How Green Was My Valley
Amahl and the Night Visitors
PERFORMED IN COLORADO SPRINGS
PERFORMED IN DENVER
The award-winning novel by Richard Llewellyn is transformed through song in this story of courage by composer Roger Ames and librettist Elizabeth Bassine. Mining brings unwelcome changes to a small community in Wales – both to their lives and to their once beloved green valley. Main character Huw Morgan finds his own way as he grows into manhood amidst family crisis.
Gian Carlo Menotti’s tuneful one-act opera brings the meaning of the holiday season home for all. Through their encounters with the Three Kings and a magic star, shepherd boy Amahl and his mother learn how unselfish love and good deeds can work miracles. December 12, 13, 14 Details coming soon.
A partnership of Central City Opera, The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and The Colorado Springs Conservatory. Tickets starting at $15 available April 15. Visit CentralCityOpera.org/valley for information.
