and juried exhibitions. We offer myriad educational opportunities for adults and children in the visual arts, writing, and art history. In September of 2017, Center for the Arts Evergreen moved into the newly renovated and historic Bergen Park Church, which additionally features a retail shop filled with artisan handmade gifts for any occasion. Visit us for monthly cultural events, concerts, lectures, artist demos, wine tastings, and much more.
