CURATOR'S NOTES
When you read the history of Evergreen, you learn that artists of all sorts have been creating in our area for hundreds of years. Artists bring life to a community, and the arts truly are The Roots of the Place in Evergreen and at CAE. Fifteen years ago, I was writing the arts column for the Canyon Courier in Evergreen, and I felt honored to tell the stories of so many artists in our mountain town. Now, years later, I’m honored to be part of the stories of these artists by curating their work into exhibitions like this one. When I walked into the half-finished gallery on Wednesday morning, my first thought was, “This show brings me joy.” It is filled with light and color and expressions of genuine human emotion. It is my sheer pleasure to know and be involved in the careers of hundreds of artists and to work with a staff at CAE who is so dedicated to bringing art to our mountain community. I hope you enjoy The Roots of the Place as much as we do!
