You just got to respect Chuck Norris. Seriously, if you don't its your ass. Here’s some funny reasons why Chuck Norris is the “Man”. China was once bordering the United States, until Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked it all the way through the Earth. Chuck Norris is what Willis was talking about If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you. Chuck Norris sent Jesus a birthday card on December 25th and it wasn't Jesus’ birthday. Jesus was to scared to correct Chuck Norris and to this day December 25th is known as Jesus' birthday. When Chuck Norris had surgery, the anesthesia was applied to the doctors. Chuck Norris once broke the land speed record on a bicycle that was missing its chain and the back tire. Chuck Norris once kicked a baby elephant into puberty Multiple people have died from Chuck Norris giving them the finger. Chuck Norris once tried to wear glasses. The result was him seeing around the world to the point where he was looking at the back of his own head. Pee Wee Herman got arrested for masturbating in public. The same day, Chuck Norris got an award for masturbating in public.

Plug’d In Band of the Week Don’t let Freak scare you. He’s actually a really down to earth, cool guy. We caught up with the Lead Farmer vocalist @ the Downingtown School of Rock. We made it just in time to watch Lead Farmer crush the stage. For only being together a year, these guys are good. They’re heavy, intense, and focused. They played about 30 minutes and I loved every minute. Even my 7 year old son said “Daddy, they’re loud”! Anyways, Lead Farmer is coming to you real soon. They’ve already got some shows in Central Pa under their belts, and are working on a whole bunch more for the year. So be on the look out for this killer quartet. They’re coming and they’re comFreak ing hard! Vocalist

Profile

Releases

Lead Farmer is the premiere extreme metal band from Parksburg,Pa. With attitude and aggression reminiscent of old school D.I.V. bands and a sound that is equal parts death metal anger, grindcore chaos, and a thick Pantera-esque groove. Lead Farmer, which is pronounced Led not Leed, gives us a fresh take on extreme metal in a sea of cookie cutter bands. The band is anchored by longtime friends and musical giants Bill and Barry, who use their instruments to speak a language all their own. If you have the opportunity to see them live then you will be hanging on every word. Their front man, who's know as Freak, is a heavy metal madman who will remind you of a slightly more audible, yet no less pissed off Chris Barnes. Replacing original drummer Dave (who appears on their "Noise Pollution" demo and their debut album "Born to Grind") is longtime friend of the band, Merle, a master skins-man who lends some semblance of order to Bill and Barry's frequent dives into complete anarchy.

Born To Grind 2009

Noise Pollution While Lead Farmer offers us plenty of hooks, each one is 2008 attached to a running chainsaw. In other words, you wont find any rapping, or ballads, or bullshit here, just out-andout aggression. With influences ranging from death, grindcore, thrash, and stoner metal, there is to be a little something for all of headbanging’s faithful followers.

While countless bands deliver predictable, uninspired, soulless dribble for the masses, Lead Farmer gives us something new and exciting to look forward to in the extreme music genre.

Local CD Of the Week The Economy Sucks, but you should still drop a couple bucks on this. Sacred Serenity, Enemy in the Clouds EP. For some reason, Pennsylvania has a hard time producing a solid metal-core band with potential for more success than just being praised in the local scene. Nate Parker and Pat Scanlon are the brain children behind the new metal act, Sacred Serenity, coming out of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. The band’s seven song debut EP Enemy in the Clouds was recorded and mixed in completely do it yourself fashion. Enemy in the Clouds was recorded in Perkasie at Cancer Studios which vocalist, Pat Scanlon, describes as “an old friends studio that was literally in a barn”, then it was sent off to a friend in New York for the final mixing process. The combination of free recording and mixing adds up to a surprisingly well put together record, that should be on any metal heads playlist. Enemy in the Clouds combines hard hitting breakdowns with soft well written melodies to create a sound unique to the underground scene. Nate Parker’s guitar work is exactly what every metal guitarist should be, fast, precise and technical. Fans of lots of melody and what is obviously quick finger work will love this EP. The bass can be a little harder to hear (which is probably due to the lower quality of the final mixes) but when heard, it matches the guitar note for note. Pat Scanlon’s vocals are both intimidating and jaw dropping. The vocals on the EP range from high to low and have listeners feel the evil of his voice flow through their veins. Lyrically it is one of the most dominating and forceful EPs that can be heard today. For instance, in the song Death in Solitude, the second verse begins with the line “Fuck your infectious ways” making whoever is on the receiving end of that line, aware that they are scum. My only complaint with the EP is the drumming, although not completely off, it is by no means as tight as the other elements of the EP. This could be because it was recorded by a substitute drummer or something in the mixing process didn’t fall through as it should have. Regardless this is still one of the best metal-core EPs that anyone will find in the scene today. Enemy in the Clouds will attract all audiences and pulls influences from Whitechapel to All That Remains. It has the heavy breakdowns the hardcore scene, the quick melodies of any melodic death metal band today and even the soft sung choruses of popular metal-core acts such as As I Lay Dying and Trivium. Sacred Serenity will be entering Lonely RD Recordings in Perkasie at the end of March to record a newer EP which will be titled Divulgence. The band will be playing shows during the summer to promote both EPs and I’ll be very surprised if it doesn’t turn heads. Enemy in the Clouds can be heard in its entirety on the bands myspace,www.myspace.com/sacredserenitypa, where listeners can find a link to download the entire EP.

On Tour w/ Kittie Interview with Morgan Lander By Curt Ridall Kittie kicks ass and has been doing so for years. Curt Ridall got a chance to talk to front person Morgan Lander right before their upcoming Crocodile Rock show. PI: Rules or no rules, I have to say I am really happy that you ladies decided to go with E1. Bill Meis is an awesome guy and deserves his due. He’s going to do a good job at getting you ladies in the public eye. Morgan: Yea, yea. Fuck Yeah. We have no complaints. PI: On your new tour are there any places you're looking forward to going? Morgan: We have fun no matter where we go, quite honestly. PI: Are there any places you haven't been you may be excited to go? Morgan: Yeah actually... let me just go look at the schedule quick here. Let's see here. We really love playing in Huntington, West Virginia. I know that sounds crazy but we have a really awesome following there, and we haven't played there in quite a few years. New Hampshire, we haven't played there in a long time as well, same thing with Massachusetts. That all looks really exciting to me. Other than that there are places that we usually hit on a regular touring basis. PI: I saw you guys had a Machine Shop date too? Morgan: Oh it's so much fun there. All the guys that run the place are more than kind and we always have so much fun. The shows there are always amazing. I know that Flint, Mi is one of those places where there's not a lot of jobs and stuff, but they definitely save up all their money for the rock shows. PI: So I guess you guys have a little video debut tonight? Morgan: Yeah, Headbangers Ball, “Sorrow I Know” video. PI: So are you stoked about that? Morgan: Of course, totally stoked. It's always exciting when you get played on TV. It'll be an alternate version. A television friendly version. PI: Yeah I did see the too hot for TV version, and it's actually one of the only videos I've watched recently that kept me intrigued. It seems a lot of people have lost their artistic balance in their music. It kept my attention. It was awesome actually. Morgan: Well thank you. We wanted to do something different. We're a metal band yes, but at the same time we're women and we enjoy the whole aspect of dressing up and all that stuff. It's fine and dandy to be metal and everything, and that's what we did with Cut Throat video, and that's exactly what you're going to get if you come and see a live show. We wanted to explore cinematic ideas and do something that would be interesting and outside of the box. Who in a metal band does a 1920's themed video anymore? Nobody that I've seen. The plot and the storyline keep people interested. You've got to have a little violence you know, and there's booze involved, and half naked ladies. We covered all the bases.

PI: There's nothing wrong with a little debauchery in your rock music. The two go hand in hand actually. Morgan: Yeah, it covers all the good bases. PI: How did you want to concept the video? Morgan: We wanted to do something that had a 1920's theme, like a speakeasy, that sort of thing. Once we started speaking with the director David Brodsky, we collaborated and came up with some great ideas. We started discussing what we could possibly do with this storyline... of a woman who catches her boyfriend cheating, and then she attacks him, kills him, and then ends up at this bar drinking. The concept is, you never know what peoples stories are about you know? You might see somebody sitting alone drinking at a bar and think that persons sucks, they have no life, but you really don't know what's going on in their lives. It's that sort of fly on the wall, kind of concept that we wanted to get across. Doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the song, in particular. The mood and lyrics can be interpreted in such a way that you can apply it how we have, as well as many other ways. PI: That's the good thing about music, it doesn't matter how it was written, and it can influence different people in different ways. Morgan: Absolutely. PI: You said, "it's good to be female" as well. Do you think that whole rock/female cliché thing is gone, because you guys are really talented singers/songwriters? Do you think people look at you differently than they would say 10 years ago or so? Morgan: I definitely think it's more accepted than 10 years ago. Whether or not people look at us differently, is the final frontier for us I guess because we're not as big of a band as we were when we started, and media exposure was done at a time when we were 16 years old. This is 10 years down the road. We haven't really been able to redeem ourselves, you know, and show that we've become a really good band. We tour relentlessly, and we're completely different musically than we were 10 years ago. I think a lot of metal elitists can't look past what we did on our 1'st album, and it's really hard to be judged on something you did when you were 14 or 15 years old. But that's just for us specifically. I think it's certainly more accepted to be a woman in metal now. I'm not sure the judgment is quite equal. It's slightly unfair, but it's not like we started this band to fight stereotypes or anything like that. To be honest we didn't understand what types of things we'd be encountering in the metal industry. We were just a bunch of friends that wanted to get together and play music, we didn't really think like "hey, let's start something", or "let's be crusaders for women in Rock" or anything like that. We just wanted to pick up our instruments, play some music and have some fun, you know? We didn't really think of all the things that would come of that. PI: At least you have a little experience now, in and around the industry. Do you have any advice you'd like to offer to up and comers who might like to embark on the journey now? Morgan: Trust no one. No, that sounds really shitty, but quite honestly you never know what people's motives are, and you just have to go with your gut. If somebody makes something sound too good to be true, they probably want something out of you. Usually it's money. PI: Do your research? Morgan: Definitely, do your research. You have to work your ass off too. It's not a cakewalk that's for sure. From an outsiders perspective it may seem like it's all fun and games, but at the end of the day it's still a business, and if you don't run it like one you're going to get ripped off. Or you're going to wake up one day and be like "wow, what happened?" "Where's all my stuff?" "Where's all my money?" "Who's this broad beside me?" “OH, my GOD!”

PI: Yeah exactly. I have some friends in a band that not to long ago had their tour bus ripped off by some crazies. Morgan: Oh my god. PI: That's completely off topic from what you were talking about. Morgan: That's terrible. PI: It's horrible right? I definitely agree with all the things you said about being ripped off, and people being dishonest. I see a lot of the stuff that goes on and, it is what it is, but as long as you recognize it, you're good to go. Morgan: Yeah, you have to be very observant and very weary of people’s motives. That's crazy; say for instance that tour bus thing you're talking about. Since you're in the public eye, people feel like you're public property, almost. They think they can just walk up to you and say things, “anything”, but we have feelings, and people don't necessarily think sometimes before they speak or act for that matter. We've had multiple instances where people have just opened the tour bus door, and walked right in.... and sat down, opened a beer, and all this stuff. People trying to get in, like "is Kittie here", and it doesn't register that this is our home. You wouldn't just open the door of some stranger’s house; you just don't do that right? PI: So I guess that is definitely a big tour pet peeve of yours? Morgan: Yes. PI: No knocking on the door of the bus? Morgan: Knocking, like just knocking on the door, isn't that bad. But when people just rip it open and come up to you and say "hey", that's when it's going too far. PI: You ladies aren't real big women either, 5’3" or something? Morgan: Yeah PI: So you're little. Yeah, I guess that could be crazy. Do you have any crazy fan moments that stand out? Morgan: Always. PI: Always? Morgan: Always. PI: Well that's good Rock music then if you always have crazy fans. Any certain musical inspirations that stand out or that you’ve gathered over the years? Morgan: We've had a lot. Our influences have definitely morphed and grown over the years. I think it’s helped our sound evolve. When we first started we listened to a lot of grunge stuff, like Alice In Chains, Nirvana the first Marilyn Manson album, you know all that stuff from back then. PI: Yeah I'm about 30, so that's about my time. Morgan: Yeah exactly, you know Tool, the first Deftones album, Helmet. You know? Stuff like that. Since then it's kind of morphed and changed, and we've kind of gotten deeper into the metal scene. For instance Mercedes doesn't really listen to too much metal anymore, but she's very aware of what's going on, for her, metal is her music outlet, but not necessarily what she listens to. Same with Tara, she listens to metal but she doesn't listen to a lot of it, she's more into jazz and blues and stuff like that. Ivy and I definitely listen to a lot of metal. I listen to everything from like Carcass and Pantera to a lot of older stuff. I'm well aware of what's going on in the scene, but I haven't bought too many albums lately. PI: Well, Jazz and Blues goes into the makings of a good guitar player. Wouldn’t you say? Morgan: Absolutely, she's phenomenal. PI: So not a whole lot new that actually goes into your I-Pod that you listen to now. Morgan: The last thing I put in there was the new Behemoth album.

PI: Awesome. Good choice. I guess in PA where I'm going to be seeing you is the Croc Rock in Allentown March 9, 2010? Morgan: Yeah, we play there a lot, and it's always a good show. PI: We are so stoked about God Forbid and Kittie. Morgan: Yeah, it's going to be wicked. PI: Yeah, good show. I just saw God Forbid a couple weeks ago with Five Finger Death Punch Death Punch and Shadows Fall. They're always a good time. Morgan: Yeah, they’re fun. We've been talking about doing a tour with them forever, so it's finally going to come true. PI: You said things have changed in the last 10 years. There's been a big social networking spike over the last few years. Do you guys directly interact with your fans using those types of mediums? Morgan: We do all those things are selves. Even before MySpace was a big deal we were always very hands on with our fans. After a show we'd hang out, sign autographs, take pictures. And now these social networking sites just make that process easier. We have a MySpace page, a Facebook account and Twitter. We run a YouTube channel as well. We set it all up ourselves and handle all of it. It's kind of an extension of our personalities, and it makes our job a lot easier. Because if you come out to a show that's what you're going to get. And if you get on our MySpace page and write to us, or ask a question, it'll probably get answered. PI: That's definitely a good thing. I respect a good live show, and someone that enjoys their fans as much as their fans enjoy them. Morgan: Yeah, you can't be unappreciative. The people that pay money to come see your shows are the people that are making your dreams come true. You have to acknowledge that fact and appreciate these people that are paying their hard earned money to see you play. So: a) you better put on a good rock show, and b) you better be appreciative of them. You can't just blow people off. PI: Right, well unfortunately I've seen it all. People need to understand you can't do everything though. Morgan: Yeah, and I think people understand that you can't, but at least give that valiant effort. PI: You guys seem to keep well in touch with your fans. Morgan: We try our best. PI: I like to talk a lot. I apologize for that. Be safe on your upcoming tour. We’ll definitely see you in Allentown at the Croc Rock. Morgan: No worries at all, man. PI: Thank you for putting Plug’d In into your day. Morgan: You’re Welcome. Cheers.

Jokes Mrs. Jones goes to the doctor for a full medical. After an hour or so, the doctor looks at Mrs. Jones and says the following: "Mrs. Jones, overall you are very healthy for a 45 year old. There is however, only one problem. You are 40 pounds overweight and bordering on obese. I would strongly suggest that you diet now to save any complications in later years." She looks sternly at him and says, "I demand a second opinion." "OK" he says, "you're fucking ugly as well!" Sitting at home one night with his wife, a man is casually tossing peanuts into the air and catching them in his mouth. As the couple take in the latest episode of their favorite program, the man loses concentration for a split second, and a peanut goes into his ear. He tries to get it out, but succeeds only in forcing the thing in awfully deep. After a few hours of fruitless rooting the couple decide to go to the hospital, but on their way out of the front door they meet their daughter coming in with her boyfriend. The boyfriend takes control of the situation; he tells them he's studying medicine and that they're not to worry about a thing. He then sticks two fingers up the man's nose and asks him to blow, and low and behold, the nut shoots from the ear and out across the room. As the daughter and her boyfriend go through to the kitchen to get drinks, the man and his wife sit down to discuss their luck. "So" the wife says, "what do you think he'll become after he finishes school? A GP or a surgeon?" "Well says the man, rubbing his nose, "by the smell of his fingers, I think he's likely to be our son-in-law." Jason walks into a restroom in an airport and goes up to a urinal. A man with no arms comes up to him and says "Hey, can you give me a hand?". Though he feels uncomfortable, he agrees to help. He unzips the man's pants, takes a deep breath, and reaches in and takes out his penis, which he is horrified to discover is all green and moldy. Imagining the bonus he will get come judgment day, he continues to hold the man's moldy unit as he urinates, gives it a shake, and zips it back up in his pants. "Hey, thanks a lot man." The man says. "No problem. But there is one thing I have to know, what is wrong with your Johnson?" Then the man pulls his arms out into his sleeves and says "I don't know, but I'm sure as hell ain't gonna touch it!" A man came home from work one day to find his wife on the front porch with her bags packed. Just where the heck do you think you're going!', said the man. I'm going to Las Vegas', said the wife, 'I just found out I can get $400 a night for what I give you for free! The man said, 'Wait a minute!', and then ran inside the house only to come back a few minutes later with his suitcases in hand. Where the heck are you going?', said the wife. The man said, 'I want to see how you're gonna live on $800 a year!'

Doctor: "What seems to be the problem?" Patient: "Doc, I've got the farts. I mean I fart all the time," The Doctor nods, "Hmm." Patient: "My farts do not stink and you can't hear them. It's just that I fart all the time. Look, we've been talking here for about 10 minutes and I've farted five times. You didn't hear them and you don't smell them, do you?" "Hmm," says the Doctor, He picks up his pad and writes out a prescription. The patient is thrilled "Great doc. This prescription, will it really clear up my farts?" "No," sighs the Doctor, "The prescription is to clear your sinuses. Next week I want you back here for a hearing test."

Thoughts from Stewie…... Did you forget my name? How dare you! Is this backwards “S” supposed to be cute? I'm going to crap double for you tonight! By all means, turn me into a child star. Perhaps I can move to Californ-i-ay and wrangle me a threesome with the Olsen twins. That chick from Kittie is in the next issue of Plug’d In. Now she can rock. She can change my diaper any day.
