WET: A DACAmented Journey was developed at and premiered as a True Story production by Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA in August 2017 at Atwater Village Theatre, Los Angeles, California. Development support provided by the CRITICAL BREAKS Residency Program at Hi-ARTS. Additional development support and touring version of WET: A DACAmented Journey provided and co-commissioned by Cara Mía Theatre, Ignite/Arts Dallas and ArtsEmerson.

WHO’S WHO ALEX ALPHARAOH (Writer/Performer) is a Guatemalan born, nationally recognized, award-winning actor, writer, spoken word poet, solo performer, and teaching artist from Los Angeles, CA. Alex is the recipient of the LADCC 2018 Solo Performance of the Year award for his work on WET: A DACAmented Journey. As a formerly undocumented citizen, Alpharaoh believes in the transformative power of sharing one’s truth and vulnerability, especially in the face of danger. Alpharaoh has been acting professionally for over a decade and has been a lyricist for over 25 years. He is currently in the process of writing his first memoir, as well as the next installment of WET titled, WET: DREAMers. Brisa Areli has directed and facilitated work with American Repertory Theater, The Public Theater, Harvard University, Yale Repertory Theatre, Brooklyn College, New York City Center, The Civilians, Carnegie Hall, SHoP Architects, ArtsEmerson, Baylor University, BRIC Brooklyn, REDCAT, Garry Marshall Theatre, The NYC Department of Education, Actionplay, Sojourn Theatre, CUNY Creative Arts Team, Hi-ARTS, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, New York City Children’s Theater, Vital Theatre, and Atlantic Pacific Theatre. She serves as the Artistic Director of Applied Theatre Collective, where she has facilitated work internationally with peacebuilding educators in Iraq and international mediators in Romania. SAMMY ROSS (Lighting Designer) Sammy Ross is a Lighting Designer, Photographer, Podcaster, and Creator. Sammy designs for theatre, television, and live events coast-to-coast including Casa 0101’s annual women’s playwriting festival in Los Angeles, and Always Patsy Cline at Music Theatre of Connecticut. She is a Lighting Director for news programs such as CNN, Bloomberg, and Yahoo Finance. (Composer) Jacqueline Wright’s Eat Me for the stage and screen. heardrum.org B. RUBÉN MENDOZA (Co-Director of Photography) is a Salvadoran-American cinematographer from Los Angeles. Most recently he photographed the feature films, Puddysticks, starring Mamoudou Athie and Dan Bakkedahl, and We Burn Like This. He received his MFA from USC School of Cinematic Arts and was recently selected as a mentee in the ASC Vision Mentorship Program under Xavier Grobet, ASC. Mendoza is currently participating in Film Independent’s Project Involve. As a cinematographer, he enjoys producing immersive images that evoke feeling and make space for empathy. FRANCISCO TEJEDA (Co-Director of Photography) is a filmmaker and cinematographer from Los Angeles. Recently, he photographed Wilderness, an official selection of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (2020), The Social Justice Film Festival (2020), and HOLA Mexico Film Festival, presented by HBO and The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Francisco also served as a producer on En Llano, En Llamas, a Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award selection. Drawing inspiration from his city, family, and the stories that connect the two, his work seeks to capture stories that encourage people to examine their relationship with personal histories, physical surroundings, and assumed identities. JENNIFER FRANCO (Stage Manager) has been a stage manager for over 12 years. She has worked on plays throughout the Orange County and Los Angeles area. When she isn’t stage managing, she works as a special event coordinator at her alma mater, USC School of Dramatic Arts. She is beyond excited to be working alongside her long-time friend and chosen family Alex Alpharaoh on his beautiful story, WET: A DACAmented Journey. She is forever thankful and grateful for the loves of her life, her husband Chris, and their son, Jaxon for allowing her to share her time to create art.

TYRONE DAVIS (Associate Artistic Director) is a director, actor, producer, educator, and member of Center Theatre Group’s artistic staff, he previously served as its Audience Engagement Director. He is the creator of the Not a Moment, But a Movement initiative for CTG’s Digital Stage, a series of events that amplify Black artists presented in partnership with The Fire This Time Festival of NYC and Watts Village Theater Company. Selected producing credits include: Crowndation, Black Nourishment, The Duat, WET: A DACAmented Journey. He is passionate about commissioning and developing new works with artists and audiences both locally and nationally.
