Our City, Our Water is a group of Reading residents organized to ensure that WE HAVE A CHOICE AND A VOICE with what happens to our water system now and for generations to come.

We are fighting plans by wealthy and powerful individuals to auction off our water system to a forprofit corporation. City council’s recent attempt to auction the system was defeated only because Reading citizens organized and fought back, loud and hard! We won this round but, make no mistake, the threat to sell off our water system remains. Now, we are visiting the homes of citizens and collecting signatures to amend the City Charter to require voter approval before any major city-owned assets are auctioned off. The water belongs to us, please join us in our fight against short term greed of spineless politicians and private corporations! More information can be found on Facebook at Our City, Our Water, for Generations to Come and Nuestra Ciudad, Nuestra Agua, Nuestra Voz. Since private companies took over the 5 largest privatized water systems in PA, bills have tripled.

Parents/Guardians! Recent data suggests that the 2014-15 9th grade class entering Reading High School (RHS) will have less than a 60% chance to make it to graduation. Only half of those who do manage to graduate will go on to college. The reason we exist is to help make the graduation rate 100% for our student participants and provide them with the support, encouragement and skills required to grow and thrive in the new economy after graduation. If you know a student entering the 9th grade at RHS for the 2014-15 school year and you want to provide him or her with a unique support system throughout their entire highschool career to register you for our program by going to www.sharedgrowth.org/register or e-mail us at fab@sharedgrowth.org for more information. Thank you! The staff at Shared Growth, Inc.
