In Loving Memory of Our Wonderful Mother on Her 95th Birthday

RUBY M. LUCAS 8/6/1928-5/10/2006

Our Mothers depart, but never their Love and never the lessons they taught us. Never the joy they have brought us. Our lives go on without you but nothing is quite the same. This day is remembered and quietly kept, no words are needed, we’ll never forget. Sad are the hearts that live, silent are the tears that fall. Living our lives without you is the hardest part of all.

The Curvy Girl's Guide to Wedding Dresses There is no day more special than the one in which you promise your life to another, forever. It's only fitting for every girl to want have the perfect dress, the curvy girl included. But we know it isn't always easy to find a look that is sexy enough to wow the man waiting at the end of the aisle, yet demure enough to avoid catching a few side-eyes from your soon-to-be in-laws, especially when you've got a few extra curves. No worries. Once again, we've got you covered – glamorously. Here are a few tips to assist you in your bridal gown search. We've even included a gallery of a few of our favorite dresses for today's curvy bride! 1. Be careful with cleavage. A little is hot, but too much can start whispers. No girl wants to start off on the wrong foot with her newest family members by making a poor first impression in the form of an inappropriate dress choice. When teetering on the line between style and sexiness, err on the side of elegance. 2. Fishtail or mermaid styles that hug the hip, but flare below the knee, balance out wide hips nicely and look impeccable on hourglass shapes. 3. Don't get lacy happy. Or 'anything'-happy for that matter. An excess of fabric (i.e. ruching), frills or embellishment can have an exaggerated effect on shapely bodies, not to mention the fact that, if not careful, it can look downright tacky. Don't hide behind accoutrements. Let a flawless design or the crispness of clean lines play up your curvy body. 4. Think outside the box. Don't limit yourself to typical bridal retailers. Keep an eye open for a vintage dress that may suit your tastes. Or, if you are into continuing a family tradition by wearing an heirloom dress, but can't quite squeeze into your mother's old frock, consider having the fabric from her dress repurposed as a part of a new piece for your big day. 5. Be realistic. Fitted is amazing; tight is tragic. And it may not be as easy to shed extra pounds on a rigid deadline as you might think. Keep a close relationship with the person/team that is altering your dress and set realistic weight loss goals for yourself if you're looking to downsize. However, shrinking a few sizes won't make up for a dress that just doesn't work for your body type – even if you love it. Be honest with yourself about what works and looks best. Try these styles out for size: Afro/Latino

What is Gout? What is Hyperuricemia Gout is a disease that results from an overload of uric acid in the body. This overload of uric acid leads to the formation of tiny crystals of urate that deposit in tissues of the body, especially the joints. When crystals form in the joints, it causes recurring attacks of joint inflammation (arthritis). Gout is considered a chronic and progressive disease. Chronic gout can also lead to deposits of hard lumps of uric acid in the tissues, particularly in and around the joints and may cause joint destruction, decreased kidney function, and kidney stones (nephrolithiasis).

What are gout causes and risk factors? In addition to an inherited abnormality in handling uric acid, other risk factors for developing gout include obesity, excessive weight gain (especially in youth), moderate to heavy alcohol intake, high blood pressure, and abnormal kidney function. Certain drugs, such as thiazide diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide [Dyazide]), low-dose aspirin, niacin, cyclosporine, tuberculosis Gout has the unique distinction of being one of the most frequently medications (pyrazinamide and ethamburecorded medical illnesses throughout history. It is often related to an tol), and others can also cause elevated inherited abnormality in the body's ability to process uric acid. Uric uric acid levels in the blood and lead to acid is a breakdown product of purines that are part of many foods we gout. Furthermore, certain diseases lead to eat. An abnormality in handling uric acid can cause attacks of painful excessive production of uric acid in the arthritis (gout attack), kidney stones, and blockage of the kidneyfiltering tubules with uric acid crystals, leading to kidney failure. On the body. Examples of these diseases include leukemias, lymphomas, and hemoglobin other hand, some people may only develop elevated blood uric acid levels (hyperuricemia) without having manifestations of gout, such as disorders. arthritis or kidney problems. The state of elevated levels of uric acid in the blood without symptoms is referred to as asymptomatic hyperuricemia. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia is considered a precursor state to the development of gout. The term gout refers the disease that is caused by an overload of uric acid in the body, resulting in painful arthritic attacks and deposits of lumps of uric acid crystals in body tissues Gouty arthritis is typically an extremely painful attack with a rapid onset of joint inflammation. The joint inflammation is precipitated by deposits of uric acid crystals in the joint fluid (synovial fluid) and joint lining (synovial lining). Intense joint inflammation occurs as the immune system reacts, causing white blood cells to engulf the uric acid crystals and chemical messengers of inflammation to be released, leading to pain, heat, and redness of the joint tissues. As gout progresses, the attacks of gouty arthritis typically occur more frequently and often in additional joints. Who is affected by gout? Approximately 5 million people in the United States suffer from gout. (Did you know that none other than Benjamin Franklin had terribly painful gouty arthritis?) Gout is nine times more common in men than in women. It predominantly attacks males after puberty, with a peak age of 75. In women, gout attacks usually occur after menopause. While an elevated blood level of uric acid may indicate an increased risk of gout, the relationship between hyperuricemia and gout is unclear. Many patients with hyperuricemia do not develop gout (asymptomatic hyperuricemia), while some patients with repeated gout attacks have normal or low blood uric acid levels. In fact, the blood level of uric acid often lowers during an acute attack of gout. Among the male population in the United States, approximately 10% have hyperuricemia. However, only a small portion of those with hyperuricemia will actually develop gout.

Interestingly, one study demonstrated an increased prevalence of abnormally low thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism) in patients with gout. In patients at risk of developing gout, certain conditions can precipitate acute attacks of gout. These conditions include dehydration, injury to the joint, fever, excessive eating, heavy alcohol intake, and recent surgery. Gout attacks triggered by recent surgery are probably related to changes in the body-fluid balance as patients temporarily discontinue

Benefit Party for Robert “Rock & Roll” Cleland. Friday August 12th 5pm Onward. At the Forest Inn 9th & Penn. Got JOKES These are comments made by South Carolina Troopers that were taken off their car videos: 1. "You know, stop lights don't come any redder than the one you just went through." 2. "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while." 3. "If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document." (My Favorite) 4. "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired." 5. "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you." (LOVE IT) 6. "You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?" 7. "Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?" 8. "Warning! You want a warning? O.K, I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket." 9. "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?" 10. "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey poop." 11. "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven." 12. "In God we trust; all others we run through NCIC." ( National Crime Information Center ) 13. "Just how big were those 'two beers' you say you had?" 14. "No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can." 15. "I'm glad to hear that the Chief (of Police) is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail." AND THE WINNER IS.... 16. "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't. Sign here." Afro/Latino

An old guy … ok, a guy my age and not in the best of shape.... was working out in the gym when he spotted a sexy and beautiful young woman. He asked the nearby trainer, "What machine should I use in here to impress that cute young thing over there?" The trainer looked him up and down and said, "I'd try the ATM in the lobby." A couple decided to rent a cabin in Alaska for a romantic weekend. When they got to the cabin it was so cold the wife asked her husband to go chop some wood for the fire place. He comes in after 5 minutes and told his wife that his hands were cold, so she put his hands between her thighs to warm them. After a few minutes he goes back outside to finish chopping wood. He came in after another 5 minutes and said, "Honey my hands are cold again!" So once again she tells him to put his hands between her thighs to warm them. Back outside he goes only to come in again after 5 minutes to announce, "Honey my hands are cold again." "Dammit!" she yells, "Don't your ears ever get cold?"

Blaming Someone Else When You Should Be Blaming Yourself When a relationship fails many people always look for someone to blame. Instead of focusing on their faults and what they could have possibly done to save their relationship, they choose to live in denial. Maybe there was a lack of communication in the relationship or maybe your mate just wasn’t in love with you anymore. Your mate may not have been in love with you at all. Whatever the case may have been you have to come to the realization that your relationship is now over. Becoming obsessed with your ex and refusing to let them go will only push them further away. Being strong and accepting that it’s time for you to move on is the only possible option for you. We all know that it can be hard to accept the fact that your life is changing but your life has to change in order for you to grow into a well grounded individual. There have been times in my life when I have had to let someone go because we just weren’t meant to be. Remembering the good times that the two of you shared and being civil to one another will allow you to accept that person as a friend in your life. In many instances you can’t be friends with that person if they have hurt you too badly. In cases like this, you should just move on. I know it’s easier said than done but you have to decide if you want this person in your life or not at all. Becoming the psychotic ex who has become delusional and has lost all touch with reality will not bring that person back to you. It will only make them run further away you. Tamara Rollins P.O.
