from the exhibition director
The idea for Touch & Go came about when we met Libby Garon at Walker Fine Art Gallery. Libby is passionate about art, and when you listen to her speak, you lose yourself in her knowledge of art history and her delight in the emotions that artists bring to their work. The response was tremendous to our call for entries. Libby’s thoughtful eye and stellar reputation as a guest juror led to many submissions from artists who are new to Center for the Arts Evergreen. We are so pleased to welcome these new artists to our CAE family and to welcome back many who have shown in our gallery numerous times before.
Touch & Go is an exhibition filled with color and motion. Libby asked for texture and movement, and that’s what we got in the 50 pieces she selected: urgent voices, kinetic energy, and expert use of color and light. Each piece adds to the story of Touch & Go. We are so grateful for Libby’s vision and the support of our sponsors, Alexa Interiors, Mountain Home, Colorado Creative Industries and the SCFD, for making Touch & Go possible.
Please keep this catalog — give your business to our sponsors, visit the websites of the artists, and continue to support their artistic endeavors year-round. In turn, CAE will continue to enrich and serve our mountain community by promoting and cultivating the arts through quality educational programs, exhibitions, and events. Thank you for keeping the arts alive in our mountain community!
Touch & Go is an art exhibition created at the Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) in Evergreen, Colorado. CAE is a registered nonprofit that has been in existence for 47 years. CAE’s mission is to enrich and serve our mountain community by promoting and cultivating the arts through quality educational programming, exhibitions, and events. Touch & Go runs from April 14 - May 20. This exhibition would not have been possible without the help of so many artists, businesses, volunteers, and the CAE board and staff.
With gratitude,
Sara Miller Senior Director of Exhibitions, Education & OutreachABOUT THE JUROR
Libby Garon began her art path studying studio art with a focus in printmaking at Mount Holyoke College in MA and interning at Dieu Donne Paper Mill and Lower East Side Print Shop in New York, assisting artists including Kara Walker, Ann Hamilton and Ursula Von Rydingsvard. She has been in the Denver arts community for over a decade working and serving as a board member for institutions including Art Students League of Denver, Access Gallery, Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association, PlatteForum, Culture Haus, Denver Art Museum’s Conservation Committee and Museum Friends. As Denver continues to grow, Garon is an active arts advocate and strives to share her passion for the arts in everything that she does. She continues to make and sell her own work and appreciates having both perspectives of the artist and the arts professional.
