Designed and custom-built to make the most of its glorious beachfront and bush CROWN 12 Coral Crescent, Pearl Beach setting, this Pearl Beach house recently won two prestigious industry awards.

Michael and Linda Cunningham, the owners of 12 Coral Crescent, Pearl Beach, were thrilled to hear that Gremmo Homes, the company that designed and built their house, won two categories in the recent HIA (Housing Industry Association)-CSR Hunter Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards: Best Custom Built Home $1,500,001 - $2,000,000 and Residential Interior Design of the Year. The couple bought the property in 2009 when it was a rundown fibro shack, renovated it to use as a holiday house and in 2019 decided they enjoyed life on the Coast so much they would rebuild and make it their permanent home. “Having lived in the house on and off for four years, we knew what we wanted in terms of our lifestyle and the design of the place,” Michael says. “We wanted to make the most of the beachfront location as well as the hinterland views at the back, and as we love entertaining, the flow from inside to outside had to work year-round.” There are unobstructed “kick-ass” views of the beach and bush from the front and back decks and the marvellous sense of light, space and tranquillity is emphasised by three-metre ceilings on the middle level. “Having enough space for the family was also important – our grownup kids visit regularly – and the four bedrooms and study work really well,” Linda says. “The kitchen had to be ‘part of the conversation’, in that there’s a seamless flow to the kitchen from both front and back decks to the lounge and the dining room.”

It took about three months for the Cunninghams and Gremmo’s architect and interior designer to come up with the final design. “The company quoted us a build time of 13 months and it took exactly that, even though we were right in the middle of covid,” Michael says. “There were no hiccups and we’d definitely use them again.” The striking house is incredibly energy efficient – 32 solar panels power a Tesla battery and the couple haven’t had a power bill for nearly two years. The wooden finishes on the exterior are actually made of aluminium DecoWood, which is low maintenance and resistant to salt corrosion. A low-maintenance (or “no-maintenance”) garden was also a priority. Rainwater tanks are concealed underground and the plants are all natives. “We often see people wandering past on the road and stopping to smell the lemon myrtle,” Michael says. “The whole property is a delight for the senses.” To arrange a private inspection, contact Belle Property Central Coast principal Cathy Baker on 0414 241 005, cathy.baker@belleproperty.com

Country STYLE

Nestled within a magical garden setting on a 2.5-acre property, Rambling Rose is one of rural Holgate’s earliest and most beautifully updated homesteads.

353 Wattle Tree Road, Holgate

Since it was first built around 1910 on a magnificent acreage in Holgate, the original Rambling Rose homestead has been thoughtfully expanded and modernised over the years. The property spans nearly 2.5 acres, and the home is set to capture exquisite views in every direction across spectacular gardens and lush green lawns. Boasting a brilliant north aspect, it's a home that seems to slow down time, inviting the outdoors in with graceful, bullnosed verandas and decks acting as a natural extension of the living space. Free-flowing interiors feature dual lounge areas plus a spacious family room with a wood-burning stove, while the modern kitchen has stone benchtops, an induction cooktop and a walk-in pantry. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has a separate purpose-built home office along with an artist’s studio, workshop and storage shed, a gorgeous swimming pool and large veggie patch. It is completely private and ideal for a growing family or weekend escape.
